1 edeveloper 9.4 Service Pack 8a Release Notes We are proud to introduce edeveloper Enterprise Server Version 9.4 Service Pack 8a. edeveloper 9.4 Service Pack 8a is an improved and updated version of the edeveloper 9.4 release. Read the information in this document to find out more about this latest edeveloper version. 2 General Information General Information Installing Service Pack 8a When you install edeveloper 9.4 Service Pack 8a using the installation wizard s Upgrade option, the wizard automatically replaces the files that were modified since your previouslyinstalled version. edeveloper 9.4 Samples Package The Samples package demonstrates the new edeveloper 9.4 features. You can download the updated Samples package from our FTP site using the following link: ftp://ftp.magicsoftware.com/v9product/94samples/ Special Settings A special setting, sometimes referred to as a special flag, is an entry in the Magic.ini file that modifies the behavior of the product in specific areas. A detailed list of the supported special flags is available in a separate document, which you can download from this link: ftp://ftp.magicsoftware.com/v9product/documents/specialsetting.pdf edeveloper Licensing Mechanism edeveloper has a built-in license-metering mechanism that uses your local area network (LAN) to communicate between edeveloper instances running on different machines on the network. 3 General Information edeveloper for iseries New Features & New Products The Single Sign-On feature in edeveloper lets you connect to iseries without entering an OS/400 user profile and password. By using Single Sign-on, you can sign on once to a network server and automatically gain access to iseries from your edeveloper program. The edeveloper Navigator is an out-of-the-box application that can be used immediately by iseries system administrators and operators to access system services such as Active Jobs, Spooled Files, IFS Objects, and System Values. In addition, the edeveloper Navigator enables system administrators to send , execute a CL command, and check the system status, including memory and disk usage. edeveloper for iseries SQL Client edeveloper includes the iseries SQL client 9.4 SP8a-0.11 release for edeveloper. You can read more about this in the README400sql.htm file. edeveloper for iseries ISAM Client edeveloper includes the updated version of the iseries ISAM client 9.4 SP8a-0.6 for edeveloper. You can read more about this in the README400.htm file. edeveloper for iseries DBCS Client The iseries DBCS Client installation lets you install a special iseries client for the Doublebyte character set (DBCS) version of an operating system. You can read more about this in the README400.htm file. 3

4 New Features, Behavior Changes and Fixed Problems Dynamic connection to multiple queue managers in MQSeries A new program with the public name of WMQ_OpenDestinationDynamic was added to the MQSeries component to allow you to connect to multiple Queue managers in client mode. In addition, three new error codes were added to the messaging.dat file. XML formatted errors from the Web requester The Web requester can now return errors into an XML file. The current Mgreq.ini keyword named DefHtml was replaced with DefError (DefHtml is still supported). This keyword can now accept the additional values of XML or filename.xml. Terminate Runtime engines during shutdown The broker was enhanced and can now terminate an engine (after a period of time defined in the ShutdownTimeout keyword) even if the engine does not shut down gracefully. This can be done by defining the Mgrbi.ini s new keyword called TerminateEnginesDuringShutdown with a value of Y. Browser Client Internet Explorer Crash (QCR # ) Internet Explorer crashed when executing a certain scenario in a Brower Client application. Browser Client OLE Variable (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when running a Browser Client program that had an OLE variable with automatic instantiation. MVCS Models (QCR # ) The MFF file was corrupted when it was created by a user, while another user added a model to the Model repository. MSSQL Operation Failed (QCR # ) edeveloper showed an incorrect message that the operation failed upon modifying rows, when the table had a trigger on an Update operation that executed another update that actually affected no records. Subtask List Create New Task (QCR # ) A subtask was not created after pressing F4 in the subtask list opened from a Call operation, if it was done after creating a parent task. 4

5 MSSQL NVARCHAR(MAX) (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when working with a field defined as NVARCHAR(MAX) in MSSQL Vectors Performance (QCR # ) Scanning a matrix (a vector of vectors) showed an exponential growth of time instead of a linear growth. MSSQL Direct SQL (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when executing a Batch program with a direct SQL that executed a User Procedure which selected both a Numeric 12 column and a Blob NVARCHAR(MAX) column. DB2/400 Link Operation (QCR # ) The Link operation read the file sequentially when encountering the Waiting for locked record error. MSSQL Range (QCR # ) Range was not working properly for the REAL SQL type. Browser Client Error Messages (QCR # ) Error messages displayed in a message box were not translated according to the Const file that was used. Call Remote Operation Components (QCR # ) The Call Remote operation was slower if there were components defined in the called application. Browser Client Installation (QCR # ) The MGBCCLR1.DLL was not installed after running the DotNetMsi.msi. Functions Chinese OS (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed after sending several s simultaneously on a Chinese operating system. 5

6 DefError XML Formatted Errors (QCR # ) The errors returned by the requester were displayed in the default XML format even though a customized XML file was specified in the DefError flag in the mgreq.ini file. Update Undo Undo (QCR # ) Performing Undo in the parent task after performing Update with Undo=No in a child task did not work properly when the parent task called the child task in the Control Prefix. Export V10 Export (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when performing Export for Version 10.x in a specific scenario. Control Verification Allow Drag (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed after clicking on a field with Allow drag =Y and a Control Verification handler that raised an event which was caught in the Main program and issued a Verify Error. GUI Output Form Color (QCR # ) The color attached as an expression to a GUI Output form was not displayed at runtime. MSSQL IDENTITY (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed while inserting a record into a table when the table had another index defined with an INTEGER IDENTITY field not selected in the program. Pervasive Link Join (QCR # ) Link Inner Join did not work when the Locking Strategy of the task was set to Immediate. Browser Client Sort (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when opening the same file in two Browser Client programs, of which one of them had a Sort defined on a table, and the other program was closed before the one with the Sort. Application List INIPut() (QCR # ) Entries added to the application list via the INIPut() function were not shown when the Application list was reopened. 6

7 Table Control Mouse Events (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when running a program that had Mouse Out or Mouse Over event handlers defined, and the mouse pointer was moved over the scroll bar section of a Table control. Pervasive Locate (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when locating an empty string in Link Inner Join or Link Outer Join. MSSQL MAGICKEY (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed while inserting a record into a table whose index contained a field defined with the MAGICKEY=Y tag, and the field was not selected in the program. Checker Link Join (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when executing the Checker on a specific program that contained a Link Join program. MGRQCMDL Application Name (QCR # ) The MGRQCMDL utility truncated the application name to 15 characters. Super Right Key Import (QCR # ) The Super Right key was not saved when importing and exporting the application without closing the application in between. Colors 256-Color Resolution (QCR # ) edeveloper colors were dithered when working in a 256-color resolution. MSSQL IDENTITY (QCR # ) edeveloper failed to retrieve the newly added value of the IDENTITY field from the TASK SUFFIX when the table had a primary key defined on that field. Table Control Locate (QCR # ) The cursor position and the Row Highlight color remained on the located record even when the user moved to another record by using the Down Arrow key in the table. 7

8 DB SQL Range Date (QCR # ) An error was returned when a DB SQL Where range was done on a Date attribute field. Printing Main Program (QCR # ) edeveloper crashed when calling a printing program from a handler defined in the Main Program. Profile Log (QCR # ) An incorrect total task time was displayed in the MGPROFT log file. Batch Task Link Write (QCR # ) Wrong data was displayed when updating a table using a Batch task or grouping records and using the Link Write operation. Print Data Text Output (QCR # ) The Print Data option added a superfluous semicolon to the text value when it was defined as the delimiter and it resided inside a string. Rich Edit Control Cut/Copy (QCR # ) It was impossible to perform Cut and Copy operations of the last characters shown in a Rich Edit control when the control had very large data in it. LDAP Comma Delimiter (QCR # ) Logon to LDAP failed when a comma was defined as a delimiter that would be added between the first and last name. Edit Field Components (QCR # ) Typing of characters in an Edit field was slower if the application contained a lot of components that were loaded immediately. Navigator Focus (QCR # ) The focus did not shift to a different task after clicking on its entry in the Navigator pane; this occurred after entering a task by clicking on its entry in the XRef Result pane. 8

9 Functions RqCtxInf() (QCR # ) The RqCtxInf() function returned information even if the respective engine was shut down. Log File Task Description (QCR # ) The mgerror.log file did not show the task description for each error when multiple errors were generated in a single request. Print Preview Multi Line (QCR # ) Data was not displayed properly on the Print Preview when Multi line was set to Yes. MSSQL - IDENTITY (QCR # ) An updated IDENTITY column value was not inserted correctly into the record.
