3 System highlights The system is universally applicable for production machinery, primary and secondary packaging, end-ofline packaging and robotics The system architecture is based on open, internationally accepted hardware and software standards that protect your investment, reduce overhead costs, and provide cost effective access to production and diagnostic data With the integrated motion/logic software, run in a standardized IEC program and on a single Pentium class processor, you achieve the highest performance and lowest engineering costs With EPAS-4, a single integrated software tool, you can configure and diagnose the complete system, parameterize and commission the servo axes and field bus devices, and program motion and logic Jerk-free motion generation for all axes as well as onthe-fly motion corrections and changes of master axes are performed in the controller to prevent unnecessary network delays, rather than distributed to the drives as in previous generations The complete system is fully digital, supports at least 99 servo axes per controller and can be synchronized in real time with another 40 controllers The system is open for the integration of other systems, such as human-machine interfaces with or without Windows, field buses and field bus modules, variable frequency drives and servo motors Only IEC standard programming languages, device buses and motion networks are used for interoperability and simplified integration IT communications standards such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, XML, OPC, SMPT, HTTP and FTP are integrated to interface with ERP, MES, diagnostic and other management systems The system is equipped with an integrated telediagnosis capability via modem or Internet For good engineering practices as well as simplified validation in regulated industries (FDA validation), the automation system offers a library of documented, IEC compliant, off-the-shelf function blocks that also makes programs leaner, with faster executing code Overall, a more plug-and-play environment for programming, operation and maintainability To support future requirements without unnecessary expense, ongoing software development efforts are backward compatible
