5 Online Card Request Website The Online Card Request Website is a Success! Currently over 582 trainers are registered and using the new website. Simple to use now, one site to submit advanced notification, submit a course report, and pay for the cards. Cards normally processed and mailed within 4 business days. 5

10 Advanced Notification Process Most Trainers will see only two options: Course Report, and Advanced Notification If you are also an assistant for another trainer you will see an additional 2 options: Course Report for Another Trainer, and Advanced Notification for Another Trainer
11 Advanced Notification Process The Advanced Notification is the same as page 1 of the Course Report. When you submit your course report from your advanced notice, you will not have to re-type the information but will 11 be able to make changes as needed

14 Student Card Replacement NEW Online Student Card Replacement Process Includes: Replacement card Misspelled names on card Printer error replacement request Names left off original request** ** If the student s name was left off original request, trainer must submit all sign-in sheets for class via to: trainingcardrequests@gtri.gatech.edu and follow the replacement card request process. NOTE: The new student card replacement process applies only for cards requested online. If the replacement card request was submitted via , postal mail or fax, you must follow the old student card request process. 14

25 Key Changes to Outreach Training Requirements Summary of Key Changes February 2013 For OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainers OSHA periodically updates the requirements that all OSHA-authorized Outreach trainers must follow when conducting and reporting OSHA Outreach Training Program classes. This update follows the April 2011 version of the Outreach Training Program Requirements. Key changes from the April 2011 version are noted below. Exception policies. In most cases, exception requests must be received at least 60 days in advance of the scheduled training. If an Outreach trainer is granted an exception, the Outreach trainer will not be permitted to apply for another exception until the course given the original exception is completed. Student verification. Outreach trainers should employ every reasonable effort to ensure the identity of each individual attending their training. 25
26 Key Changes to Outreach Training Requirements Summary of Key Changes Continued February 2013 Makeup training clarification Defines student eligibility to complete makeup training to receive course completion card Specifies additional documentation required to report makeup training Limits completion of makeup training to six months after the original training Advertising restrictions Outreach trainers cannot provide cards to students which are depictions or representations of an OSHA card or that may be misconstrued as an OSHA card Outreach trainers cannot state that the Outreach training is OSHA compliant or that it meets the requirements stipulated in any OSHA standard or policy 26
27 Key Changes to Outreach Training Requirements Summary of Key Changes Continued February 2013 Online Training: OSHA will only accept for review or authorization Online Outreach Training Program proposals in response to a competitive solicitation. Webinars and Video Conferencing Delivery of Outreach Training Program classes is not allowed unless the trainer receives prior exception approval from OSHA. When requesting an exception, the Outreach trainer must: o provide justification as to why in-person training poses a hardship for the students. o document previous experience delivering occupational safety and health training via videoconferencing and/or webinar. 27
28 Key Changes to Outreach Training Requirements Summary of Key Changes Continued February 2013 Negative (Unmarked) Space on Card. Negative space is that portion of the printed card that is unmarked and includes space between graphics, margins or lines of text. Pre-printed language on the card cannot be masked, obliterated, covered, or otherwise obscured. An Outreach trainer may not insert expiration language on the card. Organizations may establish expiration dates to satisfy their safety and health goals, but this information must be communicated to students in a separate manner. Outreach trainers may use negative space on the back of the student course completion cards for identification or training information. This may be helpful and appropriate if the Outreach class is targeted to a specific industry or audience. A sticker or photo can be applied in the negative space on the back of the card. 28

35 Card Request Policy DATE: March 8, 2012 TO: Georgia Tech Authorized Outreach Trainers FROM: Myrtle Turner, Director Georgia Tech OSHA Training Institute RE: Outreach Trainer Card Request Policy 1. Purpose To ensure accuracy and accountability for 10 and 30-hour Authorized Outreach Trainer card requests. 2. Scope This policy is for Georgia Tech s Construction and General Industry Authorized Outreach Trainers who request cards for 10 and/or 30-hour outreach training. 3. Background Ethical practicies of some Outreach Trainers have come into question. Given that some Outreach trainers practices have been somewhat questionable, more is being required of ALL Outreach Trainers. Georgia Tech is taking a proactive approach and is reminding its Outreach Trainers to request cards in accordance witht the card request procedures identfied in the current Outreach Training Program guidelines. 35
36 Card Request Policy 4. Policy The policy of the Georgia Tech OSHA Training Institute Education Center is to require its Authorized Outreach Trainers to submit requests for 10 and 30 hour cards in accordance with the curent OUTREACH TRAINING PROGRAM GUIDELINES ( stry.html). The Georgia Tech OTIEC Fact Sheet is attached to this policy. (attached). 5. Procedure Provide card requests in accordance with the curent OUTREACH TRAINING PROGRAM GUIDELINES described in Item 6 above. All card requests must include a start date and end date on the program report form in the date section. 6. Effective Date This policy will be effective for Outreach Trainers upon notification. 36
