All the open-source, royalty-free development tools needed for PN IO Device development are included on the CD DK-16xx PN IO for DK-ERTEC 200/400 PN IO; firmware for configuring the test partner CP 1616 for operation under Linux, Windows XP or Windows 7, or for porting to other PC-based operating systems. 3 Operating system environment The ERTEC Development Kits are currently shipped with the open-source, royalty-free ecos operating system. The provision of the operating system interface of the PN IO stack for the supplied operating system enables customized adaptation and porting to other operating system platforms. 4 Updates Functional further developments of the development kits will be made available to registered customers by means of free updates. This enables continuous and innovative further development of the terminal devices by means of simple and direct integration of the PROFINET functionalities without high cost. Free registration is a requirement for receiving the function updates. This can be done via the Support Center ComDeC by sending the software product certificate and the delivery note. PROFIsafe starter kit The PROFIsafe starter kit V3.4 is compatible with version 2.4 of the PROFIsafe profile, as specified in IEC It meets a series of user requirements such as multi-instance capability and variable process data length at runtime. Along with all of the PI specifications required for development, the PROFIsafe starter kit contains the source files for the PROFIsafe driver software (PSD) and a comprehensive implementation manual in English and German. In addition, it includes various CRC calculation tools and tools for creating GSD files with security-related parameters. Examples of adaptation of the PSD (PROFIsafe Driver) to current PROFIBUS and PROFINET stack interfaces provide assistance for adaptations that may be necessary. Page 1699 Mar 2008 Siemens ITS

5 Special "slow motion monitors" allow the PROFIsafe protocol processes to be monitored in slow motion. A new feature is support for the ipar server and the TCI interface. Example applications are provided on the CD-ROM for both PROFIBUS and PROFINET. The hardware components supplied in the development kits offer the user access to the PROFIsafe world, step-by-step.
