4 INTRODUCTION Congratulations on purchasing The Minivend 4. To ensure you get the most out of your Minivend 4 please take some time to study this instruction booklet. The Minivend 4 can connect to many devices i.e. Photocopiers, Fiche and Microfilm reader printers/scanners and Laser printers. When installed copying/printing operation of these products will be controlled by cash payment. Coins are inserted, credit and copy costs are displayed on screen and copies can be made. The cash credit decreases as copies/prints are produced until the credit is exhausted, the host device will then stop producing copies/prints and the Minivend 4 will display the prompt Insert Coins. The Minivend 4 has a key operated override facility that will put the Minivend 4 into FREE VEND. Cash will not be required or accepted in this mode. Other Key Features Accepts up to six different types of coin, uses UK sterling and is Euro compatible. Large capacity cash box, holds up to 2000 coins. Can charge separately for A4 black and white, A3 black and white, A4 colour and A3 colour, dependent on the copier. Full audit trail available on screen or by printout, giving both time and date of report. Easy to use operator functions accessed via key and push buttons. Scrolling user display comprehensive user and operator information is viewed across a scrolling backlit LCD display. Optional printer available (see contact details on back page). Page 1 of 10
5 CAUTIONS Please note the following cautions regarding the use of this product. Environmental The Minivend 4 is intended for indoor use only and must not be operated in any public area unless installed by a suitably qualified engineer. Do not use strong detergents to clean the Minivend 4. Instead wipe down with a damp cloth. Electrical The Minivend 4 must be installed and connected to the host device only by a trained engineer. The Minivend 4 must only be powered by the external power supply (included) and be plugged in to an appropriate mains supply via a wall socket. Do not connect or disconnect any internal or external connector with the power applied with the exception of the optional printer lead. Operational The Minivend 4 should not be operated in any area unless all covers and connectors are securely fastened in place. Do not continue to use the Minivend 4 if the Power supply or any interconnecting cables show signs of damage. Connectors The connectors used by the Minivend 4 are fairly common and are used by other pieces of equipment for other purposes. Do not connect unauthorised equipment to the unit even if the connectors appear to be compatible. Keys The Minivend 4 is supplied with four keys, a pair of Operator Keys and a pair of Cash Box keys. Do not lose the keys spare keys are not available. Replacement locks are available from your service provider. Page 2 of 10
6 Operator Menu The Minivend 4 has a simple menu system, which is accessed with the operator key and coloured programming buttons on the rear. To access the operator menu press and hold the green button whilst turning the operator key in the key switch found on the right hand side. To return to normal operation at any point during programming turn the operator key to its normal position. The coloured programming buttons will allow you to navigate through the menus and their sub menus. GREEN = enter/forward, RED= back, BLUE= down, BLACK= up Menus and sub menus: Time and Date Hour Minutes Weekday Day of Month Month Year Reports Display Reports Print Reports Clear Counters Cost Menu Cash Limit Costs (varies with installation) Display Menu Display options Effects Display Speed Display Pause Setting up Costs and Cash Limit Access the operator menu as described above, use the Black button to find Cost Menu, press the Green button to enter into the cost sub menu. Pressing the Black button will scroll through the cost sub menu. Cash Limit* A4 B&W A3 B&W A4 COLOUR A3 COLOUR Press the Green button to select required option. Page 3 of 10
7 The display shows the description and amount, with a flashing cursor over the first digit. To adjust this amount use the Black or Blue buttons to increase or decrease the flashing digit. The Green button will move the cursor along to the next digit and the Red button will move the cursor backwards. To save the new amount press the Green button repeatedly until the message Saving is displayed. *The Cash Limit is the maximum amount of cash per single transaction the Minivend 4 will accept before displaying the message CASH LIMIT. Customising the Display Access the operator menu as described on page 3, use the Black button to find Display Menu, press the Green button to enter into the Display sub menu. Pressing the Black button will scroll through the Display sub menu. Display Options Display Effects Display Speed Display Pause Press the Green button to select required menu each menu will then have a list of options: Display Options Date Display (display date yes/no) Time Display (display time yes/no). Display Effects scroll left Scroll right Wipe left Wipe right Flash Sequence (a random mixture of all five effects). Display Speed The higher the number in this setting the faster the display will scroll. Display Pause The higher the number in this setting the longer the display will pause between messages. Any changes made in the Display Menu will automatically be saved, the message Saving will be displayed. Page 4 of 10
8 Reporting Using the Display Access the operator menu as described on page 3, use the Black button to find Reports, press the Green button to enter into the Reports sub menu. Pressing the Black button will scroll through the Reports sub menu. Display Reports Print Reports Clear Counters Select Display Reports and press the Green Button this will then give you a list of options: CASH TOTALS COPY COUNTS COIN COUNTS SYSTEM REPORT Select the required option and press the Green button to step through the report CASH TOTALS Total Cleared** subtotal etc. ** See clearing residual cash on page 7. For a more detailed list refer to sample printout on page 6. Reporting Using a portable printer A portable printer can be purchased as an optional extra. See contact details on back cover. Make sure your printer is attached to the Minivend 4 s serial data port at the rear near programming buttons and is online. Access the operator menu as described on page 3, use the Black button to find Reports, press the Green button to enter into the Reports sub menu Pressing the Black button will scroll through the Reports sub menu Display Reports Print Reports Clear Counters Select Print Reports and press the Green Button the message displayed on the Minivend 4 will be PRINTING Page 5 of 10

10 Clearing Totals Access the operator menu as described on page 3, use the Black button to find Reports, press the Green button to enter into the Reports sub menu Pressing the Black button will scroll through the Reports sub menu Display Reports Print Reports Clear Counters Select Clear Counters and press the Green Button the message displayed on the Minivend 4 will be CLEAR NO If you wish to clear the counters and totals press the Black button the display will read CLEAR YES Pressing the Green button now will clear your counters and totals Clearing residual cash Use this function if you wish to clear residual cash credit from the Minivend 4 s display. In normal operating mode turn operator key until the message FREE VEND is displayed, then turn the key back into normal operating mode and the credit will then be cleared from the screen. Any cash credit cleared in this way will show up on the report in Cleared Cash. FREE VEND mode In normal operating mode turn operator key until the message FREE VEND is displayed. The Minivend 4 will now operate the copier without the need for cash; any copies made whilst in this mode will show up on the report as FREE VENDS. Page 7 of 10
11 Solving Problems Not accepting money Coins could be jammed in coin validator. Repeatedly press the white reject button on front of the Minivend 4 until coins are released into reject slot. Do not use hard or sharp implements to remove jammed coins, as this will cause irreparable damage to the coin validator. CASH LIMIT message displayed. Cash limit has been reached make copies to reduce credit or clear credit by turning the operator key (see clearing residual cash on page 7) FREE VEND message displayed: Unit is in Free Vend mode, turn the operator key to return the unit back into normal operating mode. No display /appears dead Is the power supply undamaged and securely plugged into a working wall socket? Is the power supply cable undamaged and securely plugged into the rear of the Minivend 4? Display flickers / moves to fast, adjust display settings in the display menu (see customising the display on page 4) Not controlling the connected device Is the device plugged into a working wall socket, switched on, warmed up and ready for use? Are all cables connecting the Minivend 4 to the device undamaged and securely connected? Is there enough credit to enable copying/printing to commence? Check credit and costs displayed, if required insert more money or adjust prices in the Cost menu (see setting up costs and cash limit on page 3) Page 8 of 10
12 Not printing out report Are all cables connecting the Minivend 4 to the portable printer undamaged and securely connected? Is the portable printer fully charged? Check the printer is functioning by performing a test print (consult your printers manual). Is the printer offline, if so put the printer online (consult your printers manual). Memory Error If the Minivend 4 displays the message MEMORY ERROR please contact your service provider. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Power requirements - Regulated 12 VDC power supply rated at 500mA Dimensions 950mm high x 131mm wide x 145mm deep Weight Approx 9Kgs (unpacked) The serial/model number plate supporting the CE certification mark can be found on the rear panel.
