1 Rev 1.0 Date: 05/2016 CANGATEWAY CANGATEWAY enables CAN signal separation to the different modules in a vehicle. Universality of the CANGATEWAY means that it can be adjusted to a particular vehicle. User can configure CANGATEWAY himself so that it would fit particular car. Elprosys has also prepared ready configurations for such models: MERCEDES, RENUALT, BMW and bikes: BMW and Harley Davidson.

2 Rev 1.0 Date: 05/2017 Correct order of action: CONFIGURATION Cangateway PROGRAMMING Cangateway INSTALLATION Cangateway CONFIGURATION OF CANGATEWAY : Configuration can be done in two ways: downloading the file directly from the manufacturer s website using CanGateway Manager 1. DOWNLOADING FROM WEBSITE Configuration files and user manuals can be downloaded directly from manufacturer s website - section NEW CanGateway. After selecting appropriate car model dedicated configuration file for Cangateway can be downloaded as well as file with instruction explaining installation in a vehicle.

3 Date: 05/ CONFIGURATION - CANGATEWAY MANAGER PC TOOL Manufacturer offers dedicated PC tool - CANGATEWAY MANAGER which can be used to configure Cangateway. It gives user ability to easily manage Cangateway configuration. BASIC SETTINGS Run CANGATEWAY MANAGER and select appropriate product Cangateway, then select suitable configuration for a particular car or bike. After selecting appropriate configuration save file on microsd card (FlexMode.txt), and insert card in Cangateway card connector. After connecting power supply to Cangateway module configuration from FlexMode.txt file will be automatically saved in Cangateway module.!!! ATTENTION!!! After Cangateway module is programmed it is possible to remove microsd card permanently Cangateway module installation must be carried out according to dedicated description for appropriate vehicle.

4 Rev 1.0 Date: 05/2017 ADVANCED SETTINGS PC tool CANGATEWAY MANAGER provides possibility of individual Cangateway module configuration according to individual needs. Simply select Cangateway, and go to Advanced Settings: PC tool CANGATEWAY MANAGER enables FlexMode.txt and Bootloader2 (bootconf.txt) files configuration. FlexMode.txt file enables user mode selection and configuration of CAN terminating resistors, Bootloader2.txt is a file with bootloader2 parameters in UDS standard.

Configurator FlexMode.txt Enables to change termination (ON/OFF resistor 120 Ω) for standard Cangateway user modes. Configurator Bootloader2 (bootconf.txt) Enables to configure communication parameters of bootloader2 in UDS standard. CAN number Data input direction Termination ON/OFF resistor 120 Ω Speed CAN - BUS speed [kbps], ID ECU Cangateway identifier (ID) in CAN BUS [HEX], ID Tester diagnostic tester identifier (ID) in CAN BUS [HEX] DiagProg4, Password password for Bootloader2 * PASSWORD must have exactly 10 characters [HEX]. After saving suitable configuration save file on microsd card and insert card in Cangateway card connector After connecting power supply to Cangateway module configuration from file will be automatically saved in Cangateway module.!!! 6 Rev 1.0 Date: 05/2017 CANGATEWAY MODULE PROGRAMMING Cangateway module programming: 1. Insert microsd card (with previously saved configuration files) in Cangateway card connector. 2. Connect power supply. After connecting power supply to Cangateway module configuration from file will be automatically saved in Cangateway module. LED SIGNALING OF CONFIGURATION: RED + GREEN LED GREEN LED Cangateway not programmed Cangateway incorrect configuration Cangateway correct configuration CANGATEWAY MODULE INSTALLATION Module installation is very simple and requires soldering only 6 cables. Cangateway module installation must be carried our according to instructions available on manufacturer s website.

7 Rev 1.0 Date: 05/2017 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MEASUREMENT OF BUS TERMINATION RESISTANCE (ADVANCED CONFIGURATION) On both ends of CAN-BUS cable lines are connected by terminating resistor with 120 Ω resistance, which ensures insensitivity of the bus to signal reflections. CAN - BUS STRUCTURE Measurement of termination (resistance) must be carried out using meter with resistance measurement option, measurement is done between CANL line and CANH line after CAN filter has been removed.
