3 1 The product The Sirius i-series card reader is a versatile card reader which supports multiple card technologies and communication protocols. In addition, this card reader is able to support different technologies simultaneously like Mifare classic and DESFire EV1. The card reader is equipped with a function to automatically adjust the antenna on and off when no activity takes place around the card reader. The detection is based on proximity. The purpose of this functionality is to create a card reader as energy efficient as possible and only activate the antenna when a person or card is detected near to the card reader. This manual provides the necessary information concerning the installation instructions, mounting and use of the card reader which is supplied as standard. The Sirius i-series card reader: Sirius i80 Sirius i80/p 1.1 Sticker i-serie On the back of the card reader a sticker placed. This sticker features a QR code. After scanning this QR code, all necessary information will be downloaded automatically. 1.2 Spacers The spacer is designed for the following purpose. It can make the card reader more robust for external influences but it can also be useful when installing the Sirius card reader on existing plants Sirius i80(p) Spacer Outside mounting spacer

4 1.3 Default reader configurations When using a default Sirius i-series card reader, four configurations are possible The configurations are described in the paragraphs below. Remark: For more information about the additional options, please contact your contact at Keyprocessor. Remark: The Sirius-i80/P (Pincode) card reader will only work in combination with a Polyx door controller Polyx/Orbit Mifare- MifareDesfire Part number: Standard communication: A Polyx based on RS485 An Orbit based on Clock/Data - MIFARE Classic & MIFARE DESFire EV1(coded) Output length when using Clock/Data: When using Mifare Classic, the output length is 8 digits When using Mifare DESFire, the output length is 12 digits Standard LED function: When the reader is provided with power, the LED color is Red. When the LED connection is switched to GND, the LED color is Green Standard IO function: When using Mifare Classic, the output length is 8 digits A standard configured card reader does not use the extra IO functionality. When this function is needed, you need to order another card reader. See chapter & Programmable: The card reader is not programmable.

5 1.3.2 Chip Serie nummer (CSN) Part number: I I80p Default Card reader protocol: An Orbit based on Clock/Data. Output length based on Clock/Data: The length of the Chip Serial Number (CSN) is 4 byte swapped (10 digits decimal) Attention! When using a 7 byte (random) CSN, the card reader must communicate with a Polyx. In this case you need to order another card reader. See chapter & Standard LED function: When the reader is provided with power, the LED color is Red. When the LED connection is switched to GND, the LED color is Green Standard IO function: A standard configured card reader does not use the extra IO functionality. When this function is needed, you need to order another card reader. See chapter & Programmable: The card reader is not programmable Sirius i-80 programmable using configuration cards Part number: After connecting the Power to the card reader, the LED turns blue / purple. A configuration card is needed to turn the reader in operational mode. You can order a configuration card via Keyprocessor. To create 'custom' configuration cards extra costs will be calculated Sirius i-80 programmable using PS application and configuration cards Part number: After connecting the Power to the card reader, the LED turns blue / purple. A configuration card is needed to turn the reader in operational mode. The card reader is fully programmable using a PC application and you re able to create your own configuration cards.

6 2 Installation and use By the use of ferrite, the card reader is insensitive to be installed on a metal surface. 2.1 Location Determine the location where the Sirius card reader should be installed. There is a maximum cable length between the reader and door controller. Exception: using an external power supply, you can increase the achievable distance between the door controller and card reader. Install the reader with a minimum lateral distance of 20 cm from each other. 2.2 Mounting instructions Mount the card reader preferably on an outlet Picture 1: Sirius i80 measurements Pull the cable through the mounting plate of the Sirius reader. The screw hole of the card reader should be placed on the underside. Mount the back plate of the card reader to the outlet, using the existing screws. When not removed, remove the orange colored film of the Buzzer Click the front of the card reader at the top of the mounting plate Attach the front of the card reader to the mounting plate with the supplied 'special mounting bolts.

7 2.3 Use of the i80/p When entering the PIN code, the finger must be released at least 1 cm from the panel before the next digit is entered.

A higher input voltage results in a lower power consumption and provide cost-effective wiring with a smaller diameter of the conductor. When using an external power supply, it must comply with the SELV guidelines. 3.2 If door controller Polyx The Sirius card reader can be connected in two ways with the Polyx : directly or by using an Adapterboard For optimal communication, it is recommended to have the latest version of one of the following operating system 2.6 JFSS2 3.3 UbiFS

10 3.2.2 Connection using an Adapterboard Recommended cable type between a Polyx and the Sirius card reader, using an Adapterboard is: Shielded cable with twisted pairs If a direct connection is not possible, an Adapterboard must be placed between Polyx and the Sirius card reader. Adapterboard and Polyx are connected with a default UTP cat5 cable (or higher) (plug connection). Connecting wires as shown in the diagrams below.
