The application areas range from low camera count systems up to nationwide system comprising of thousands of video streams and under a uniform management system. The VMX video management system based on distributed server/client architecture supports any type of network topology from basic single server operation to complex server mesh. The VMX products consist of software and associated hardware for control, process ing, viewing, distribution and recording of signals required in CCTV applications. The VMX software is supporting operation with standard based video (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MJPEG and H.264), audio and data. The Teleste VMX products are delivered together with industry standard server hardware. Each component has been selected and optimized specifically keeping in mind the nature of real time video networking application. All products have been thoroughly tested before delivery and deployment. The final touch is provided with the flexible and scalable licensing scheme that allows an easy approach for later system extensions and upgrades. 3 System License The licensing of an individual VMX system is divided into two layers of functionality. The higher layer is governed by System Licenses (XSL) that defines and control system wide parameters such as number of video streams and recording loops, number of connected servers, clients, NVRs etc. whereas the component level Component Licenses (XCL) control functionality within a single unit running a specific VMX application. System license describes to the VMX System Server the elements allowed to be used and connected within a single system id. It comprises of the actual system license, system level connection licenses and underlying system components. Component license describes to a VMX component such as e.g. Client the functionality that is active within a particular instance of that component. The number of concurrent web client user connections is one example of this. The application related optional component licenses are listed underneath each application VMX System License These licenses define parameters and functionality on system level. E.g. the number of recording channels (XSL301) is defined globally on system level and can be distributed freely and flexibly across a number of NVR units within a system. 4 VMX Server VMX Server is the core of Teleste Video Management System. All management communication and handling of system alarms takes place via this unit. It is responsible for user rights management including arbitration of priorities. The configuration of system and component parameters is handled through Setup Controller application and stored into server s database. Additional system intelligence is available in a form of Bandwidth manager. This add on application will interact with the server in order to automatically balance the network load with video streaming parameters. 5 VMX Web Access VMX Web Client provides cost efficient access to VMX system over Internet through standard Web browser. VMX Web Access is an http based version of VMX Client. The application provides operator an interface to control system devices, components and resources with applicable user rights over an http connection using standard web browser. The Web Access product consists of Web Server and Stream Reflector. The Web Server provides web content for HTML pages and control of camera presets and PTZ whereas Stream Reflector is providing the video content to the Web Server by transcoding incoming video streams into MJPEG, a format that is suitable for browsers. The scalability is achieved by connecting multiple Stream Reflectors into the Web Server. The basic application is available for 10, 20 and 40 simultaneous Client connections. 7 VMX NVR The VMX NVR is available in different hardware formats depending on the requirements for cabinet space, video storage capacity as well as for backup functionality. The standard NVR is delivered with an entry level 1U hardware for low budget video storage. The professional NVR comes with higher storage capacity with RAID support and redundant power supply. After this the differences are mainly in the storage size and fault tolerance. S-VMX NVR has the key role in storage and retrieval of evidential video material. When the built in storage is not sufficient, the NVR units can be equipped with an optional host RAID controller for external storage array. Alternatively the video storage can be based solely on external storage arrays when using NVR in a dedicated hardware. 9 VMX System Storage VMX System Storage is an external hardware storage component of Teleste Video Management System. The storage is based on SAS array featuring reliable high capacity 6.0 Gb/s SAS interfaces and video optimized NearLine SAS disk drives. VMX System Storage units can be attached to any VMX NVR unit by means of host RAID controller for external storage. VMX Storage capacity for recording application can be extended up to 48TB by VMX System Storage. The System Storage is available in a 2U rack mount format having 12 bays for hot swap 3.5 HDDs. The System Storage supports different levels of RAID and a maximum of eight system storage units i.e. 96 hard drives can be daisy chained behind one VMX NVR unit. 11 VMX Telemetry Controller VMX Telemetry Controller provides a communication interface for PTZ camera control. It translates the camera control commands from Client station to vendor specific PTZ protocols. Telemetry Controller functionality is built in into the VMX Server. The separate VMX Telemetry Controller unit is needed is systems, where the number of PTZ controlled cameras is higher than what can be supported by a single server unit. 12 VMX Auto-Diagnostics Server The VMX Autodiagnostics application is doing background scanning of video images in order to detect camera tampering such as moved camera, out of focus, covering of camera etc. There is an additional license (XSL706) needed for each stream being monitored as well as a configuration fee (CON002) per camera. The standard hardware for Autodiagnostics Server is based on 2U rack mount chassis (R2) with hot swap redundant power supply. 13 VMX SDK API The VMX SDK is a software development kit for development of own Client interface to VMX system. The SDK includes Teleste VMX XML API documentation for selected software suite and ten (10) hours of remote support via e mail and/or telephone. Additional support is available as a separate service.
