1 Generail Information on Fieldbus Systems FEATURES Solenoid air operated valve manifolds for date exchange via fieldbus. Internal wiring by Z-Board plug-in system. Plug-together flexibility due to different assembly and wiring options. Software or manual configuration of address and baud rate settings. NPN or PNP sensor types with same input module. Designed to meet IP65 / NEMA. Manifold delivered assembled according to customer specifications. COMBINATIONS Modules of up to 3 valves can be grouped together. Optional mixing of: - All functions of dual 3-ported, -position, 5-ported, -position single or double actuated and 5-ported, 3-position valves. - Pressure separation plate and intermediate pressure supply module. I/O data is transmitted in frames that provide simultaneous and predictable updates to all devices on the network. 5 G- Electronics Fieldbus Systems Foundation Fieldbus H1 (FF H1) Foundation Fieldbus H1 is an open protocol governed by the Fieldbus FoundationTM. Intended primarily for process control applications, it is designed to easily integrate field level devices such as transmitters and actuators over a digital communication network running at 31.5 Kbit/s. The General Purpose I/O (GPIO) mode of this communication module can control up to 3 digital Inputs and 16 digital Outputs. Outputs can be any combination of the integrated manifold s valve coils and discrete output modules. This mode is perfect for automating process valves over an FF network where enhanced diagnostics are not required. The Valve Monitoring System (VMS) function of this mode emulates 8 separate FF enabled valve position indicators. This function has the ability of automating 8 process valves over 1 FF node while retaining the complete diagnostic capability of 8 separate FF nodes. Enhanced diagnostic capability of this function allows automatic monitoring of Travel Times, Break Times, Lost Position, Cycle counter and Auto Calibration. DESCRIPTION Foundation Fieldbus communications module (node) 5 pins 7/8 bus connector REPLACEMENT PART NUMBER 0-17 GPIO and VMS functionality can coexist on the same manifold. The maximum digital I/O count is 3 Inputs and 16 Outputs. VMS functionality allocates digital Inputs to every valve station so a maximum of 8 valves and 16 inputs are allowed with this function. The remainder can be allocated as GPIO. The optional Logic Transducer mode allows user to write local logic to be executed independent of DCS. NOTE: When specifying valve position indication as inputs into the valve manifold input module use gold contact mechanical switches. This chipset is obtained from Allen-Bradley and incorported into the Numatics RIO node. This product incorporates technology which is licensed by Allen- Bradley Company, Inc. Allen-Bradley has not technically approved, nor does it warrant or support this product. All warranty and support for this product and its application is provided solely by Numatics Inc. 8 Allen Bradley 1771 Remote I/O CONNECTION The front panel of the communication module for Allen Bradley 1771 Remote I/O is equpped with a 5 pin 7/8-16 UN male socket (E) for the bus cable (E). The bus can be connected in the two following ways: directly to the module with a T-connector; with a straight connector, cable (max. length: 3 m) and distributor box. 9 ControlNet G- Electronics Fieldbus Systems ControlNet node Power supply module ControlNet is an open network that meets the demands of today s industrial applications required high speed (5 MBIT/sec.), high throughput with predictable and repeatable transfers of mission critical data. Originally developed by Allen-Bradley, it is based on the Control and Information Protocol (CIP) technology. The governing body for the ControlNet technology is ControlNet International LTD. 11 FIPIO Interface G- Electronics Fieldbus Systems The FIPIO fieldbus is a standard means of communication between different control system components. It enables max. 56 devices to be connected at the connection point integrated in the processor. This fieldbus conforms to the WorldFip standard based on producer/consumer mechanisms. It is designed for remote location of I/O up to 15 km away. FIPIO protocol is designed to support both determinstic data-transfer and also random messaging. 13 G-1 Electronics Fieldbus Systems AS-Interface AS-interface offers a simple and quick technology to connect the various elements of a system with each other. With AS-interface, actuators and sensors can now communicate over a direct fieldbus connection, which was technically not possible in the past. Data and auxiliary power are transmitted over a single cable. The profiled AS-interface cable is designed for AS-interface interconnectivity. The special trapezoidal profile of the -wire cable prevents polarity reversal. The electrical connection is made with prongs which pierce the AS-interface cable offering high-reliability electrical contact. This contact technology eliminates the need to cut and strip wires. The electrical connection of a Numatics AS interface network can therefore be made in the shortest amount of time. The yellow cable (Y) is for data transmission and power supply to the sensor inputs. The black cable (B) is for power supply to the spool valves. AUX. 16 G- Electronics Fieldbus Systems Discrete I/O Modules Discrete I/O modules are used to connect additional I/O devices to the valve manifold node. This provides for more efficient use of system resources when configuring a communication system. Up to I/O points can be addressed with a single communication module. I/O modules are available with Sub-D connectors or with round connectors.
