2 1 Abstract This document contains information on new features and changes introduced with the latest software version. Finally, this document provides an overview of the tested and supported range of functions of the different software versions. 2 Validity This document applies for the SeMSy III Video Management System. 3 4 Innovations and Improvements Send Bookmark Messages with Access Permission to User Groups In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, bookmarks can now also be sent as messages to user groups. In addition, a period with shared access rights can be defined around the bookmark point in time if the user group does not have the required access rights to the corresponding recording / camera. Access sharing is limited to a set period of time (in minutes) before and after the image of a bookmark event. Bookmaks are displayed as new messages in the Inbox in SeMSy III. Users from a user group with limited rights can view the image saved for the bookmark in an active split and evaluate the recording in the defined time period with playback control. Comments / notes can be added to a bookmark message. It is still possible to address bookmarks to individual users only. This means that access to a defined recording period can also be set up for individual users. Display Panomera Grid The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System offers the possibility to display the grid of the individual modules of a Panomera Multifocal sensor system in the Mainviewer. The respective IP addresses of the modules are also displayed. The displayed grid of a Panomera serves as an indicator for the module arrangement and is placed directly over the image of a camera stream for this purpose. The actual dimensions of the modules are shown with all possible overlays of the module side areas. Control of Zoom Factor Behaviour during Mode Change-Over In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, it is possible to control the behaviour of the SmartZoom function when switching from live to playback mode. By default, a selected zoom ratio is reset for fixed and PTZ cameras when a camera is switched from Live mode to Playback mode (or vice versa). A Panomera multifocal sensor system retains a preset zoom factor even when changing modes. The zoom factor behaviour can now be adjusted in the configuration tool SeMSyConfig. In addition to the standard behavior described above, it is now possible to completely deactivate the zoom factor reset for all camera types (including fixed and PTZ cameras) when changing modes. It can also be activated for all camera types (including Panomera ). 3

4 Playback of Backups on Variodecoders The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System now offers the possibility to playback backups in splits on Variodecoders. Generic Fisheye Option for 3 rd Party Panoramic Cameras In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, panoramic cameras from 3 rd party manufacturers can now be operated with the new camera profile Generic Fisheye. The camera profile, for example, offers an improved dewarping function of the panoramic views on Variodecoders. Password-Protected Locking of PTZ Camera Control In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, the function Lock PTZ for locking a PTZ camera control has been extended and improved. This can now be easily activated or deactivated via the split context menu or the corresponding VMC touch button. An info note also shows in the menu bar of the SeMSy III user interface which user has set up the current locking. With this function, the control of a PTZ camera can be blocked by an authorized user with a password. Other users will not be able to use the camera s control functions again until the lock is removed by password entry. The password can be chosen freely and is not subject to any password guidelines. However, a user with higher privileges can override a lock at any time, unlock (override) it without entering a password, and set up a new password-protected lock if necessary. The rights assignment for setting up the Lock PTZ function and the right to overwrite a lock is configured for user groups in the Rights manager module. 4

5 User Actions for Lock PTZ Function Can Be Requested in the Logbook In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, user actions for the Lock PTZ function are logged in the Logbook module. In this way, all actions for locking and unlocking a PTZ camera are stored and can be traced and evaluated exactly. Configuring the Home Position for PTZ Cameras Centrally in SeMSyConfig In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, it is now possible to define the home position of PTZ cameras via the SeMSyConfig configuration tool and thus centrally manage it. In this way, a time-consuming configuration of the function for each individual camera can be avoided. In the PTZ Home Functions dialog, which is opened in SeMSyConfig via the encoder context menu, the time period (timeout) can be set in seconds after which a PTZ camera automatically moves to a defined home position when the camera of this time span is idle (non-movement / operated). A function such as a preset (camera position), a pattern (stored area departure) or a tour (monitoring tour) can be configured as a home position. In an additional setting, however, in contrast to activating the automatic home position, it is also possible to specify a time period for preventing the automatic home position for a PTZ camera. Prevention is triggered by minimal camera movements that can be precisely adjusted in speed and direction. This function must be enabled separately in SeMSyConfig under Ini Values for SeMSy Server. Preventing Home Position from Being Automatically Activated by PTZ Cameras The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System allows to prevent the automatic activation of home positions in PTZ cameras globally. The function is centrally controlled for PTZ cameras that were previously configured via the encoder context menu PTZ Home Functions. This function can also be combined with the function Lock PTZ. This also prevents activation of the automatic home position for a locked PTZ camera. 5

6 New Functions Available for Joystick Key Assignment In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, new functions for the freely configurable joystick keys F1 to F4 have been added. The following options for activating cameras are now also available: PreviousCam (previous camera in the camera tree) NextCam (next camera in the camera tree) AlternativeCam (alternative camera) RecallPreviousCam (pre-activated camera) Display of the Message Text of Active PGuard Alarm in the Viewer In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, the corresponding message is additionally displayed in the respective viewer when a PGuard alarm is evaluated. If the display of a PGuard alarm is activated from the alarm list, the configured split layout is activated in the Main or Subviewer with the corresponding cameras. In the current version, the respective info text of the message is now also displayed here in the menu bar of the viewer. A tooltip that is triggered by a mouse over the message also contains the comprehensive message text. This may be necessary if, for example, the currently set window size of the main viewer is not sufficient for the complete display of the info text. New Subcategories for Evaluation of PGuard User Actions in the Logbook In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, the subcategories for the PGuard category have been extended in the Logbook module. This means that an even more comprehensive and detailed evaluation of user actions for the PGuard module is now available. In the new version, it is now possible to query user actions on live filters (call, create, delete, update), the ignore rule (create, delete) and the liveswitch decoder function (create, delete, update) comprehensively and thus track them exactly. 6

7 Selected Criteria are Retained when Searching Databases in PGuard In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, the recently selected criteria are retained during a data search in the PGuard module. These are available again when the search is opened again. Only by selecting new search criteria will the previous criteria be rejected. Hide Comment Field in PGuard Dialog Edit items The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System offers the possibility to permanently hide the comment field in the Edit items dialog in the PGuard module. In this way, an improved clarity for the dialog display can be achieved with extensive use of the comment function by operators. The comment field is not displayed again in the Edit items dialog until it is activated again. Skip to Track End / Start on Playback with Confirmation Dialog The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System has been extended to include the confirmation dialog for jumping to the end or beginning of a track during playback. If the button track start / track end is clicked in the Playback module, an operator has to confirm this action in a subsequent info dialog. In this way, accidental triggering should be prevented and the risk of accidentally discarding a manually set time should be minimized. In addition, a button with a reset function has been integrated into the Playback module. This button is displayed whenever a jump to track start or end has been activated. In this way can be easily returned to the previously selected point in the track by using the reset button. 7

8 Comprehensive Integration of the Split Streaming Function The Split Streaming function is now fully integrated in the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System. This function allows to record the stream of a split continuously. This means that the display in a Main or Subviewer split is permanently recorded all camera changes, in live and playback mode on a recording system. Thus, for example, a backup can be quickly and easily made and exported from an event in different situations (all cameras which have been activated by an operator one after the other during an event). In this way, a maximum of two streams can be recorded simultaneously from one workstation. Example: Mainviewer split 1 + Subviewer split 1 Note that when using the Quick Recording function at the same time, a stream is always used for Quick Recording. Example: Split Streaming in Mainviewer split 1 + Quick Recording in Mainviewer split 3 = no further stream for Split Streaming available; only after completion of the Quick Recording procedure a second stream can be recorded again with Split Streaming. But: Quick Recording can be combined with Split Streaming in one stream. Example: Split Streaming in Mainviewer split 1 + Split Streaming in Subviewer split 1 = Quick Recording can be used simultaneously on one of the Split Streaming splits (Mainviewer split 1 or Subviewer split 1). An RTSP channel must be configured on the required recording system for continuous stream recording. The corresponding splits on the workstation viewers are configured via the DisplayPlugin.ini XML file. In addition, the workstation must be equipped with a CUDA *) enabled NVIDIA *) graphics card. It is recommended to use the GeForce *) GTX 1070 graphics card from NVIDIA. In addition to the paid update for SeMSy III 1.8, a chargeable license for one or two streams (DLD - SeMSy III Split Streaming I / II) for the Split Streaming function is required. *)The trademarks NVIDIA, CUDA and GeForce are trademarks or registered trademarks of NVIDIA Corporation headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA Creating and Exporting Quick Camera Recordings in the Mainviewer In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, a clip can be recorded from a split in the Main or Subviewer. When the clip is complete, the recording is exported to a connected media and saved via the file manager. The function is started and stopped via an on-screen button in the split. The recording is exported in the file format mp4. Please also note the possible combinations with the function Split Streaming. 8

9 Comprehensive Reporting Function for Failover Manager Client In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, the Failover Manager Client has been extended with a comprehensive reporting function. This feature allows to view not only the current failover status, but also the complete history of failover operations. It is also possible to carry out the evaluation only for a certain period of time. In addition, a failover report can be exported as a CSV file and evaluated and further processed in a corresponding application for spreadsheet calculations. Multiple Failover Servers in One AreaCode The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System now allows to operate more than one Failover Server in an AreaCode (system area). Each individual physical server can form its own logical server pool. Controlling Camera Tooltips in the Navigator via Rights Manager In the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System, the camera tooltips can be activated or deactivated in the Navigator module. A tooltip shows IP address and connection status of the respective camera, for example. These tooltips can be activated or deactivated individually in the rights management module via the Display tooltips permission for workstations and user groups. Unicast Configurable as Standard Transmission between System Locations The current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System offers the possibility to define unicast as the standard transmission for receiving video streams for an area code / system location. With this new feature, an area code / system location can be configured to allow workstations in that location to receive even multicast streams from other system locations as an unicast transmission. This makes it possible, for example, to conserve transmission resources in networks with lower bandwidth. This function requires a license that is subject to charges. 9

10 Enhanced Password Policy for Uppercase Letters The configuration of the complexity requirements for passwords has been extended in the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System. It is now possible to define the number of uppercase letters in the minimum requirements for passwords additionally. In this way, the password requirements can be composed of uppercase letters from A to Z, lowercase letters from A to Z, numbers of base 10 (0 to 9) and other than alphabetical characters (e. g.!, $, #, %). Of course, a minimum character length has to be defined always additionally. Extended PTZ Comands for FLIR Cameras Extended PTZ commands for cameras of the 3 rd party manufacturer FLIR have been integrated in the current version of the SeMSy III Video Management System. The following commands are now available: Flat Field Correction Non Uniformity Compensation Automatic Gain Control Digital Details Enhancement Auto Focus Auto Focus Near Polarity IR Brightness Increase / Decrease IR Contrast Increase / Decrease This PTZ functions can now be used in addition to FLIR cameras in SeMSy III, if supported by the respective device. General Optimizations Various optimizations have been integrated into the current version of SeMSy III Video Management System in the course of general system maintenance and stability improvements.
