1 OfficeSuite Wireless DECT Module Instructions Welcome to OfficeSuite. These easy-to-use instructions will help you set up and start using your OfficeSuite wireless DECT handset and/or headset with your OfficeSuite phone. For an easy how-to video, point your browser to: CONNECTING THE CORDLESS ACCESSORIES MODULE Whether you are installing the wireless DECT handset or the wireless DECT headset or both, you must first install the Cordless Accessories Module. 1. Disconnect all cables from your phone including Ethernet cords and corded handset cable. Remove the phone stand. Lay the phone face down on a cloth or paper to protect the LCD screen. If you have any questions during activation, call us Monday through Friday 8 AM 9 PM EST at (Authorized Agents dial ). BEFORE ATTEMPTING INSTALLATION 1. Ensure you have the correct parts. The wireless DECT handset consists of two parts: Cordless Handset w/ Charging Plate and Cordless Accessories Module. The wireless DECT headset also consists of two parts: Cordless Headset w/ Charging Cradle and Cordless Accessories Module. NOTE: If you are installing both the handset and headset on the same phone, you only need one unit of the Cordless Accessories Module. Return any spare parts to us. 2. Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw that holds the back panel in place. Remove the back panel and set it aside. Save the screw. 2. Ensure you have a compatible OfficeSuite phone. The phone models that are compatible with the wireless DECT handset/ headset are: OfficeSuite 24-Key Phone (Model 5330 and 5330e) OfficeSuite 48-Key Phone (Model 5340 and 5340e) OfficeSuite Color Touch Screen Phone (Model 5360) 3. A phone can support only one of the following accessories: Wireless DECT handset and/or headset, Conferencing Unit, or Receptionist Module. If the phone already has a Conferencing Unit or Receptionist Module installed, you cannot install the Wireless DECT handset and/or headset. 3. Unpack the contents of the Cordless Accessories Module. The jumper is pictured to the left of the module. 4. Tools required: #1 Phillips screwdriver A needle-nosed pliers or large tweezers.

2 4. Install the jumper provided in the slot on the backplane of the phone. Note the jumper is keyed to permit installation in one orientation only. The screwdriver points to the installed jumper. 3. Unpack the contents of the Cordless Handset w/ Charging Plate. 5. The arrow points to the connector. Remove any protective piece that may be installed in the slot of the connector. 4. Install the Charging Plate jumper cable into the slot provided on the phone. It s keyed to allow installation in only one orientation. 6. Install the Cordless Accessories Module on the phone. Be sure to align the connector on the module with the connector on the backplane of the phone (see arrow in image above). Use the screw removed in step 2 to fasten. 5. Install the Charging Plate being sure to insert the lip of the charging plate into the slot on the phone and snap in place. Fasten with the screw from step 1. INSTALLING THE CORDLESS HANDSET Note: If you are installing only the Cordless Headset w/ Charging Cradle you may skip this section. 1. With the phone face down, remove the screw from the lower right corner. Save the screw. 2. Turn the phone over and remove the plastic piece from the lower left corner at the bottom of the handset cradle.

3 INSTALLING THE CORDLESS HEADSET W/ CHARGING CRADLE Note: If you are not installing the Cordless Headset w/ Charging Cradle you may skip this section. 1. Unpack the contents of the Cordless Headset w/ Charging Cradle. 5. Connect the battery to the headset by sliding it back until it clicks (see image from Step 1 for arrow on the battery). Connect the ear piece to the headset by pressing the ring onto the round receiver on the battery. If you ever need to remove the battery, reverse the procedure. 2. With the phone face down, remove the two screws from the top left corner and bottom left corner. Do NOT remove the side plate of the phone. 6. Optionally, you may connect the headset via the over-thehead bracket. 3. Install the headset charging cradle with the two longer screws provided. 4. Connect the charging cradle cable to the jack on the Cordless Accessories Module. Ensure it s securely connected as it may have a tendency to pull out and cause the headset cradle to lose power for charging. PAIRING THE CORDLESS HANDSET/HEADSET WITH THE PHONE 1. Place the handset in the charging base and/or place the headset in the charging cradle. The LED blinks green when charging and is steady green when fully charged. A full charge may take up to 3 hours. A new, fully charged battery will have a talk-time of 8 hours.

4 2. Ensure the handset/headset is at least partially charged before attempting to pair the device(s) with the phone. 3. To pair the handset/headset to the phone, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the Cordless Accessories Module for 5 seconds to activate telephone pairing mode. The blue LED on the module blinks and the phone display prompts you to press the pairing button on the cordless device. USING THE WIRELESS DECT HANDSET/HEADSET 1. Login to the phone with your OfficeSuite extension and PIN. Charge your device(s). 2. The range is 300 feet, but limited by factors such as battery charge, interference from other electronic devices, office layout, and building construction. For best results, use only within your office or adjacent offices. 3. Density of DECT 6.0 devices permits 1 active device per 40 square feet. 4. The handset controls are, from left to right, volume down/up, microphone mute, and hookswitch. They are labeled clearly with pictograms. Operation of the controls on the handset will be reflected on your OfficeSuite phone. 4. To pair the handset to the phone, perform step 3, then press and hold the hookswitch until the blue LED on the handset blinks. The screen on the phone will prompt you if you want to pair this device. Press Yes. Press Close. 5. On the headset, the silver, crescent-shaped button is the hookswitch. The button on the top of the headset can be pressed down to mute and unmute the microphone or it can be slid forward or backward to increase/decrease volume. Operations of the controls on the headset will be reflected on your OfficeSuite phone. 5. To pair the headset to the phone, perform step 3, then press and hold the silver, crescent-shaped hookswitch at the top of the headset until the blue LED on the headset blinks. The screen on the phone will prompt you if you want to pair this device. Press Yes. Press Close.

5 6. To receive an incoming call, press the hookswitch momentarily. Disconnect the call the same way. NOTE: If engaged in a call and a second call comes in, pressing hookswitch will disconnect caller 1 and connect you to caller Outbound calls must be dialed on the keypad of the phone or via programmed speed dials on your phone. Troubleshooting If you experience any problems with the wireless accessory, ensure the following: Your device is paired with your phone. Your device is fully charged. You are not using the device in an environment with heavy interference from other wireless devices, microwave ovens, and other radio frequency sources. You are not using your device in an environment with device density greater than one device per 40 square feet. If your headset is not charging, check the cable connection on the back of the phone to be sure it has not pulled out. If your devices will not maintain a charge, you may need to replace the batteries.
