3 3 Technical Requirements The NICHE Learning Management System functions best when using Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers. Not all functionality works in other browsers, so to ensure that all courses can be completed and recorded, please only use these two browsers. If you experience any technical difficulties, first try using a different browser to see if that remedies the problem. Please make sure to have all pop-up blockers disabled, as allof the courses launch in pop-up windows for maximum ease of use. To see the specific system requirements please click here. Logging into the NICHE Learning Management System There are two ways to access the NICHE LMS: through the NICHE website and through the direct link to the site ( The NICHE Website If you are logging in through the NICHE website ( click on Knowledge Center in the Upper Right Hand corner. 3

4 4 After you enter the Knowledge Center, click on the My Account tab. In the Username field, enter your entire address that your NICHE Coordinator provided NICHE. This will usually be your work address. If you are logging in for the first time enter welcome in the Password field and click the Login button. 4

5 5 You will be asked to change this password upon initial login. If it is not your first time logging in, please use the password you set for yourself and click the Login button. If you forget your password, please click the Forgot Your Password to reset your password. If you forget your username or get an error message that says you do not have an account, please contact your NICHE Coordinator. Do not click Signup For a Free Guest Account as that will not give you total member access to the NICHE Resources. 5

6 6 LMS Direct Site To log in directly through the LMS site, go to In the Member Address field, enter your entire address that your NICHE Coordinator provided NICHE. This will usually be your work address. If you are logging in for the first time, enter welcome in the Password field and click the Login button. 6

7 7 You will be asked to change this password upon initial login. If it is not your first time logging in, please use the password you set for yourself and click the Login button. If you forget your password, please click the Forgot Your Password to reset your password. If you forget your username or get an error message that says you do not have an account, please contact your NICHE Coordinator. Do not click Self Add as that will not give you total member access to the NICHE Resources. We encourage you to contact your NICHE Coordinator with any questions. 7

8 8 Overview of NICHE LMS Once logged into the LMS, you will be on the Home Page, where you can access all of NICHE s resources. From the Home page, you will be able to view the available NICHE Core Content, the resources you are enrolled in, the resources you have completed, and additional parts of the NICHE Community (including discussion boards and live webinars). 8

9 9 Accessing Resources In order to take part in any of the NICHE Resources in the LMS, you will need to enroll to gain access. These resources include: NICHE Core Courses, Recorded Webinars, Educational Briefs, Organizational Strategies, Planning and Implementation Guide, Joint Commission Crosswalk, and Clinical Improvement Models. These resources will be automatically assigned to all users in top right widget of the homepage, titled My Resources. Under the top left widget, NICHE Core Content, users will have the ability to search and enroll in resources not assigned. 9

10 10 The best way to find resources you d like to access is through the Advanced Search functionality, which can separate resources by category and name. To get to the Advanced Search, click on the Gear Icon next to the search box in any widget Then click on the Binoculars Icon that says Advanced Search. You will then be able to filter the courses to find the ones most relevant to you. In the LMS, Curriculum means Category. Click the Drop Down list next to Curriculum, to filter the resources by category: Core Courses, Clinical Improvement Models, Recorded Webinars, Planning and Implementation Guide, and Organization Strategies. Pick which type of resources you d like to browse, and then click Update in order to only see that particular type of resource. 10

11 11 You can also search for resources by topic using the Locate section. By selecting Begins With (will only produce resources that start with the topic you enter), Contains (will produce any resources that have the topic), or Equals (will only produce exact topic matches) in the Second Drop Down list, you can choose how to filter the using a search word. Users should preferably search by Contains to ensure they see all applicable courses. After selecting how you d like to search by topic, you can enter the topic of your choosing to search across all resources in the LMS. After you enter the word, click the Update button to see the possible resources. Please note, that for both searching and filtering by type, if you are already enrolled in a course, it will only appear in the My Resources widget, but if you are not enrolled, it will only appear in the NICHE Core Content widget. 11

12 12 Enrolling in Resources If there are some resources that you are not enrolled in and you would like to enroll, click the Green Plus Sign next to the course s title. After you click the Green Plus Sign, a window will pop-up with a description of the resource, the number of contact hours (when applicable), and technical requirements for the resource. If you d like to add the course, click the Enroll button. If you do not want to add the course, click the Close button. If you click the Enroll button, a window will pop-up confirming that you d like to enroll. Click Enroll to confirm and add the course. 12

13 13 You will then be brought to a page asking whether you d like to Launch Course or Return to MyNetLearning. If you would like to complete the course you just enrolled in now, click Launch Course. If you do not want to complete the course now, click Return to My NetLearning which will bring you back to the homepage. If you click Launch Course, the course will open in another window. Some browsers block pop-up windows, so if the window does not open, this is probably the case and you should make sure to disable this functionality. For some of the longer resources you are required to select which module you would like to begin and then click Launch Lesson to start the resource. These resources will also show your progress for each module and scores if you have attempted any posttests. You will need to complete the modules in chronological order, as a later module will not open unless you have successfully completed the posttest for the previous one. Once the module launches, follow the instructions in the course to complete. After you successfully complete the course requirements, it will appear in the My Completions and you can click on the Plus Sign Icon to print your Contact Hour Certificate if you need it at a later time. 13

14 14 Reporting on Resources Transcripts In order to view your transcripts, please click the Reports tab in the top left corner of the widgets. Once in the Reports tab, you can generate your transcript report of all completed courses by clicking the Transcript link. 14

15 15 A pop-window will appear with options for your Transcript report. It will report on all completed courses, including the grade and number of contact hours received. Click Run Report to download a PDF of your completed courses. You can also choose to filter by specific date by editing the date range and fields. Enrollments and Completions You can see what courses you are enrolled in and you completed by clicking the Enrollments and Completions link on the Reports tab. 15

16 16 You will access another pop-up window where you will have to select which curriculum (categories) you d like to report on. Please select NICHE Core Content and NICHE Recorded Webinars (by pressing ctrl and clicking each option). Make sure that you have selected List, Details, and Grade for the Report Output. Click Run Report to see a PDF with resources listed. 16

17 17 NICHE Coordinator Instructions These instructions only pertain to NICHE Coordinators. All other users will not be able to access the MyTeam tab and should contact their NICHE Coordinator if they have any questions. Managing Users In order to manage your users, click the MyTeam tab on the upper left corner of the widgets. Once on the tab, you can see a list of all of your users in the top left widget +Learners. Searching Users To search for specific users, open the Advanced Search using the gear and binocular icons. 17

18 18 In the Locate section, you can choose to search by a number of fields, including name and . User Reports You can view all of your users transcripts and enrollments, both individually and as a group. To access a user s individual reports, go to the +Learners widget and click on the file folder with the green plus sign, titled Activities. You will see a pop-up screen of all of the user s enrolled resources and transcripts. 18

19 19 To view a group of users enrollments or transcripts, you can use the respective report types in the Reports widget on the right hand side of the Reports tab. For transcripts, click the Transcript link in the widget. 19

20 20 On the pop-up screen, you can search which users you d like to add or you can run a report on your entire hospital. You can also choose specific dates to run the report. To select individuals click the check-box next to their name. To select all users, click the check-box next to the Learner header. After you select which users you want, click the Add to List button. 20

21 21 Then click the Run Report tab to get PDF download of the transcript report. For enrollment and completion reports, click the Enrollments and Completions link in the +Reports widget. In the pop-up window, please select which resources you d like to use. We recommend NICHE Core Courses and NICHE Recorded Webinars (by pressing ctrl and clicking each option). 21
