5 INTRODUCTION TO EASY EDIT MPP EASY EDIT MPP is the Microsoft Project Add-in that can be used to edit the MS Project Gantt Chart view / information in Microsoft Excel and then update the originating Microsoft Project Plan with the click of a button! Microsoft Project is THE software tool to use to manage Projects. Project provides better built-in capabilities and scale then Excel. However, updating information can prove tricky in Microsoft Project and generally users are more comfortable to do this within Excel. Now you can use both! The EASY EDIT MPP Add-in can be customised for any Microsoft Project view. Save time and frustration by using the familiar Excel interface to update your Microsoft Project Plans! EASY EDIT MPP INSTALLATION Installation is of the EASY EDIT MPP Add-in is simple. The EASY EDIT MPP InstallShield Wizard will guide you through the process. Double click of the setup Installation Page 1

6 Follow the installation EASY EDIT MPP InstallShield Wizard Once the InstallShild Wizard is Completed click Finish *As part of the Installation you may need to install the Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime Setup. If so you will be prompted. Open Microsoft Project to verify the installation. The EASY EDIT MPP Tab will appear in the Ribbon Menu as below. Page 2

7 EASY EDIT MPP UNINSTALLATION Uninstallation of the EASY EDIT MPP Add-in is simple. The EASY EDIT MPP InstallShield Wizard will guide you through the process. Double click of the setup Installation Follow the installation EASY EDIT MPP InstallShield Wizard to Remove the program. Open Microsoft Project to verify the uninstallation. The EASY EDIT MPP Tab will be removed and not appear in the Ribbon Menu. Page 3

8 HOW TO USE EASY EDIT MPP Once installed, the EASY EDIT MPP Tab will appear in the Ribbon Menu as below. To Edit Gantt Chart information in Microsoft Excel you simply click the EASY EDIT MPP Tab and then the relevant EASY EDIT MPP button labelled Edit Gantt View or Edit Custom View. EDIT MS PROJECT GANTT VIEW WITH EASY EDIT MPP To Edit Gantt Chart View information in Excel go to the EASY EDIT MPP Tab and click on the Edit Gantt View button. Microsoft Excel will open with the Gantt Chart View Information from the Microsoft Plan. You can be in any Microsoft Project view and this will still work. Page 4

9 Make the Edits as required and then just close Microsoft Excel. You will be prompted to confirm if you would like to copy back the Edits into your Plan. The Duration column will not update if edited from Excel- you must change the Start and Finish Dates to update the Duration of a Task. If you do not see the Prompt click the MS Project icon in the Taskbar. If you confirm by clicking Yes then Excel will close and the data will be copied back to your Project Plan. If you click No Excel will close and no data will be copied back. You can then continue to manage your Project Plan as usual. EDIT CUSTOM MS PROJECT VIEWS WITH EASY EDIT MPP To Edit Custom MS Project View information in Excel go to the EASY EDIT MPP Tab and click on the Edit Custom View button.
