3 Main features Wayside Standard Platform (WSP) is the standard platform designed by Ansaldo STS for all vital wayside applications. WSP is a system that can manage vitally, from a single Central Post and through a multi structure, complex sections of railway line, with the possibility of integrating all interlocking and train separation functionalities in a single and homogeneous man-machine. System is fully flexible and can be customised for any type of railway application irrespective of electrification system, line speed or track gauge. Platform can perform L1/L2 ERTMS, Distance to Go (DTG) and Temporary Speed Restriction (TSR) functions. Platform can to CBTC. Use of standard protocols and communication over open network for complete interfacing to systems including those of other suppliers. Management of static s to devices (signals, points, crossings, track circuits, etc) and vital digital inputs and outputs. Complete and certified set of tools for the configuration, verification and validation of the specific application. Automatic diagnostics, operator assistance and data logging functions to improve the efficiency of both signalling operators and maintenance engineers. 4 Main components Operator Interface Compact PCI system in "2oo2" configuration is dedicated to managing the operator each time the safety characteristics for displaying and entering the special emergency command procedure are requested. The system is suitable to manage a maximum of eight highresolution monitors (1920x1200 pixel) and is preset for housing the functional keyboard which can be connected to the Safety Nucleus in case of local or to the Peripheral Post in case remote operator implementation is required. The structure is used for configuring operator desks with Display Panel only in the case of large-size plants, or with Operator Terminal and Display Panel for medium/small-size plants. WSP/ART Safety Nucleus Rack WSP Safety Nucleus s, through a local network, to the other subsystems typically present in a Central Post, that is ART/DGM server and operator desks or systems to remote subsystems (TEL/WEB server). WSP/ART is able to connect, through a network (Ethernet or serial) to Peripheral Posts for either the management of the or the to other interlocking subsystems, according to a hierarchical architecture. It makes use of flexible s: Ethernet and RS 485 serial, both with copper link and remote fiber optic link; processing units, interfacing units and all communication lines are duplicated for availability. The WSP platform makes use of different communication links to connect with Operator Interfaces, Functional Vital Keyboards, Area Controllers, Field Controllers and External Subsystems. Each link is duplicated to improve the availability of the system. Safe protocols compliant with CENELEC Standards for SIL4 subsystems are used for safety related communications. The following communications links are provided: Fast Ethernet Non Vital Network to with ART server, Operator Interface and Maintenance Interface. 10Mbit/s serial network manages the communication between Central Post WSP and the set of Peripheral Post racks. For each serial line that comes out of WSP, up to 124 Field Devices can be managed. Each serial line is redundant, Primary and Secondary line, and can be on copper or on optical fiber (long distances). Fast Ethernet Vital Network to with Area Controller Units, through a gateway (SBFE) which s on one side to the Ethernet network and on the other side to the Peripheral Post for the management of up to eight serial lines per SBFE, each with a maximum of 124 Field Devices. Each Area Controller can to Field Device Controllers through RS Mbps serial lines. RS Mbps serial lines to with the Vital Functional Keyboards. Fast Ethernet Vital Network to with External Subsystems such as other Interlocking Units or Radio Block Center systems. To with subsystems provided by other suppliers, various standard vital protocols can be used. The following general criteria are applied: Communication Protocols compliant with European CENELEC standards EN50159 both for open and closed network vital communications. Redundant units cyclically used in order to routinely monitor their operation. Connection redundancy and separation in distinct paths. Transmission s conditioned by watchdog units. 3

8 SimWSP diagnostic tool The SimWSP diagnostic is a tool that operates on commercial PC platforms and is dedicated to implementing control, monitoring and diagnostic functions of Peripheral Post system components (power supply diagnostic, Area Controller, Field Device Controller, Cable Isolation Controller, fan diagnostic). The WSP Central Post can: safely manage existing electronic interlockings (also of other suppliers); safely manage relay interlockings (also of other suppliers); allow the uploading of new s into the multi range. The WSP Peripheral Post can: safely manage static s to devices (signals, points, crossings, track circuits, etc) safely manage vital digital inputs and outputs. Testing The first scope of application of SimWSP is testing. Using a commercial PC/laptop and an Ethernet/Rs485 converter it is possible to with the required Peripheral Post devices and to test them in parallel, with automatic generation of relevant Test Reports. ART The second operating application of SimWSP provides for integration into the I/O ART system. The operator can monitor/diagnose all system devices via Diagnostic Servers and control them for maintenance operations. 6
