1 Online and Text Giving Setup Instructions Introduction These instructions will guide you through the process of creating your own online fundraising web page and Just Text Giving by Vodafone code. While these facilities are currently free from any administration charges (the Diocese is covering these costs), any web page donations will incur a small handling charge that is levied directly by Just Giving. Please also be aware that online and Text Giving does not replace the regular weekly envelope, or monthly bank standing orders. It is intended to enable visitors and those who are unfamiliar with church services to give in a way that is familiar to them. Create a JustGiving web page 1. Go to the JustGiving homepage: { HYPERLINK " } 2. Find the Fundraise for a charity link. This is located at the bottom of the JustGiving home page under the section For Fundraisers. 3. Enter your address, use a generic church address here rather than a specific person, and choose No I m new if you have not created a fundraising page before. 4. Click on Make your page. 5. You will next be required to enter your own name and address details. This is the name of the person who will own all your fundraising pages. Please be aware that while the name and address details provided can be changed at a later date, the address used in step (3) cannot. It is up to you if you wish to receive s from Just Giving, if you do not wish to receive s then untick the box before you click on Create Account The Birmingham Diocesan Board of Finance is a company limited by guarantee. 2 You must next select the charity you wish to support. Within the search box enter the number (this is our diocese s charity registration number), Click Search ; the first result shown should be Birmingham DBF. 6. Next, click on Birmingham DBF. This may take a while to load 7. The next screen asks how you will be raising your funds. 8. Look to the bottom right of the screen and select Personal challenge.

3 9. You will need to enter a name for your fundraising activity and a dedicated Internet web page address. Firstly enter an activity name. Next, select No to the question Is your charity contributing to the cost of your fundraising?. You are free to choose whether you want to receive JustGiving s news and tips, or not. Lastly enter a web page address. Use the name of your church, without any spaces (e.g. stcainambridge) and click Create your page.

4 10.Your fundraising web page has now been created with a series of default values. 11.You can use the edit facilities to change the name of the page and to add some pictures that will personalise it. 12.At this point you should also use the editing functions to enter a brief, but positive and encouraging, story or description of what your church does; its community involvement or activities. Why should anyone donate to your church? Create a Just Text Giving code 13.While on the Your pages tab, look for the JustTextGiving by Vodafone link on the right hand side of the screen and click on it. 14.At the bottom left of the screen you will be presented with a randomly generated Text code for you to use. You may change this code by clicking on the Personalise your code box.

5 15.Now that you have your text code, it is up to you to publicise it! In the church magazine, on a poster at the main door, on a PowerPoint slide at the end of a service that had lots of visitors, wherever is appropriate. You can also take advantage of the free promotional packs offered by Vodaphone, just click on the button (marked by the arrow) You can visit your own JustGiving web page at any time to see what donations have been received. The information shown is live and should be updated within a few minutes of a donation being made. All Text donations will appear as Anonymous unless the donor completes a Gift Aid declaration if a declaration is completed, a donor may still choose to remain Anonymous. Ensuring that you receive your donations from the Diocese 16. In order for the Diocese to be able to credit your PCC/DCC with its donations, the following details must be sent by to Amanda Homer (Financial Controller) at 1 Colmore Row: amandah@birmingham.anglican.org Name of PCC/DCC (and Parish number if known) Account Name for the PCC/DCC s bank account Bank Sort Code Account Number address for correspondent, in case of any money transfer difficulties.

6 Important Notes Please be advised that any donation received via the Diocese can only be passed on to bank accounts that are held in the name of the PCC/DCC. As Text donations are only generally collected monthly by the donor s mobile telephone provider, they can take up to 45 days to reach the Diocese. Any Gift Aid would normally be received a few weeks after that. Any donations received through your fundraising pages and Text codes will normally be transferred to your bank account on a monthly basis.
