1 ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT 1.1 Overview Blending Instructions (BI) is used to perform blending instructions management. It is part of the Profit Blending and Movement (PBM) family of applications. Working in conjunction with Experion Blend Controller or Profit Blend Controller (for blend ratio control of petroleum blends), Profit Blend Optimizer (for model-based product property control), Profit Movement Management and other related applications, Blending Instructions forms part of a total solution for blending and movements automation Product Name Changes Introduced with Blending Instructions R431.1 For users who are migrating from a version of Blending Instructions that predates R431.1, the following product suite and product names were changed starting with version R431.1: Old Name Blending and Movement Automation (BMA) Experion Ratio Controller (ERC) Open Blend Property Control (OpenBPC) Inventory Monitor (IM) Movement Automation (MA) New Name Profit Blending and Movement (PBM) Profit Blend Controller (PBC) Profit Blend Optimizer (PBO) Profit Inventory Monitor (PIM) Profit Movement Management (PMM) The names of the remaining PBM applications (Blending Instructions, Experion Blend Controller, Blend Performance Monitor, Experion Tank Monitor, LIMS Viewer and Production Browser) have not changed. In general, the new product and suite names will appear in the operating displays and user documentation. However, the old product and suite names (e.g. "BMA") will continue to appear in the internal software structures, environment variables, system folder names, etc. 1.2 About This Guide This manual describes how to install the Blending Instructions Release software. It does not however provide details on how to configure the application on a target computer system. Please refer to the Blending Instructions Configuration Guide for the detailed configuration instructions. 1.3 Before You Begin Before you install Blending Instructions, you should be familiar with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft SQL Server database administration, or has access to someone who is. This document is not intended as a substitute for Windows or SQL Server database administration training, or as a description of Blending Instructions functionality. 5 1.4 Related Documents Further information about Blending Instructions and related applications can be found in the following documents. Document BI-CFG-500 BI-USR-500 Title Blending Instructions Configuration Guide Blending Instructions User Guide See the Profit Blending and Movement Software Change Notice for a complete list of the PBM user documentation. ATTENTION: Adobe Reader is required to view the PBM user documentation. Starting with Experion R430, the Experion product installer no longer installs the Adobe Reader software. As a result, customers that will be installing the PBM software with Experion R430 (or later) should use the Adobe Reader installer included on the Experion PDF Collection media, to install Adobe Reader on each PBM computer in the system. (Note: Only qualified versions of Adobe Reader can be installed with Experion. See the HPS Adobe Reader Update Guidelines from SUIT/TAC for the Adobe Reader qualification details.) For PBM installations without Experion, please install the free Adobe Reader software available from the Adobe website. 1.5 Experion and Windows Release Differences It is important to note that there are significant differences in the network and security environment that depend on the version of Experion that is being used. These differences include the Microsoft Windows operating system, SQL Server versions and RAE releases that are supported as shown below. Table 1-1 Supported Experion, Windows and SQL Server Releases Operating System Experion Release Stream Experion Station PBM Clients Experion Server LIMS Viewer Server SQL Server Experion R41x Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit) Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (64-bit) Experion R43x Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit) Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (64-bit) SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 (32-bit) SQL Server 2012 SP3 (32-bit) Experion R50x *Long-Term Servicing Branch Windows 10 LTSB* (64-bit) Windows Server 2016 (64-bit) SQL Server 2014 (64-bit) ATTENTION: Please see the latest Profit Blending and Movement Software Change Notice for the required Windows and SQL Server, service packs and patches. For simplicity, when there are differences between Experion releases the following naming convention is used: Experion R41x is used to identify the Experion R410 release stream that is supported by PBM (e.g. Experion R410.1). Experion R43x is used to identify the Experion R430 and Experion R431 release streams that are supported by PBM (e.g. Experion R430.1 and Experion R431.1). Blending Instructions Installation Guide 5
Experion R50x is used to identify the Experion R500 release stream that is supported by PBM (e.g. Experion R500.1). If Blending Instructions is not installed in an Experion environment, customers can choose which combination of Windows operating systems and SQL Server versions that are to be used. Only the combinations shown in the table above are supported. (This would apply to Blending Instructions installations with standalone Profit Blend Optimizer.) 1.6 Base Path Identification Environment Variables Used by BI The target folder for many of the PBM software components depends on the Windows operating system and version of Experion that is being used. In order to simplify the installation and to provide consistent naming conventions, the folders are identified using system environment variables. Table 1-2 describes the standard Windows environment variables set up by the operating system. Table 1-3 describes the system environment variables set up by Experion. Table 1-4 describes the system environment variables used by BI. (For a complete list of environment variables used by the PBM applications see the Production Browser Installation Guide.) Table 1-2 Standard Windows Environment Variables Standard Windows Environment Variable Name Description Windows 7 (64-bit) Windows 10 LTSB (64-bit) Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) and Windows Server 2016 (64-bit) (Experion R41x, R43x and R50x) %ProgramData% Pointer to the All Users profile folder. 8 2 ADVANCED PREPARATION 2.1 Windows System Prerequisites Hardware and Software Requirements See the Profit Blending and Movement Software Change Notice for the general hardware and software requirements for PBM clients and servers. Blending Instructions Installation Topologies See Section 6.3 of the Profit Blending and Movement Software Change Notice as well as the PBM Network and Security Planning Guide for an overview of the installation topologies that are supported for Blending Instructions. Since Blending Instructions is most commonly used in conjunction with either Experion Blend Controller (EBC), Profit Blend Controller (PBC) or Profit Blend Optimizer (PBO), the Blending Instructions software is normally installed on either the PBO Server or the EBC/PBC Display Server. If Profit Movement Management or Profit Inventory Monitor is present, the Blending Instructions software is normally installed on the PMM Control Server. See the Profit Blending and Movement Software Change Notice for the hardware and software requirements for the various PBM application servers. ATTENTION: 1 If Profit Movement Management's batch blending feature needs to be supported, and the EBC, PBC or PBO applications will not be installed on the target system, then the Blending Instructions software must be installed on the PMM Control Server. 2 If Blending Instructions needs to be installed as part of an EBC/PBC-standalone system then the AmmDB (and by association, the IIS Web Application Server and Blending Instructions software) need to be installed on nodes that are not EPKS Server(s). 2.2 Summary of Installation As a minimum, Blending Instructions requires that the PBM Client Server software be installed. Additionally, the Production Browser Client and Server software may need to be installed if integrating Blending Instructions with the Experion Blend Controller / Profit Blend Controller and / or the Profit Inventory Management / Profit Movement Management software. From a client perspective, Blending Instructions does not require any client installation unless [a] planning to use the Experion Station as the browsing environment and / or [b] planning to run the PBM Configuration Studio on client nodes. If [a] and / or [b] apply then the PBM Client software must be installed. Additionally, the Production Browser Client software may need to be installed if planning to view displays that are part of the Experion Blend Controller / Profit Blend Controller and / or the Profit Inventory Management / Profit Movement Management software. BI Installation on a PBM or Production Browser Server 1. If it is not already present, install the PBM Client Server software. 2. Optionally, install the Production Browser Client and Server software. 3. Install the Blending Instructions software and displays. 4. Update the PBM database for Blending Instructions. 9 BI Installation on a PBM or Production Browser Client 1. If it is not already present and planning to use the Experion Station as the browsing environment and / or planning to run the PBM Configuration Studio on client nodes, install the PBM Client software. 2. Optionally, install the Production Browser Client software. ATTENTION: For systems running Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2016, all executables must be run as administrator. In Windows Explorer, right-click the executable file name and select "Run as administrator" to launch the application. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 9
3 BI INSTALLATION If the BI software is set up on a redundant server (e.g. Experion Server or PMM Control Server), repeat the installation steps in this section on both servers. 3.1 Install PBM Client and Server Software Follow the instructions provided in Section 3 ( "PBM Server Installation Instructions ) and Section 4 ("PBM Client Installation Instructions ) of the "PBM Client and Server Installation Guide. The installation instructions depend on which PBM applications: EBC, PBC, PBO, PIM and / or PMM that Blending Instructions will be installed with. See the corresponding application Installation Guides for details. 3.2 Optionally, Install Production Browser Client and Server Software Browser Client Installation If the target topology requires that the Production Browser Client software be installed, proceed to install the Production Browser Client software as described in Section and Section of the PBM Production Browser Installation Guide. In this case, install the Browser Client software for each client computer that will be used to access the integrated PBM displays. Browser Server Installation If the target topology requires that the Production Browser Server software be installed, proceed to install the Production Browser Server software as described in Section 5.1, Section and Section of the PBM Production Browser Installation Guide. 3.3 Install BI Software and Displays Required Information - Background Processing Node Prior to installing the Blending Instructions software, you must know the name of the computer which is to be identified as the Background Processing node. This is the computer where changes to the PBM database table AM_BKG_PROCESS are stored. This table is used by the background processes controlled by the IS Execution Scheduler service. (See the description of the Background Process Monitor in Blending Instructions Configuration Guide for details.) The Background Processing node is the computer which is to act as the PBM or Production Browser Server for Blending Instructions. Procedure Use the following procedure to install the Blending Instructions software and displays. 1. Be sure that you are logged onto the Browser Server, using an account that has local administrator permissions on that computer. 2. In the setup files provided, navigate to the \BlendingInstructions folder, right-click the setup.exe file name and select "Run as administrator" to launch the application. 3. Review and accept the license agreement. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 10
4. In the Site Information screen, enter the Background Processing node name. If this computer is redundant, enter the full computer name. 5. In the Database Server screen, identify the computer where the PBM database (AmmDB) that is going to be used by BI is installed and provide the information needed to connect to that database. If the computer which is to act as the Database Server is redundant, enter the full computer name. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 11
ATTENTION: The PBM database must be present on the identified computer for the installation to proceed. For the database connection: If Windows authentication is selected, the current user must have sa role access in SQL Server. If Server authentication is selected, enter the user ID and password for the local SQL Server's System Administrator (sa). 6. In the Security Information screen, enter the user account and group information described below. In the Logon Account Information section of the screen, enter the mngr user account password. If not already assigned, site-specific users and/or groups can be added to the appropriate local group in the Site-Specific Users and/or Groups section of the screen. 1 (Note: This operation only needs to be performed once. If the required site-specific users and/or groups have already been assigned to the required local groups, do not repeat the names here.) 1 The names of the local groups no longer appear in the Security Information screen. They will be created automatically if they don't already exist on the target system. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 12
7. In the Custom Setup window select the installation operations that you want to perform. Select Blending Instructions to install the Blending Instructions software. Select Blending Instructions SQL Data to run the PBM database update scripts for Blending Instructions. Select BI Server to install the web-based displays and infrastructure components for Blending Instructions. 8. Proceed with the Blending Instructions installation. 9. Once the BI software installation is completed, the PBM Security Configuration Tool runs automatically. ATTENTION: 1. If errors occur when the automated database update scripts are run, a message is displayed and the Blending Instructions installation is rolled back. When this happens, install the Blending Instructions software separately. Check the log file generated by the PBM database update scripts for clues as to the nature of the problem. The.log file is stored in the {AMMROOT}\BI\Database\AmmDB Scripts directory on the Browser Server. Once the problem has been solved, rerun the Blending Instructions installation, selecting the Blending Instructions SQL Data feature in the Custom Setup window. 2. PBM Security Configuration Tool errors have no impact on the BI software installation. The tool, which is available from the Start menu at: All Programs > Honeywell BMA > Engineering Tools > Security Configuration, can be re-run any time after the BI software has been installed. See the PBM Network and Security Planning Guide for a detailed description of the PBM Security Configuration Tool. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 13
3.4 Post Installation Instructions Update the Background Process Entries in the AM_BKG_PROCESS Table The AM_BKG_PROCESS table in the PBM database defines the data connections to the background processes used by PMM, EBC or PBC to interface with the Blending Instructions (BI) application. The PBM database contains sample computer names for each data connection in this table. These sample names must be changed to match your system setup. The configuration is performed in the AmmDb database instance using SQL Server Management Studio, and depends on whether the PMM Control Server or the EBC/PBC Process Server, is redundant or not. Data Connection Configuration - Non-Redundant PMM Control Server 1. In the AmmDb database instance open the AM_BKG_PROCESS table. 2. If the PMM Control Server is not redundant, update each connection record (BkgProcessID) in this table as shown in the table below. AM_BKG_PROCESS Entries for a Non-Redundant PMM Control Server BkgProcessID BI_BMA_Request BI_XML_Mgr Node PMM-CS PMM-CS 3. In the Node field, replace PMM-CS with the non-redundant PMM Control Server computer name. Data Connection Configuration - Redundant PMM Control Server 1. In the AmmDb database instance open the AM_BKG_PROCESS table. 2. If the PMM Control Server is redundant, update each connection record (BkgProcessID) in this table as shown in the table below. AM_BKG_PROCESS Entries for a Redundant PMM Control Server BkgProcessID BI_BMA_Request BI_XML_Mgr Node <OMAControlServer> <OMAControlServer> 3. In the Node field, enter the text <OMAControlServer> (including the angle brackets). Data Connection Configuration - Standalone EBC/PBC Process Server 1. In the AmmDb database instance open the AM_BKG_PROCESS table. 2. In the Node field, replace EBCPS with the name of the computer on which the PBM Server software has been installed. AM_BKG_PROCESS Entries for a Standalone EBC/PBC Process Server BkgProcessID BI_BMA_Request BI_XML_Mgr Node PBM Server Name* PBM Server Name* * Replace the string EBCPS with the name of the applicable computer Blending Instructions Installation Guide 14
Correct the Background Process Path in the ExeName Field No matter which server the Blending Instructions software is installed on, verify the path for each background process in the ExeName field and update it if needed. For the BI processes, the executables are stored in the {AMMROOT}\BI\Bin folder. (Replace {AMMROOT} with the full path name.) ATTENTION: If the server is installed on a system running 64-bit Windows operating system or if a non-standard %HwInstallPath% path is being used, the path for each background process in the ExeName field will have to be corrected. This applies to the background process entries for both BI and PBO. If PBO is present, the background process executables are stored in the {AMMROOT}\OpenBPC\Bin folder. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 15
4 BI CLIENT INSTALLATION 4.1 PBM Client Software Installation From a client perspective, Blending Instructions does not require any client installation unless [a] planning to use the Experion Station as the browsing environment and / or [b] planning to run the PBM Configuration Studio on client nodes. If [a] and / or [b] apply then the PBM Client software must be installed as outlined in Section 4 ("PBM Client Installation Instructions") in the PBM Client and Server Installation Guide before you attempt to access the BI displays. 4.2 Production Browser Client Software Installation The Production Browser Client software needs to be installed on every client node that is intended as a browsing environment for Experion Blend Controller / Profit Blend Controller or Profit Inventory Management / Profit Movement Management displays. Proceed to install the Browser Client software as described in Section and Section of the PBM Production Browser Installation Guide. In this case, install the Production Browser Client software for each client computer that will be used to access the integrated PBM displays. Blending Instructions Installation Guide 16
5 UNINSTALLING THE BI SOFTWARE 5.1 Procedure The Blending Instructions application will normally be installed with one or more of the other PBM applications. As a result, uninstalling the Blending Instructions software must be done in coordination with the other PBM applications that are present. Be sure to consult the Installation Guides for the other PBM applications before you proceed. Use the following general procedure to uninstall the Blending Instructions software and displays on BI's Browser Server node. 1. Be sure that you are logged onto the node on which the Blending Instructions software is installed, using an account that has local administrator permissions on that computer. 2. Shutdown all PBM server and client software running on the node. 3. Stop the IS Execution Scheduler service. For a non-redundant system, use the Windows Services applet on the node on which the Blending Instructions software is installed to stop the IS Execution Scheduler service. If the Blending Instructions software is installed on the PMM Control Server, and the PMM Control Server is redundant, the IS Execution Scheduler service is automatically stopped when the redundant services are stopped. 4.
