1 West Georgia Technical College Banner Attendance Module Welcome to the new Banner Attendance Module! We will be using this module to record attendance beginning spring semester, We believe this process will be much easier and take less time to process. As we develop this process, we look forward to the possibility that we will no longer have to synchronize our BBLearn Rosters to Banner. More to come....

2 Web Browser: To access the Banner Attendance Module you must use Firefox as your web browser otherwise various options in the attendance module will not be available. Internet Explorer will allow you to update your attendance, however it will not show information about the class or student on the right-hand side. Once on Firefox, go to the WGTC webpage ( It would be helpful to bookmark or pin this to your toolbar for future use.

3 Accessing Banner-Option 1 You have two options. Option 1: From the WGTC home page, cursor over Student Information, and select Self Service Banner Web from the drop-down menu.

4 Accessing Banner-Option 2 Option 2: From the WGTC home page, select WGTC Quicklinks, and select Self Service Banner Web from the dropdown menu.

5 Accessing Banner-Self Service Banner Web Both options will bring you to this page. Select Self Service Banner Login to proceed.

6 Accessing Banner-User Login To login, your User ID is your 9 digit number. If you do not know your 9 digit number, contact your Director of Instruction. Enter your Banner password in the PIN area. If you do not know your PIN or have forgotten, enter your User ID and select Forgot PIN? This will allow you to reset your password.

7 For Trouble Accessing Banner If you have trouble accessing Self Service Banner Web you can submit a help desk ticket at: helpdesk.westgatech.edu To submit a ticket, select Create a New Request.

8 Accessing Banner-Faculty Services Once you are logged into Self Service Banner Web, select Faculty Services. There are two links for this see the arrows to the left.

9 Accessing Banner-Faculty Services Select Faculty Attendance Tracking. This will take you to the Banner Attendance Module.

10 Banner Attendance To login to the Banner Attendance Module, use your same User ID (9 digit number) and PIN from the Self Service Banner Web login.

11 Banner Attendance Once you are logged in, you will see your courses. If your course is available and has started, you will see Take Roll. *If you do not see your courses, please contact your Director of Instruction.

12 Banner Attendance If your course has not yet started, you will see View Students. Take Roll will become available the first day of class.

13 Banner Attendance If you click the CRN of your course, it will show you the available information including Term, CRN, Course Number, Campus, and the number of students enrolled.

14 Banner Attendance Select Take Roll to input your attendance in your selected course.

15 Banner Attendance All of your students can be displayed on one page. To show all of your students on one page, select 50.

16 Banner Attendance The current date of class should be visible. The only days that should appear in your course are the days the class meets. If you have a Monday and Wednesday class, you will only have Mondays and Wednesdays available. To take attendance, select the date of your class. If you see the column is blue, the attendance for that date is editable. *The Blue that shows is a light shade of Blue.

17 Banner Attendance *Once the date has been selected, and before moving forward, ensure that the correct date is in blue. Dates may shift to the left. Once the date is selected, and the column is blue, select Update All and select Mark All Present.

18 Banner Attendance All students will be marked present. You will also see a green box stating attendance was successfully updated.

19 Banner Attendance To mark a student absent click the green check mark, and a red circle with a white line will appear. The student has now been marked absent. *The percentage of attendance presented in the yellow box is not correct. You will need to keep up with the absences for each student to determine if he/she needs to be dropped.

20 Attendance Reminder Students will still need to be dropped if they exceed the amount of absences allowed. If a student exceeds the absences allowed, you will need to the student. The full Attendance policy is available here: u/catalog/attendance_pol icy.pdf

21 Exceeding Absences In this example, Student has reached 4 absences, one more than is allowed. The student will need to be dropped, and you will need to notify the student that he/she is being dropped. the student and the registrar office from address.

22 Notify Student Click on the student s name. the student at the address provided.

23 Notify Student When composing the , CC your Director of Instruction. For the subject, enter Your Class Attendance and include the CRN number. For the message, inform the student that he/she is withdrawn from your course, and ask that he/she s you back.

24 Notify Registrar The to the registrar s office needs to include student s name, id number, CRN, course number, and last day of attendance. CC your Director of Instruction.

25 Extended Absences For students who will have extended absences, you ll need to mark that in Banner. Select the student, and select Extended Absence.

26 Extended Absences An Extended Absence box will appear. Enter the Start Date the student will begin to miss class, and enter the expected return date in the End Date. Enter any available information about the absence in the Note box. Click Save.

27 Extended Absences A green box will appear, informing you of successfully creating the extended absence. The student s attendance will have the red circle with white line through it, plus a sticky note will be attached. This will appear for every date the student is expected to miss.

28 Withdrawn Students Students who have withdrawn will appear with a red circle and line over their photo. Withdrawn will appear in red under the student s name. A student that is withdrawn will have blank spaces in the attendance area. Once a student is withdrawn, the option to mark the student present or absent is gone.

29 Canceling Class If you need to cancel your class for a particular day, select the date you will be canceling the class. Select Class and then select Cancel this Class Meeting. *Once a class is canceled, it CANNOT BE UNDONE in the Banner Attendance Module.

30 Canceling Class Since the course that is canceled CANNOT BE UNDONE, Banner will ask if you are sure you would like to cancel the course. To fully cancel the meeting on that particular day, select Yes.

31 Canceling Class Once the class meeting is canceled, every student will have the red circle with white line through it, plus a sticky note attached. The Note will say the class was canceled.

32 Printing a class roster for Student Signatures Students will still be required to sign a roster indicating attendance in the class. Banner rosters printed directly from Banner Web have personal information that should not be shared, therefore a report has been written in Banner Web Reports.

33 To access this report go to the WGTC webpage and click on Faculty and Staff..

34 Click on Banner Web Reports

35 A login in box will appear. Login is: faculty Password is: attendance Click OK

36 Click on Attendance Roster

37 Select the term from the drop down menu. Enter the CRN for your course. Click Run Report

38 The following report will appear. Right click and select print. This report will need to be printed for each class session and students must sign to indicate attendance for that class session. Please submit the signed attendance report to Administration each week.
