4 CONCEPT HISTORY Netzwerk- Network carrier Fraunhofer Institute developed the LEEN Management System during the 5 years 30 Pilot Networks project LEEN Bera ter Moderator Energ Consultant ietec hnisc her engineer LEEN as a spinoff of Fraunhofer society is now running the system and leading the further development under the name LEENIZE ( LEENIZE can be used by networks as well as by single companies. Currently it is used in several countries like Germany, Austria, and Belgium and to some extend in some Asian countries 4

5 NETWORK STRUCTURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM LEEN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM A typical network consists of 8 to 15 companies. Each of the companies should have annual energy costs of at least 150,000 to ensure that the participation in the network is profitable for the company. Crucial roles in the course of a network are played by the network manager (organization), the moderator (e.g. organization and conduction of the network meetings) and the consultant engineer (energy audit / review, monitoring). LEENIZE is also the integrated management system (web based), planning, reporting and benchmarking of comparative analysis) of initiatives and measures regarding energy efficiency. 6

9 FEEDBACK FROM LEEN USERS/REFERENCES 80% rated the benefits of network participation at least as rather high in comparison to the effort of participation 60% used network contacts outside the network meetings 90% rated the meeting topics discussed and site inspections at least as good 80% rated that the measures identified during the energy review phase fully met their expectations More than 60% stated that the network participation increased the attention of the management for energy efficiency 9
