10 Media Server Web Interface Avaya Installation Wizard The Installation at Wizard is intended to assist st you in the installation and upgrade processes for S8x00 Media Servers and H.248 Gateways (ie G250, G350, and G700). It is designed to get the system up and running in a basic installation as quickly as possible. Is intended for systems that have a Media Server (ICC or LSP or ESS) with the gateways (local or remote locations). Uses wizards as well as pre-compiled Excel spreadsheets for data importation ti

23 Installation Applying Patches and Updates Upload patches and Updates to the FTP folder of the S8500 using the Maintenance Web Page This copies the files to the /var/home/ftp/pub folder

24 Installation Applying Patches and Updates Update SAMP module first!!! Update the SAMP module TWICE!!! Once completed, issue the sampcmd samp-update p status command at the CLI prompt to verify that it was successful. (Look at the Version ID and the Committed Boot-type).

Definition: sudo: Sudo (superuser do) allows a system administrator to give certain users (or groups of users) the ability to run some (or all) commands as root while logging all commands and arguments. Sudo operates on a per-command basis. It is not a replacement for the shell. Features include: the ability to restrict what commands a user may run on aper-host basis, copious logging of each command (providing a clear audit trail of who did what), a configurable timeout of the sudo command, and the ability to use the same configuration file (sudoers) on many different machines.... 26 Installation Applying Patches and Updates Now, let s apply our ACM Patch Use the sudo update_unpack command to unpack our file. Use the update show Use the update_show command to verify patch availability.

27 Installation Applying Patches and Updates Use the sudo update_activate update_id id command to activate our file. The Update ID that we use is the same as the file name as we uploaded, but without the last.tar.gz characters You can de-activate the Patch with the sudo update_deactivate command

29 Installation Updating Patches Real Life Scenario Avaya has just released a new ACM patch. You need to update as it fixes a bug So, on your lab system Copy the new patch to the Server (the new file is located in the Updates directory of your USB Drive) Unpack the new patch De-activate the current patch Activate the new patch Verify ypatch activation
