Their recorded contents can be freely edited on this unit or the computer. Recording Editing on the unit or the computer Playing on your DVD-RM compatible DVD recorder/player Dubbing to the DVD recorder s hard disk DVD-RW DVD-RW are discs that can be formatted in two ways. For recording repeatedly and editing: VR format For playback on other products: Video format (VR\format) Recording Editing Select the format type (Video\format) Recording Finalize* Playing on your DVD player Even if you record until the DVD-RW disc becomes full, formatting it on the unit makes recording possible again. When formatting the disc you can change the format type (VR format or Video format). 2

They are useful when you want to copy and give movies edited on a computer to your friends. Playback of DVD-R DL is only possible on devices that support DVD-R DL. Recording Finalize* Playing on your DVD player Import the images to computer Burn to DVD-R Give your friends the created DVD-Video discs * Finalized process makes playback of a disc possible on compatible products. fter finalizing, the disc becomes play-only and you can no longer record. Finalized DVD-RW (Video format)/dvd-r discs can be played back as DVD-Video on DVD players. Frequently asked questions about discs Can discs with a cartridge be used? Can double sided discs be used? Can I record continuously from one side of the disc to the other on a double sided disc? Can DVD-R be recorded to once only? They can be used if the cartridge is removed. They can be used. However you cannot record or play continuously from one side of the disc to the other. You will need to eject the disc and turn it over. You cannot record continuously from one side of the disc to the other. The recording time indicated on the disc package is the total time for both sides. You will need to eject the disc and turn it over to record on both sides. Recording can be started and stopped until the disc is full. However the data recorded on the DVD-R cannot be erased. 3

To playback a DVD-RM, DVD-RW (VR format) or DVD- R DL, you will need a DVD recorder or a DVD player that supports DVD-RM, DVD-RW (VR format) or DVD-R DL. Refer to the operating instructions of the DVD recorder or DVD player. Before using DVD-RW (VR format) on other devices, be sure to finalize it on this unit. DVD-RW (VR format) after finalization can be recorded and edited in the same way as DVD-RW (VR format) before finalization. With a computer (For Windows) (VDR-D310/VDR-D230) You can enjoy editing scenes with the software on the supplied CD-ROM and creating original DVD-Video discs. Contents on provided CD-ROM The following software applications are contained on the provided CD-ROM. DVD-RM Driver This is necessary to configure the unit as a drive on a computer. DVD-MovielbumSE This software is for playing back and editing* VR format motion pictures. By using DVD-MovielbumSE with this unit, it is possible to perform playback and editing* of the DVD-RM or DVD-RW (VR format). It is also possible to transfer exported data to DVDfunSTUDIO. B C Thumbnails (Disc contents are shown.) B Playback area C Editing buttons* * Editing can only be performed on a DVD-RM. DVDfunSTUDIO This software is for creating a DVD-Video disc. Use this software when burning a DVD-Video disc from motion pictures edited using DVD-MovielbumSE. B B DVD menus created (rrange the motion pictures exported from DVD-MovielbumSE in the DVD menu and edit the menu design.) (If you do not have authorization to do this, consult your manager.) 1 Insert the CD-ROM into the computer. The introduction movie starts. Click [To continue the installation] at the end of the introduction movie and then the [Setup Menu] screen will appear. If the introduction movie screen does not appear, double-click the CD-ROM drive icon in [My Computer]. 2 Click the software to be installed. Install DVD-RM Driver and then install DVD-MovielbumSE or DVDfunSTUDIO. 3 Follow the on-screen messages to install it. When installing DVD-MovielbumSE or DVDfunSTUDIO: Select [NTSC (North merica)] for the TV system. Creating a DVD-Video disc on a computer Using DVD-MovielbumSE and DVDfunSTUDIO, you can create a DVD-Video disc (DVD-RW/DVD-R disc) from the motion pictures recorded on this unit. DVD-MovielbumSE DVDfunSTUDIO DVD-Video Export Burn Edit the scenes. Edit the DVD menu. Before using DVD-RW (VR format) on a computer, be sure to finalize it on this unit. When using DVD-MovielbumSE or DVDfunSTUDIO, log on to your computer as dministrator with a login name equally authorized. If you log on with a login name other than dministrator, you cannot use the applications. When using DVD-MovielbumSE or DVDfunSTUDIO, close any other software applications. Connect this unit to the C adaptor. 1 Insert a DVD-RM or DVD-RW (VR format) with recorded images in the unit, then turn on the unit. 5

The unit and computer will not operate properly if the plugs are not inserted fully. Do not use any other USB cables except the supplied one. (Operation is not guaranteed with any other USB cables.) The USB function selection screen will appear. 3 Select [PC CONNECT(DISC)] and press the joystick. 4 (On the computer) Select [start] # [ll Programs (Programs)] # [Panasonic] # [DVD camcorders] # [DVD camcorders], then click [DVD-Movielbum]. If the screen showing a brief explanation of the application is displayed, close it. DVD-MovielbumSE starts and the images recorded on the disc are displayed. When starting DVD-MovielbumSE, the [Mount Information] dialog box may appear or the recorded images may not be shown. If this occurs, try the following procedure. If there are multiple drives, a drive other than this unit may be selected. 1) Click [Preference] on the dialog box or ([Preference]) button at top right of DVD-MovielbumSE screen, and then click the [Device setting] tab. 2) Choose the drive where the disc is loaded in the [Drive Select] column, and then click [OK]. 5 (When using a DVD-RM only) Edit the images on the disc as required. 6 Click [Export]. 6

It is recommended that you do not change the settings displayed on the screen. 8 When export is complete, a message will appear. Check the small box for [Eject the disc being used.], and then click [Yes]. DVD-MovielbumSE automatically closes and DVDfunSTUDIO automatically starts. 9 Insert a brand-new DVD-RW or DVD-R disc into the unit. 10 When the [CollectTool] screen appears, click [OK]. The exported scene will be automatically registered on the DVDfunSTUDIO editing screen. 11 Edit the DVD menu as required. Set the disc size to [8cm DVD] or [8cm DVD DL]. Select the desired destination drive to write to if necessary. 12 Click [Burning]. Writing to the disc starts. When writing is complete, the disc is ejected automatically. 7

DVD-RM: Use the supplied software DVD-MovielbumSE. DVD-RW (VR format), DVD-RW (Video format), DVD-R: Editing is not possible on a computer. DVD-RM, DVD-RW (VR format): Use VR disc copy tool or the File Export function in DVD-MovielbumSE. DVD-RW (Video format), DVD-R: Copying data to a computer is not possible. Contents on provided CD-ROM The following software application is contained on the provided CD-ROM. ImageMixer 3 This software is for playing back motion pictures recorded on a disc, importing motion pictures to a computer, creating a DVD-Video disc etc. Use this software when burning a DVD-Video disc from motion pictures recorded on this unit. To create a DVD-Video disc, a separate DVD-RW/DVD-R/+RW/+R drive is required. B C [Import] button [DVD List] button (Create a list of images on the library for the new DVD.) [Write] button (The contents start being written to disc.) B C Installing software 1 Insert the CD-ROM into the computer. [PNSONIC] CD-ROM icon appears. 2 Double-click [PNSONIC] # [ImageMixer3forDVDPalmcorder.pkg]. The installer setup screen appears. 9

Creating a DVD-Video disc on a computer Using ImageMixer 3, you can create a DVD-Video disc from the images recorded on this unit. ImageMixer 3 DVD-Video Write Import the motion pictures. Create the list. Before using DVD-RW (VR format), DVD-RW (Video format) or DVD-R on a computer, finalize them on this unit. To create a DVD-Video disc, a separate DVD-RW/DVD-R/+RW/+R drive is required. Connect this unit to the C adaptor. 1 Insert a disc with recorded images in the unit, then turn on the unit. 2 Connect this unit and a computer. ImageMixer 3 starts. 5 Click [DVD-RM LMXK1987] in [Source]. The contents recorded on the disc are displayed. 6 Click the desired recording date (), select the scene (B) and then click the [Import] button (C). B C 7 Click [Library] in [Source] to display the contents of the library. Edit the motion pictures if necessary. Using [Combination List], multiple scenes can be combined into one title. 8 Select the scenes to be added to the DVD-Video and then click [DVD List]. 9 Select the DVD menu, the disc size and the picture quality and then click [OK]. new list is created in [DVD List] in [Source]. You can add images to the disc to be created by dragging and dropping files from the library to the created list. 10 Prepare a DVD-RW/DVD-R/rRW/rR drive that can be written to and then insert a brand-new disc into the drive. 11

Check that the size of the data is not more than the capacity of the disc to be written to. 12 Proceed with the write setting and then click [Create]. Writing to the disc starts. Depending on the amount of data, writing to the disc may take time. Frequently asked questions about use with a Macintosh Is playback possible on a computer? Is editing possible on a computer?
