Areas of application WATER GAS POWER ENVIRONMENT The existing technology allow you to create complete solutions for management, control and monitoring of remote plants designed to highlight all economic, technical and maintenance aspects. Often these technologies are based on industry standards, such as Internet/Web platforms, thus eliminating investments in complex organizational structures and maintenance. 3 Remote Control for Water Networks Thanks to the experience and know-how gained in thirty years of operation in automation and process control, FAST offers integrated and innovative solutions regarding to: Network supervision Water supply efficiency evaluation Leak detection Smart Metering Pressure control Flow control Tank level control Management of pumping station Coordination of geographically distributed equipment Management of service and maintenance FAST offers AQUALOG RTUs, realized with the most advanced technologies available, they have been designed considering the trend of technological development, such as the computing power, the low energy consumption, the communication, the integration in the SMART GRID, WEB and IEC logical languages. The Aqualog family includes models suitable for low power applications dedicated to installations where the electric power isn t available. The AQUALOG RTU can be easily integrated into SCADA systems of each vendor being equipped with standard protocols and with common interface facilities. In particular they integrate automatically with AQUASOFT products. 3

4 Remote Control for Gas Networks Thanks to the use of highly innovative technologies, FAST is able to offer a wide range of proposals and solutions, all designed and produced for specific use in the gas sector. For R&M stations and final reduction units (FRUs) FAST offers remote control devices capable of operating independently both in terms of communications (in wireless mode) and power supply (using its own batteries). G-LOG is particularly suited to be installed in hazardous areas, being supplied with ATEX certification and having been produced in keeping with the CENELC EN50014 EN50020 norms. The devices on offer may be integrated with supervision systems, making it possible to verify the process parameters at any time and from any device connected to the global network simply via a WEB browser. For Metering Units FAST has developed Genius, a new generation of low-consumption devices which performs volume conversion while also offering datalogging and communication facilities. The device, designed to be telemanaged by a centralised data-collection system, operates alongside the SAC Net Explorer software system, an indispensable tool for an operational centre, entirely WEB-based and designed to undertake the collection of information from data-loggers and to redistribute the information wherever an Internet connection is available. For cathodic protection FAST has developed CathoNex, a WEB-based software package aimed at monitoring the cathodic protection systems of gas distribution facilities. The system gathers data from T-LOG type devices throughout the territory and elaborates the information calculating the cathodic protection efficiency as set out in the AEEG guidelines, preparing yearly reports on the state of cathodic protection of the facilities as required by Italian law. 4

5 Remote Control for Smart Grid The growth of distributed generation requires a new network model, that can handle large amounts of power placed on the grid by medium to small renewable sources. This new network model, called Smart Grid, makes use of a communication network capillary and at low cost, to communicate with the generators spread over the territory, and of a control systems, to ensure an orderly functioning of the network. FAST makes available innovative and technological skills be able to: design and implement automation and process control systems for energy production plants; connect small / medium renewable energy plants to the grid; realize supervision and real-time data acquisition systems which control the functioning of the network providing data for fast power adjustments. 6 Remote Control for geognostic investigations FAST provides major innovations to the world of territorial and structural investigations, developing effective and efficient solutions that enables timely intervention anticipating emergencies. In particular, FAST proposes a remote control solution based on the use of Plant View Overland, the SCADA system designed and developed by FAST dedicated to the supervision of many different remote units located on territory to monitor critical environmental situations. The purpose of the design, maintenance and management of geological and structural monitoring systems "remotely controlled" are the following: provide information and guidelines to local authorities who need to install a monitoring system for structural or geological on its territory in order to transfer and make available data and information to regional or national; provide design engineers a framework of methodologies and technical specifications of the equipment used for monitoring the event; ensure appropriate design and maintenance over time to limit the vulnerability inherent and unavoidable of monitoring system no matter how well designed and implemented; standardize the methods of data acquisition both automatic and manual; standardize management procedures in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of controls; retrieve and update, as far as possible, obsolete systems or abandoned; create a unique data store thanks to implementation of a database created with data entry and defining validation mode; make readily available the data defining modalities of consultation and access to archives. 6
