1 Product: Transport Dark Fiber Geographic Service Availability Transport Services are available to all commercial and wholesale customers with in the Summit Broadband area of operations. Connectivity to locations outside of these counties can be assessed on an individual case basis. Customer Base Summary Dark Fiber Transport services are ideal for customers that require high quality, dependable self-managed network services. Target customers include: Carriers seeking alternative to the large capital expense of building their own routes Enterprise customers needing scalable connectivity at predictable monthly costs. Enterprise customers needing high speed data replication to an off-site location Business customers that require multi-location connectivity Value Proposition and Customer Benefits This service leverages the client s internal expertise and resources to manage their own network without barring the large capital expenditure to build it themselves. It has predictable and consistent monthly costs, is scalable, secure and the client maintains full control. Service Overview Transport services deliver high-bandwidth in either Point-to-Point, Point to Multi-Point and Mesh connections over our fiber optic network. There are three main categories of Transport services; Dark Fiber, Ethernet and TDM. Capabilities Dark Fiber Dark Fiber services provide fiber-optic connectivity an enterprise or carrier can fully manage in house. It is infinitely scalable to the client s needs as defined by the equipment they choose to install. It can be built from two fiber strands to multiple strands on any one segment. Summit Broadband s fiber hand off is Single Mode (SMF) and can be at a Summit Broadband installed fiber panel or tail in a hand hole. There are three forms of deployment within the Dark Fiber product. Point to Point Fiber provisioned between two specific points. No Summit Broadband electronics on the circuit. Managed Dark Fiber Point to Point fiber with client specified electronics installed and maintained by Summit Broadband. Dark Fiber Extensions Dark fiber from a Summit Broadband Lit DMARC (A-location has Summit Broadband premise equipment while Z-location has an optical hand off) Benefits Dark Fiber Point to Point -Secure -- private fully-dedicated physical network infrastructure. -Cost effective As clients need for more bandwidth increases monthly Dark Fiber costs remain consistent and predictable. -Scalable Network capacity is easily increased as requirements dictate. -Control Client with in-house expertise can manage their own network. Dark Fiber Managed Dark Fiber -The same as Point to Point service with the added benefit of utilizing Summit Broadband to maintain and manage the network segments. -The ability to gain operational expense the network verses capitalize the network. 2 Deployment Required Customer Specifications The following information enables our Service Activation team in providing a smooth installation of services. During the pre-sale process, a site survey may be completed to capture the following information: 1) Clearly defined A and Z locations 2) Customer fiber count needs 3) Customer handoff requirements (bare fiber/ connectorized panel) 4) If MDF client bandwidth / equipment needs (current and annual forecast) 5) If DFE clients service requirements 6) Customer has a UPS* for power backup *All deployed services require power. A power failure would take down all services unless a UPS backup or alternative power supply is in place to support equipment Service Delivery Method and Equipment Below are the possible physical connectivity methods and corresponding customer premise equipment deployed during service activation. Service will be delivered to the minimum point of entry for a business location, the customer premise demarcation or specified meet me hand hole. Any required demarcation extension could result in additional costs to the customer. If not specifically requested by the customer, Summit Broadband will terminate fiber in SC APC panels within buildings or provide a 12ct loose tube fiber tail with in specified meet me hand hole. Summit Broadband may splice in a client-provided enclosure by special request or conversely may splice a client provided tail in a Summit Broadband splice enclosure. Fiber provided will at a minimum conform to G.652D standards. 6 Customer Service & Support Customer Installation Coordinator will manage service provisioning, test and acceptance. A birth certificate consisting of network drawing and OTDR test results will be provided at time of circuit acceptance. In the unlikely event of an unscheduled service interruption client should follow standard commercial trouble reporting and escalation procedures.
