4 Center for Electric Power and Energy (CEE) Technical University of Denmark (DTU) Strong power system and renewable energy research CEE is part of the Dept. of Electrical Engineering at DTU w. 300 staff. CEE s competence areas are: i) electric power components, ii) electric power grids, iii) distributed energy resources and control, iv) energy system operation and management, and v) energy analytics and markets. The center has ~100 staff members, including ~30 PhDs and ~10 postdocs. CEE links with 1,000+ researchers at DTU within energy research. Close industrial collaboration 100+ industrial partners in 80+ ongoing projects. Includes: A full-scale experimental control centre, Europe s most powerful university real-time simulator, advanced hardware-in-loop testing, large-scale smart grid test grid, full-scale renewable-based power system at Bornholm island (40,000 inhabitants). Open for all as self-service or full-service. International interaction Each year CEE hosts ~1-2 visiting professors and 5-10 visiting PhDstudents. Host international conferences, latest IEEE ISGT2013 (750 attendees). IEEE journal editorships and WG/TF-members. Innovation Patents within e.g. realtime stability assessment, power component design, smart grid technologies and market bidding strategies. 10 Cost Reducing Technical Solutions for the Future Power Systems Main objective: Deliver solutions for reducing investment costs and operational costs of renewable power systems. Description: The project will investigate the benefit of applying dynamic component ratings and intelligent control room solutions in reducing the total costs of renewable power systems. Solutions will be evaluated according to economical impact as well as impact on power system reliability. Example on how dynamic -> component ratings and dynamic security assessment could be utilized in increasing transmission capacity while without overloading the system

A rigorous review of nearly 200 applications has resulted in the selection of nine finalists/nominees from a shortlist of the year s most successful projects for clean, secure and efficient energy.
