3 Background Within the framework of WHYCOS, WMO in collaboration with the IRD developed the Carib-HYCOS project. The project was co-financed by the Regional Council of Martinique, the General Council of Martinique, INTERREG and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs The project s objectives the reinforcement of national capabilities in water resources management the promotion of international cooperation

4 Background cont d The IRD was the Executing Agency WMO is the Supervising Agency. IRD in Martinique hosted the PRC including the PMU and the server with the regional database The PMU was assisted by the CIMH and the INSMET for the English and Spanish speaking countries respectively.

6 Participation cont d Collaborating Centre - CIMH To assist PRC in the implementation of the activities in the English speaking countries; To facilitate communication between the PRC in the English speaking countries; To contribute to capacity building activities in the project when required; To participate to the Steering Committee meetings and to assist the PRC in the organization matters. To strengthen links between NMHSs in the English speaking countries.
