6 Safety Instructions 1 Safety Instructions WARNING Imminent threat of personal injury and damage to property due to incorrect system settings! The correct adjustment of the RCL to the current setup status is essential for the correct function of the system and of the crane. The RCL can only operate correctly if all settings are entered correctly according to the current rigging state of the crane during the SETUP procedure. The settings can only be carried out by operators who are completely familiar with the operation and functions of both the RCL and the crane itself. The correctness of these settings must be guaranteed before starting the crane operations! The RCL is not, nor is it intended to be, a substitute for good operator judgment and/or experience, nor does it remove the need for utilizing only recognized safe procedures during crane operations. CAUTION The user limit function is a monitoring function. Crane movements are not switched off when user limit values are reached or exceeded! If one or more limits are reached or exceeded, the background color of the LIM key changes to yellow. The corresponding values are also displayed in yellow. The audible alarm will not activate! CAUTION Damaging the front panel or the display due to improper cleaning methods! Never use solvents or similarly aggressive materials for cleaning the front panel or the display! 1.1 EC conformity declaration The technical design and construction of the qscale I2 system corresponds to requirements of the EMC directive 2004/108/EC and therefore carries the CE symbol. The device complies with the following standards: EN 12895:200, EN 13309:2010, EN ISO 14982: 2009 The full conformity declaration is available from the manufacturer on request Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH Mobile Machine Control Solutions 6/53

7 Product Description 2 Product Description The qscale I2 is the operable interface of the system (referred to below as the RCL ) and is used for selecting and entering operating parameters and displaying the current crane operating and system data. The RCL detects the readings from different sensors and recognises crane overload statuses depending on different parameters. Visual and audible signals alert the user of the overload status. Scope of manual This manual describes the operation and functions of the Hirschmann qscale I2 overload protection system for SPYDERCRANE units. NOTE The qscale I2 contains several menus where queries and settings can be made only after entering a password. The description of these functions is not part of this user manual. The overload protection system consists of the following components: a qscale i2 central control unit with built-in display and operating elements: a cscale DIO CAN I/O extension box: various sensors for data measurement The system components are installed in suitable positions onto or inside the crane Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH Mobile Machine Control Solutions 7/53

8 Product Description 2.1 Product Identification The type plate carries the unique identification of the qscale i2. It is located on the back of the device. Please make a note of all information on your type plate before making queries about this product. Type plate (example) Figure 1: qscale I2 Product identification 2.2 Use for the Intended Purpose The qscale i2 console is the interface of the Rated Capacity Limiter system (RCL). The RCL detects a crane overload status depending on various parameters. The crane driver is warned well before the onset of an overload status via visual and audible warning signals. Although the system has signal outputs to switch off the crane movements, this power-off is effective with corresponding external wiring. Although the system incorporates functions for monitoring adjustable geometrical limit values with visual and audible warnings and a relay output in the event of limit values being exceeded, the system cannot be used as an operational limit switch. The crane driver is responsible for the safe operation of the crane Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH Mobile Machine Control Solutions 8/53
