3 Introduction Welcome to Campaign Manager 1.3! This new update, which runs on Sitecore CMS 6.5 and harnesses the analytics features of DMS 2.0, brings on significant performance improvements, new business value oriented reports and new useful features. The key features of this update are: The module harnesses Sitecore Engagement Analytics. The Message Engagement Plan controls the message life cycle. The Executive Insight Dashboard provides you with new marketing reports. The performance is improved significantly. The module is fully integrated with the Sitecore Application Centre. The module supports the majority of popular browsers. The ECM Performance Tuning Guide aids as the fine tuning guide of the ECM implementation in your environment. Many other improvements. 4 New Features This section contains the new features implemented in this version of the module. Harnessing Sitecore Engagement Analytics Attracting visitors to your web site is a way of engaging with your customers Organizations are engaged in a constant conversation with their customers. The Campaign Manager harnesses the Sitecore Engagement Analytics to organize and structure some of the ongoing conversations by implementing message engagement plans that control how your website interacts with your subscribers. Message engagement plans help you to manage your on-going conversation with your prospects/audience/customers through campaigns. The Executive Insight Dashboard application provides you with marketing reports of an campaign s effectiveness. With this reporting tool you can get an overview of your marketing activities and see at a glance which of your campaign strategies are the most effective. The Campaign Manager contains engagement automation actions that the module can perform on visitors who meet certain conditions. The following sections describe how the Campaign Manager harnesses the Sitecore Engagement Analytics features in more detail. Page 4 of 11
5 Message Engagement Plan The ECM uses the message engagement plan to manage the sending process and track the behavior of the recipients of the message. The following image shows the message engagement plan: For more information about the message engagement plan, see the ECM Marketer s Guide, section 5.1, The Message Engagement Plan. Changes in the Reports ECM 1.3 replaces the ECM Stimulsoft reports with various alternatives as follows: The Delivery Statistics and Visit Analysis reports are replaced with the Engagement Plan Monitor. The Link Analysis and the Conversion Summary reports are replaced by a number of reports in the Executive Insight Dashboard. 6 The Engagement Plan Monitor Application The Engagement Plan Monitor Application lets you monitor the state of the dispatch process and track the behavior of the recipients of the message. For more information about the message engagement plan monitor, see the ECM Marketer s Guide, section 2.4, Monitoring the Dispatch Process and Visitor Behavior. Page 6 of 11
7 The Executive Insight Dashboard Reports The Executive Insight Dashboard application provides you with marketing reports of an campaign s effectiveness. The ECM marketing reports include the following reports: Visits This report shows the volume of traffic and the value points that were accumulated as the result of the current campaign. Entry Pages This report shows the Value, Visits and Relevance of visits to your website for specific entry pages. Entry pages for an campaign are links in the . Goal Conversions This report shows the value that was generated by goal conversions in the current campaign. Assets Consumed This report shows which assets were downloaded in the current campaign and which led to the most valuable visits. For more information about the Executive Insight Dashboard reports, see the ECM Marketer s Guide, section 5.2, The Executive Insight Dashboard Reports. ECM Engagement Automation Actions The Campaign Manager contains engagement automation actions that Sitecore can perform on visitors who meet specific conditions: Edit Audience The Edit Audience action allows you subscribe a visitor to (or unsubscribe a visitor from) one or more Target Audiences. Send Campaign Message Page 7 of 11
8 The Send Campaign Message action sends a standard campaign message to a website visitor. You can configure which conditions trigger both actions and how the actions behave. For more information about the ECM engagement automation actions, see the ECM Marketer s Guide, section 3.1.4, How to Use ECM Actions. New Goals A new goal was added that can be used in engagement plans, or in other engagement analytics activities. The goals are: Click Link. New Message Subject A/B Test Dialog The new message subject test dialog provides value per visit statistics which lets you easily evaluate and select a test winner that brings the most value: Page 8 of 11
9 Improvements This section contains the improvements to the functionality that existed in the previous version. Significant Performance Improvements and a New Performance Tuning Guide Sitecore has a track record, through existing customers, of obtaining daily performanc e values of 3,500,000 individually rendered and personalized s per server on 8 core servers. The ECM Performance Tuning Guide will aid as the coarse-to-fine tuning guide of the ECM implementation to help realize high-volume peak performance in your environment. To download the ECM Performance Tuning Guide, navigate to the ECM Documentation page. Full Integration with the Sitecore Application Centre Delivery Service ECM 1.3 is integrated with Sitecore Application Centre 2.0 (SAC 2.0). This service is embedded in Sitecore CMS 6.5. SAC 2.0 provides customers with the following benefits: You don t have to configure the processing of the DSN messages. SAC 2.0 handles bounced messages automatically and passes the delivery status information to the module. Page 9 of 11
10 You can select or change the price plan. You get a quick overview of your delivery status, price plan and some other statistics. Browser Freedom With ECM 1.3 you can use the module and edit messages using the following browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 8 Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and later Google Chrome 5 and later Apple Safari 5 Note The module supports all current stable versions of these browsers unless stated otherwise. 11 External Links in s are Tracked In an message, you can put links to external pages outside your website. When a user clicks such an external link, the module tracks this event and moves this user to the Clicked Through Message state in the engagement plan. Settings Were Moved from the Settings Items to the Configuration File A number of settings were moved from the settings items to the configuration file. This lets you set server specific settings on the dedicated servers. For more information about the settings that were moved, see the ECM Administrator s and Developer s Guide. Server VerificationTool is Embedded in the Module The ESVT Tool is embedded in the module. You can now test your connection to you delivery server directly from the Campaign Manager application. To access the Test Connection dialog: On the Tools tab, in the SMTP Server group, click Test Connection. The Performance Test Limitation was Removed When doing a performance test, you can now send a test message to a group of 1000 recipients to get better statistics. You can do that even if you only have a few real subscribers, which is essential on the development stage. In the previous version you could send the test message to as much as 25 subscribers, and those had to be real subscribers. MTA Emulation Mode The ECM module provides a means of testing campaign throughput by emulating a MTA. MTA emulation allows you to mimic the round trip time required to send an from the Sitecore CMS to a MTA. For more information about the MTA Emulation mode, see the ECM Performance Tuning Guide. Japanese localization The Japanese translation of the module is now available for version 1.3. Page 11 of 11
