Ordering information 6DD AH0 Processor module PM4 with 4MB RAM for software version from Function description The PM4 processor module in the SIMADYN D system is used to process technological open- and closed-loop control and arithmetic tasks. It includes a 32-bit RISC-microprocessor R MHz with the associated periphery. Plug-in program memory modules (MS5, MS55 - slot X50) are used to program the board - the user program and the system firmware (operating system, monitor program, code of the function blocks...). The user program runs on the processor under the real-time SIMADYN operating system. This guarantees, depending on the interrupts configured, controlled, fixed cycle times of 1 ms. Four binary inputs (connector X5) are provided for data transfer with the process periphery. The binary inputs can be declared as interrupt inputs per software. If the signal status changes at such an alarm input, the processor exits its cyclic program and the interrupt-controlled function package is processed (process interrupt job, PIJ). All of the binary signal cables are not directly connected at the processor module, but indirectly through interface modules. The interface modules are used as mechanical connection element and to electrically adapt the signals received from the plant. The plant signals can be directly connected to these interface modules. A serial interface (connector X01) is provided for diagnostics. The 7-segment display H1 on the front panel of the board displays an - while the system is runningup, and under normal operating conditions, the configured processor board code. The display flashes with a fault/error code if the board develops a fault. The HEX monitor can be activated when a fault signal appears, by depressing key S1. A board reset (restart) can be initiated with the double test socket X10, X11. In this case, both sockets must be jumpered using a switch or short-circuit plug connector. An 80-pin test connector X21 on the board is used for hardware diagnostics using a logic analyzer. Three watchdogs are provided on each processor module to monitor the hardware and software. The hardware monitoring functions check: - arbitration delay for system bus accesses - ready signal delay for system bus accesses - ready signal delay for local periphery accesses - exception, processing time - system bus error messages The software monitoring functions check: - whether the processor is still running cyclically. An exception interrupt is generated if the monitoring function identifies an error, and the processor attempts to remove the cause of the fault to re-establish cyclic operation. If the fault cause is the processor itself, the board is de-activated and the red point in the 7-segment display is lit. The system error bus line is simultaneously activated. 9 Application information 4. Application information The PM4 processor module can be used in the large SR8 subrack with local- and communication bus. It occupies 1 slot in the subrack. The subrack must be equipped with bus terminating modules or an interface buffer memory board. The board can be used at any slot with slot number coding which has a SIMADYN D system bus interface. It should be noted, that a local bus master (processor module) is inserted at the far left slot. If this is not observed, then the local peripheral boards do not have the 8 MHz clock supply. For multiprocessor configurations, unassigned slots must be provided with the daisy chain jumper. To ensure perfect operation, the board must be screwed to the subrack (also during start-up). If the board is inserted in an adapter, the front panel must be connected to the rack housing using a short cable. It is not permissible that the board is inserted or withdrawn under voltage. The binary inputs are connected through interface modules, which are retained using a clamping bar. The connection between the board, connector X5, to the interface modules is established through a ribbon cable. The following connection is provided: All of the four binary inputs are routed from PM4, connector X5 to the SU12 interface module using a 10-core ribbon cable. 16 ESD instructions 10. ESD instructions Components which can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge (ESD) Generally, electronic boards should only be touched when absolutely necessary. The human body must be electrically discharged before touching an electronics board. This can be simply done by touching a conductive, grounded object directly beforehand (e.g. bare metal cubicle components, socket outlet protective conductor contact). Boards must not come into contact with highly-insulating materials - e.g. plastic foils, insulated desktops, articles of clothing manufactured from man-made fibers. Boards must only be placed on conductive surfaces. When soldering, the soldering iron tip must be grounded. Boards and components should only be stored and transported in conductive packaging (e.g. metalized plastic boxes, metal containers). If the packing material is not conductive, the boards must be wrapped with a conductive packing material, e.g. conductive foam rubber or household aluminum foil.
