3 Migration Cookbook Migration Cookbook The Migration Cookbook summarizes the steps required to migrate applications from Business FLEX release 242 to Business FLEX 250 (BF250). BF250 supports migration of Business FLEX applications from BF242.2 patch. If you are in the earlier point releases, you should first migrate to BF242.2 and then migrate to BF250. This document is a high-level document that is intended to summarize one particular migration scenario. This document does not apply to all environments, does not cover all possibilities, and is not a replacement for the installation or upgrade guides. This cookbook applies to sites that are migrating from Business FLEX 242 and using one or more of the following applications: Blend Management, LIMS, Operating Instructions, Operations Logbook, Operations Monitoring, Production Balance, and Workcenter. Do not use this cookbook if you have OM Pro or other applications not listed here, if you are migrating from a release prior to Business FLEX 242, or have custom extensions. General Notes The applications covered in this cookbook require Microsoft s IIS Web Server, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and various service programs. Most applications also require a historian, which is assumed to be PHD in this document. Business FLEX 250 supports PHD310, PHD320, and PHD321 version. You must upgrade the historian to a release that is supported by Business FLEX 250 before starting to migrate to BF250. The server components IIS, Oracle, SQL Server, services and historian may run on one or several computers. This cookbook does not address how the server components are distributed. If you have more than one server, plan for what software need to be installed on each server. All the server components must be upgraded together. This cookbook explains how to upgrade the existing servers that are already in use. Migration Cookbook 1

4 What You Need The applications mentioned in this cookbook have some client components that are installed on end user computers. Only some users require client components, but all users who have the client components must be upgraded. With minor exceptions, Business FLEX does not support having clients from one release connect to servers from a different release. Experion Application Framework (EAF) software is shared by Honeywell s Experion PKS systems and applications. EAF includes Experion Desktop Server (EDS), Experion Application Server (EAS), and other components. This cookbook covers applications that use EDS only. This cookbook assumes that you are using Oracle 11g, release and Oracle 12c SE2, Business FLEX 250 supports SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, 2012 SP2, and 2014 SP1 (Standard and Enterprise). If you have a previous version of SQL Server, you must migrate to SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, 2012 SP2, or 2014 SP1. The migration procedure requires changes to table structures in Oracle and SQL server. Ensure that you create a backup of the database before starting migration. Business FLEX 250 supports Crystal Reports Server 2013 SP6. All server components require Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or 2012 R2. Many Business FLEX applications support internationalization. If you create the Oracle database in Unicode, it will handle all languages, including English, other Western languages, and Chinese. If you choose to create a non-unicode database, it will support only Western European languages such as English, Spanish, and German. What You Need You need the following before you begin: License keys for Blend Management, LIMS, Operating Instructions, Operations Logbook, Operations Monitoring, Workcenter, and Production Balance issued for BF250 release. 5 Planning the Upgrade Oracle Database Installation Guide for Business FLEX 250, file BFO- INS.pdf, found in the Business FLEX 250 Software and Documentation disk, in the \Documentation directory. Overall System Installation Guide for Business FLEX 250, file BF- INS.pdf, found in the Business FLEX 250 Software and Documentation disk, in the \Documentation directory. Experion Desktop Server Software Installation and Upgrade Guide, found in the EDS R340 Software and Documentation disk, in the \Documentation directory. Additional software: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, 2012 SP2, or 2014 SP1 Oracle Server and Client of 11g R2 including patch or Oracle Server 12c SE2. Crystal Reports Server 2013 SP6 plus license keys Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013, 32 bit Windows administrator privileges on all computers where software is to be installed, passwords for the Oracle SYS, SYSTEM, and TOTALPLANT accounts, and for the SQL Server sa account. NOTE: This cookbook contains links to topics in other documents. Ensure to copy this cookbook along with all documents mentioned to the same folder for the links to function appropriately. Planning the Upgrade In general, you can plan for upgrade in the following order: Upgrade Oracle Server, including upgrades to the Oracle software and the Business FLEX database. Upgrade SQL Server and then upgrade EDS. Upgrade rest of the server components. Install client software on one computer (which can be a server). Install client on the remaining computers. 6 Upgrading the Servers Upgrading the Servers Oracle Database Business FLEX 250 supports both Oracle 11g ( ) and Oracle 12c SE2 ( ). 1. Verify that you can connect to the database. Refer to the section Understanding the Business FLEX Database Upgrade in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 2. Create or update the Oracle network configuration. Refer to the section Create the Oracle NET Configuration Files in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 3. Copy the files from the Business FLEX 242 Software and Documentation disk to the Oracle server computer. Refer to the section Creating the Business FLEX Working Area in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 4. Ensure that all users are disconnected from the PRD database. Refer to the section Before you begin and Shutting down and Restarting the existing database in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 5. Create a backup of the database. Refer to the section Creating a Backup of the Database in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 6. Install the Oracle 11g software. Refer to the section Install and Configure Oracle 11g Server Software in Oracle Database Installation Guide. 7. Install the Oracle 12c software. Refer to the section Install and Configure Oracle 12c Server Software in Oracle Database Installation Guide. 8. Copy the Business FLEX database scripts. Refer to the section Copying the Business FLEX Database Scripts in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 9. Edit the file that controls installation options. Refer to the section Editing the Business FLEX Database Scripts in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 10. Run the scripts to migrate the Oracle database. 7 Upgrading the Servers 11. Stop the Application Server service. Refer to the section Upgrade Pre- 250 Business FLEX Database to 250 in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 12. Run the remaining migration scripts. Refer to the section Running the Scripts for Migration in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 13. If you want to drop database migration working tables, refer to the section Dropping database migration working tables in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 14. If your site uses PHD 300 or later as the historian, refer to the section Enable Database Synchronization with PHD300 or later in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. 15. If your site is storing text in the databases that is not English, review the section Sort Unicode Database in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide. Installing the Business FLEX Server Perform the following steps for installing the Business FLEX Server. 1. For details on pre-installation steps to be followed for Workcenter installation, refer to the section Copying BFDataFiles under Workcenter Prerequisites in the Overall System Installation Guide. 2. To prepare the upgrade of server components, refer to the section Upgrade Preparation under Upgrading Server Packages in the Overall System Installation Guide 3. Upgrade the Experion Desktop Server to release 340 as explained in the Experion Application Framework Software Installation and Upgrade Guide. 4. After the EDS upgrade is complete, validate that the datasource configuration for all the datasources like BaseBusiness in the EDS Data Access page. This is required since the system hosting the SQL server has changed and should now point to the new SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, 2012 SP2, or 2014 SP1 database. 5. Install or upgrade the Oracle client in the web server. Refer to the section Overall Prerequisites for Web Server Packages and Overall Prerequisites for Application Server Packages in Overall System Installation Guide. 6. Uninstall any previous versions of the Business Objects (Crystal Reports) runtime engine. 7. Install the Crystal Reports Server 2013 SP6. Refer to the section Installing Crystal Reports Server in the Overall System Installation Guide. 8. Install the Business FLEX server software. The master server installation program is located on the Business FLEX 250 Software and Documents disk, Migration Cookbook 5

8 Upgrading Client Computers in the \Software\Install Masters folder and is called Business FLEX Server Installs.exe. Refer to the section Server Installation Procedures in the Overall System Installation Guide. 9. If some Business FLEX server components are to be installed on another server (not including the Oracle database), repeat the previous step on each server. 10. Complete the post-installation procedures. Refer to the section Application Server Packages Post-Installation Procedures and Web Server Packages Post- Installation Procedures in the Overall System Installation Guide. Upgrading Client Computers These steps assume that you have one or more client computers to upgrade. 1. Determine the client packages that are required for each user. Refer to the section Which Packages Can Be Installed? in the Overall System Installation Guide. 2. Determine the optional settings for each client package to be selected. Refer to the section Client Package Options in the Overall System Installation Guide. 3. Make sure that all prerequisites are met. Refer to the section Prerequisite Software Requirements in the Overall System Installation Guide. 4. Install the Business FLEX client software on selected computers. The master server installation program is located on the Business FLEX 250 Software and Documents disk, in the \Software\Install Masters folder and is called Business FLEX Client Installs.exe. Refer to the section Client Installation Procedures in the Overall System Installation Guide. 5. Complete the Post-installation procedures.
