3 SET-UP: 1) Turn the system power off. 2) Connect the 1-ft card reader cable to the keyboard cable. 3) Connect the 5-ft card reader cable to the keyboard port of your system. 4) Turn the system power on. OTHER OPTION SETUP MSR200 series keyboard simulator magnetic card reader has two working modes: - Operation Mode - Other Option Setup Mode The position of these switches are pre-set at operation mode by factory, and normally do not need to be changed by user. The other options, that user can select by using keyboard programming mode, are as below: - Keyboard type setting (SW2) - Transmission speed setting (SW6) - Transmit control character enable/disable - Prefix character enable/disable, up to 5 characters - Suffix character enable/disable, up to 5 characters - Track selection - Beeper enable/disable - Return to default setup - List of program commands - Display current setting 4

Keyboard Type Setting (SW2) To set the keyboard type from AT-PS/2 to XT: 1. Turn off power to the host PC. 2. Set MSR DIP switch 8 to OFF position. 3. Turn on power to the host PC. 4. Type the following keys and then press enter: UKX. (the MSR will beep as each key is typed). 5. Turn off power to the host PC. 6. Set MSR DIP switch 8 to ON position. 7. Set MSR DIP switch 2 to ON position. Note: Step 8 is required for XT keyboard type command ( UKX ) only! 8. Set MSR DIP switch position 1 to ON. 9. Reapply power to the host PC. The same procedure (above) is used to change from AT-PS/2 to special PS/2 type keyboard or from XT to AT-PS/2. The keystrokes for each are: UKP<enter> to change to special PS/2 or UKA<enter> to change to AT-PS/2. B. Speed setting (SW6) To set the keystroke speed to 80 characters per second: 1. Turn off power to the host PC. 2. Set MSR DIP switch 8 to OFF position. 3. Turn on power to the host PC. 4. Type the following keys and then press enter: US8 (the MSR will beep as each key is typed). 5. Turn off power to the host PC. 6. Set MSR DIP switch 8 to ON position. 7. Set MSR DIP switch 6 to ON position. 8. Reapply power to the host PC. The same procedure (above) is used to set the characters per second to 25 and 40. The keystrokes for each are: US2<enter> for 25 C/S or US4<enter> for 40 C/S. C. For all other option settings 1. Turn off power to the host PC. 2. Set MSR DIP switch 8 to OFF position. 3. Turn on power to the host PC. 4. Type the command key and then press enter. 6
