5 STERN PRODUCTS LINE, MAXIMIZING LEED CREDITS Stern s products can be used to help achieve LEED certification. In the water-efficiency category of new construction rating scale, a 20 percent reduction in interior aggregate water consumption is a prerequisite for LEED qualification versus standard fixture requirements. Two LEED points are credited for achieving a 30 percent reduction, an additional point can be earned for a 35 percent reduction and one more for a 40 percent reduction. Based on the number of points earned in the five key areas, LEED provides four levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. All certified projects receive a LEED plaque, the nationally recognized symbol demonstrating that a building is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work. FAUCETS All Stern s faucets are labeled to meet WaterSense criteria and feature a 6 liters or a 4 liters per minute flow rate (compared to the standard flow rate of 8 LPM) without sacrificing performance. The result is water conservation of up to 30 or 50 percent while contributing toward maximizing LEED points. Stern offers a cost effective way to reduce the costs of dispensing water in public areas by minimizing the amount of waste water. Unlike manually operated faucets that are often left running or partially turned off, electronic faucets switch automatically after use. This ensure water conversation and saving on water expenses, generating water saving of more than 70% compared to regular faucets. II Stern faucets also include a Security Time limit adjustable by remote control. Security time control prevents continuous flushing of water. By default, if the sensor is covered for more than 90 seconds, the water flow will shut automatically. This security feature can be used to reduce the water flow as well. When a user places his hands within the sensor range the faucet is activated automatically. The water will flow until the user removes his hands from the sensor range. HABITAT VERSIONS - ADDITIONAL TOUCH OPERATION Habitat versions include a piezo element integrated in the faucet cap for alternative touch operation, used to fill in the sink or a pan. When a user touches the piezo area in the middle of the ring of light, a flow cycle of 20 seconds will be completed. The light will blink while water runs out of the faucet. TEMPRA VERSIONS - REAL TEMPERATURE INDICATION Tempra versions include both touch free and touch operations. In addition, they include temperature indication that is done by a second sensor located inside the body.the second sensor senses the temperature of the water used, and commands the ring of light accordingly. The result is a gradual transition of colors from blue to red that intuitively indicates the real temperature of the water.

27 EXTREME WM PROX Versions The Prox versions include a proximity detection sensor. This sensor detects an object (the user) at a given distance. The default detection range can be easily changed manually or using the Stern remote control. Besides the sensor range, Stern s remote control allows to change and perform the following settings and functions: security time, delay in time, delay out time, on-off and reset. Water will be delivered automatically when the user places his hands in front of the sensor. Water will shut off when the user s hands will not be present within the sensor range, but only after a predetermined time have passed (delay out time). WAVE on - wave off Versions The Wave versions allow the activation of the faucet by placing a hand within a close distance from the sensor eye. The Wave sensor includes a smart PCB unit with default sensor range, flow time, security time, delay in time and delay out time settings that are adjustable using the Stern remote control. The following settings can be adjusted and the following functions can be performed: The detection range refers to the greatest distance an object can be located to activate the system. The sensor range in all Stern products can be changed using this button on the remote control. Detection Range Press the RANGE button. Wait until a quick flashing of the red light of the sensor eye is perceived. Then, press + to increase the detection range and to reduce it. ENTRANCE TO THE SELF ADJUSTMENT MODE Check that no objects are in front of the sensor. Press the ADJ button. Once a quick flashing of the red light of the sensor eye is perceived, remove your hand holding the remote control and move away from the sensor area. The ideal sensor range for the specific location will be set automatically. Once the self adjustment has taken place the solenoid valve will be opened and closed for 1 second as an indication that the ideal sensor range was set and the product is ready for use. Security time The Security time, present in faucets and shower controls, prevents continuous flushing of water due to reflection or vandalism. By default, if the sensor is covered for more than 90 seconds for faucets or 10 minutes for showers, the water flow will shut automatically. To resume regular operation any obstruction must be removed. Press the SEC button. Wait until a quick flashing of the red light of the sensor eye is perceived. Then, press + to increase the security time and to reduce it. This button applies to flush valves for toilets with an infrared dual flush system. On these flush valves, the full flush time can be changed using the two waves button and the short flush can be changed by using this one. If required, the short flow time can be short Flow time modified as follows: Press the one wave button. Wait until a quick flashing of the red light of the sensor eye is perceived. To activate the hygiene flush, press the clock button. Wait until a quick flashing of the red light of the sensor eye is perceived. Then press + to activate the hygiene flush or to deactivate it. It is possible to program a lock out time in Stern products upon request. This lock out time allows a user to activate the faucet, flush valve or shower only after a specific amount of time has passed. For example, a shower control at a camping site can Lock out time limit users to have a shower only after 20 seconds has passed since the last use. If a specific lock out time was preset in a Stern product as default, and you would like to deactivate it, press the lock button. Wait until a quick flashing of the red light of the sensor eye is perceived. Then press to deactivate the lock out time. To activate it again, press the lock button and without releasing it, press the + button once. This function is ideal to perform any kind of activity in front of the sensor without operating the system (for example, cleaning). Faucets and flush valves will remain shut for 1 minute and Temporary Off function showers will remain close for two minutes when this button is pressed once. To cancel this function and to return to normal operation press the On/Off button again or wait 1 or 2 minutes depending on the product. Reset button This function allows the sensor to return to the original factory preset settings. If required, press the Reset button and without releasing it, press the + button once.
