3 Introduction Comprimato UltraPix is a product designed for anyone struggling with smooth non-linear and VFX video editing of high bitrate or uncompressed 4K or even 8K video. Comprimato UltraPix is a plug-in extension currently compatible with the Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder and Foundry NUKE VFX software and it allows switching into lower resolutions for video playback and seeking in real time. UltraPix brings UltraHD online workflow non-linear video editing experience even on a mainstream laptop. All of that without any proxy-file rendering or any new proprietary formats. It is ideal for working with 4K, 8K or VR video post-production using local or external hard drives. 2

Part of UltraPix installation are new export profiles Comprimato UltraPix JPEG2000 and Comprimato UltraPix JPEG2000 MXF for the Adobe Media Encoder that can convert any non- JPEG2000 based master to the J2K MXF file. 5 Installation on OS X and Windows Comprimato UltraPix comes as a unified installation package for Windows 10 or OS X. It requires administrator rights to be installed. The installation procedure is almost identical on both platforms and consists of the following steps (screenshots were taken on the OS X platform): 1. Close any running instances of Adobe Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder or Nuke Foundry. 2. Run Comprimato UltraPix installer. 3. Read and accept the UltraPix EULA then select Install. 4

6 4. Select which UltraPix extension(s) you would like to install. Selection may vary according to the installed software. 5. The installer automatically detects installation paths for Adobe Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder and Nuke Foundry. You can see the installation paths if you click on Show more. 6. Go ahead and click Next. 7. After successful installation click Finish. Now you can run Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder or Nuke Foundry with Comprimato UltraPix which is available automatically. 5

8 How to Use UltraPix Adobe Premiere Pro Using Comprimato UltraPix is very simple. Since it does not need any configuration and it uses existing Adobe Premiere Pro UI, it come only to opening the master file and then changing the resolution for smooth editing and playback experience. You only need to ensure that your video is in JPEG2000 format. If original video is not in JPEG2000 format, please use Adobe Media Encoder or Premiere Export options to convert it into Comprimato UltraPix JPEG2000 video format. 1. Import your mxf video file in JPEG2000 format. (In case that your mxf video is not in JPEG2000 format see section If Your Video Is Not JPEG2000) 7

9 2. Change to a resolution which gives you smooth playback and editing experience. 3. Click Play button to apply the selected resolution. You can change the resolution whenever you want and in real-time 8

10 Foundry Nuke As in Adobe Premiere, Comprimato UltraPix does not need any configuration after being successfully installed into Foundry Nuke. In order to use it follow simple steps below: 1. Open image sequence of J2K files in Nuke. 2. Open Properties window for the video and look for proxy scale item. The value ranges from 0.1 to 1.0 and it defines the rendered size taken from the original frame resolution. Once you hit play UltraPix will render selected resolution, e.g. if you enter 0.5 and you are processing 4K video, UltraPix will play it in 2K resolution. 9

11 If Your Video Is Not JPEG2000 If your master UHD file is not in JPEG2000, you can simply use Adobe Media Encoder with UltraPix installed to convert your video to JPEG2000 MXF format. The file conversion procedure is as follows: 1. Add your video source. 2. Click on the video format in Watch Folders window to get to the Export Settings. 3. From there under Format dropdown menu choose Comprimato Ultrapix JPEG 2000 MXF format. 4. Finally, confirm with OK and click the green Play button to export the queue to JPEG2000 MXF or sequence of J2Ks. 10

12 Product license activation Comprimato UltraPix is distributed as 30-day trial and it needs to be activated once it expires. The product comes with licensing application for online and offline activation. Once the product expires you need to use licensing application to fully activate it. For buying the license key(s) you can visit /products/ultrapix and click Buy button which will take you through the payment process. At the end you will have the license key(s) registered to your address you entered during the payment. When you finish the purchase, there are two options how to activate the UltraPix product on your machine. Online activation when your machine has access to the internet Activation requires a license key for Comprimato UltraPix. With internet access you can follow simple buy and activate process which starts in the Comprimato UltraPix License Manager. The licensing app is installed with UltraPix and can be found in following locations: Windows 10 Windows Start menu Comprimato UltraPix License manager Mac OS Application folder Comprimato UltraPix Licensing manager Once you open the license manager application you can click on Buy now. This will take you to the payment gateway where you can purchase license key(s) for activation. Once you received UltraPix license key, copy it and paste it to the Activate your UltraPix input field and hit Activate button. Once activated you will see updated expiration date of your license in the license manager application. 11

13 Offline activation when your machine does not have access to the internet If you are on a computer without access to the internet you need to run license manager application first. Then you need to copy activation URL link and Activation ID to a computer with internet access (see screenshot below as an example). The link will take you through the buy-in process of UltraPix and in the end you will receive unique activation key via . You will enter your new license key to the licensing app of UltraPix which will finalize the product activation. 12
