3 Description With the vnp sensors, relative detect distances (or relative window boundaries for the analogue output) are set via TouchControl as opposed to the mic+ sensors. Via pin 5 at the sensor plug (Com input), the current distance to the object can then be taught in at any time. For this purpose, pin 5 must be applied to +UB for 3 seconds. The respectively taught-in distance to the object is referred to as the virtual zero. The absolute detect distances (or absolute window boundaries for the analogue output) are derived from the summation of the previously programmed relative detect distances (or relative window boundaries) and the taught-in virtual zero. If, for example, a relative detect distance of -50 mm was programmed for switched output D1 and a relative detect distance of +80 mm was programmed for switched output D2 via TouchControl and the absolute distance to the object is then taught in via pin 5 as the virtual zero with 600 mm, the detect points are as follows: D1: -50 mm mm = 550 mm D2: +80 mm mm = 680 mm The vnp sensors are particularly useful whenever a detect distance has to be set recurrently by the machine control or manually by the operator, e.g. upon every machine cycle or machine setup. The characteristic curve of the analogue signal can also optionally be continuously displaced for sensors with analogue output via pin 5 (Com input). This special function has to be initially activated via TouchControl. If +UB is then applied to pin 5 at the sensor plug for <3 seconds, the virtual zero is continuously displaced away from the sensor; if, in contrast, +UB is applied for >3 seconds, the virtual zero is continuously displaced towards the sensor. A renewed short application of +UB to pin 5 stops the process. With vnp sensors with analogue output, the characteristic curve can be programmed numerically as the relative window width with this method, for example from -50 mm to +80 mm a rising analogue characteristic 0 10 V. Via pin 5 at the sensor plug, the complete analogue characteristic curve can then be continuously displaced with the virtual zero. If several vnp sensors are operated in a confined space, they can be synchronised with each other via pin 5 at the sensor plug.
