1 Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer Trended Investment Help Pages After logging in, you will see the different categories on the left side. About the Industrial Report About the Industrial Report gives good information on what to report, when to file and the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer s contact information. Summary, Schedules & Journal To file your report, click on Summary, Schedules & Journal. If you want to view prior year reports, click on the arrow next to the Year at the top of the page, choose the year and click Retrieve. Prior year reports can t be edited and are only available starting with 2011 and newer reports. 1

2 The Year should automatically default to the current year. Unless you want to view prior years, you do not need to make a selection here. Click on your Account and then Retrieve. Summary You should now be on the Summary tab. The Summary tab shows cost and final values for each schedule, as well as the Total of all Schedules. In most cases the Final Value of All Investments is the same as the Total of all Schedules, unless changes have been made to the Overall Depreciation Percentages. Associated Parcels Real and Personal Property parcel numbers are listed under Associated Parcels on the right side of the Summary page. Please review them and contact the Assessor/Treasurer s office if a correction is needed. If you click on Actions, you will find links to the Pierce County Auditor s Recorded Documents, the Personal Property e-file Filing System and the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer s Electronic Property Information Profile system. The e-pip link will take you to the Assessor-Treasurer site for the particular parcel shown in the row that you are clicking on. 2

3 Schedules To go to a certain Schedule, you can either click on the tabs toward the top of the page Or in the Detail Summary and Final Overview, you can click on the arrow in the row of the Schedule you would like to go to. You should be in the Schedule that you selected and are now ready to update your report. Navigating in the Schedules Columns To make the columns wider, place your curser on the line between two headings, wait until it turns into 2 arrows and pull to the right or left. Columns can be sorted by clicking on a heading. Click once to sort descending to ascending. Click again to reverse the sort. You can tell how the column is sorted by the little blue arrow next to the heading. 3

4 You can change the order of the columns. Click on the column heading, hold down the mouse button and drag the column to where you want it. To Save the sorting order, column width and column order, click on the sprockets over to the right on them again to save. above the last column on the right then click If you want to Hide any of the columns, click on the sprockets and uncheck the box/boxes that you want hidden, then click the sprockets again to save. Filters You can filter each column by clicking on the 3 dark lines on the heading. Pick from the dropdown and fill in the word you want to search for. 4

5 If you want to do a Quick Filter, click on the Quick Filter above the column headers and type in the word you want to find. Quick Filter works across all of the columns and filters as you type. Remove the word to go back to the complete original listing. After you have made changes to your assets, you may want to compare them to the Original row. Check the box next to View User Levels (found above your assets) and it will show you what the Original row looks like and how the Taxpayer row looks after you made the changes. Updating Your Trended Investment Report Note: When making any kind of changes to your assets, you need to click the Save button on the bottom right side of the page after making the change. 5

6 Adding New Assets To add a new asset, click on the Add button located on the left above your assets. A box will pop up asking you to enter the year purchased. Enter the correct year and click Ok. The new row will turn green. You will need to fill in the Inventory #, Description, Comments (if needed) and Investment $. 6

7 Click in the Inventory # box and enter the number, then Tab to the other boxes adding the information as you go. If you hit enter, you will have to click into the next box you want to edit as it only moves to the next editable area by using the Tab key. The Economic Life, Trend Category, Sub Category and Depreciation Rate will be filled in by the Assessor/Treasurer s office. Deleting Assets To delete an asset you no longer have, you can use the dropdown under the Status column and choose Dispose/Deleted. To delete several assets at once, check the boxes on the left of each row to be deleted and then go up to Checked Actions and click Disposed/Delete. Check the box that says Change status to Disposed/Deleted and click OK. 7

8 Asset Change of Status In many cases there is more than one Status that could be used to identify the circumstance of your asset. Choose the one that best explains the situation. If you need to explain with more detail than the dialog boxes offer, you can always add a remark in the Comment section of the asset row. You can change the status of an asset by clicking the box under the Status column. There are several choices you can use depending on the situation. Active: Assets which are currently used in the operation of the plant. Asset Upgrade: Assets that have been enhanced, rebuilt or added to. Disposed/Deleted: Assets which have been scrapped, discarded or destroyed and are no longer at your plant. Idle Asset: On occasion, assets are temporarily considered as idle. After review, the Pierce County Industrial Appraiser will decide whether or not to move the asset to Schedule 9 Physical Functional Economic Obsolescence. In this schedule, a base percentage of the value may be applied dependent on the circumstances. Other: When using this status, please post a comment for the changes you make to the Year, Inventory #, Description and/or Investment $. 8

9 Partial Disposal: This status is used to describe instances where part of a piece of machinery or production line has been removed. Move to Schedule: This status is used to move an asset to another schedule if it is on the wrong one. Transfer Out: Use this for assets that have been moved to another location. The revised amount will result in a zero value most of the time, but in some cases, only part of a production line or piece of machinery is moved and there will be a remaining balance. Change of Status Screenshots If you choose Asset Upgrade or Partial Disposal it will ask you to enter the Revised Investment $ Amount. Enter the amount and click OK. If you choose Idle Asset or Other, it will ask you to provide a comment then click OK. 9

10 If you choose Move to Schedule, it will ask you which Schedule you want to move it to. Select the Schedule and then click OK. The asset shows that it moved to Schedule 2 and has a final value of $0. If you go to Schedule 2, you will see that the asset was transferred to Schedule 2 from Schedule 4 and the Investment $ amount is showing. 10

11 When an asset moves to another location, choose Transfer Out. It will ask for the Revised Investment $ Amount and the Location of Transferred Asset. After entering the information, click OK. It will now show that the asset was Transferred Out and relocated to China with a Final Value of $0. Schedule 10 Taxpayer Income and Expense Statement Please enter your Income and Expense information here and click Save. Please note that this worksheet does not do any calculations. You can the information to the contact located at the end of this Help report if you would rather. 11

12 Schedule 11 Rated and Actual Plant Capacities To add information about your Product Listing, click Add and fill in the boxes and then click Save. Journal If you would like to add a note to the Journal, click on the Journal tab and then click the Add box. 12

13 Type in your note and click Save. You can edit or delete a note as long as you entered it as the Primary. You can t edit or delete notes entered by the Assessor-Treasurer staff. Go to Actions, click the pencil icon to edit the existing note and then click Save. 13

14 Click the garbage can icon to delete the whole note and then click Yes. Company and Contact Information If there are any changes to your Company Information, please the changes to the Assessor Treasurer contact located at the end of this report. 14

15 If you are the Primary Contact, you can edit the contact information by clicking on the pencil icon under Actions. You can edit everything except for the address which can only be done by an Assessor/Treasurer employee. You can find the Assessor/Treasurer contact information at the end of this report. After you edit the fields that need to be changed, click Save. You will see who modified the information and the date it was changed under the words Contact Edit. 15

16 Reports You can print or save your Cover Sheet and/or Asset Listing. This report can t be edited. Click on Reports on the left side of the screen. Choose which Report you want to view or print from the dropdown menu. And then click View. It may take a minute before the Report comes up so just be patient. 16

17 Links There are some helpful links that may assist you under the Links tab on the left side of the screen. Asset Management Export Assets If you would like to view your report in Excel version, click on the Asset Management tab at the top of the screen and click Export Assets and it will create a report for you. 17

18 Importing New or Updates to Assets If you have a lot of new assets or a lot of changes you want to make to existing assets, you can import them all at once. Click on the Asset Management tab and click Import New Assets or Import Updates to Assets. Follow the Instructions for Importing page that pops up. Note: Most accounts do not have a Ti Sub #. Please fill in with a 0 (zero). 18

19 Submitting Your Report When you are totally done updating your report, click the Submit button at the top of the page. Please read the information that comes up before you click the Yes button.
