SESSION 1: 18/01/2018 Packet structures in networking workshop was held at Koti Concepts - Service Provider of ethical hacking training, VPN course & ethical hacking course in Bengaluru, Karnataka. We were trained by one if the best trainer Mr. Koti Reddy. He is a reputed trainer who has trained thousands of professionals in networking and security. He is the founder and senior faculty at Chennai famous Sans Bound Solutions Pvt. Ltd. His consulting, training and

educational services are in the areas of network design, implementations, troubleshooting and security. Training clients include top MNCs, banks, government departments and academic institutions. His lab-based workshops on enterprise-wide network security conducted across India have had record audiences crossing a couple of hundreds in each location. He is credited with setting the standards for teaching networking courses using real life Topologies. He is an Engineering Graduate and awarded with many other certifications in networking and security. He is also a pioneer in training a large number of trainers in the areas of networking and security. He conducts regular classes and workshops at both Chennai and Bangalore. It is a two days workshop ( and ) 8 teachers Dr Addapalli Krishna, Dr Julian Benadit P,Mr.Boppuru Rudra Prathap, Ms.Gokulapriya R,.Mr.Kukatlapalli Pradeep Kumar, Ms.Vandana Reddy, Mr.Praveen Kulkarni, Ms.Swetha BN Department of computer Science,Faculty Engineering and 6 students Iksu Yeo, Amrita, Gino sinthia, Savina Colaco, Madhuri JN, Varija Sai Mtech Department of computer Science,Faculty Engineering Following table shows details about session Day Date Time Events am- 10 am : Assembling in koti concepts 10 am : Session Started am am: : Tea Break am 1.15pm : Demonstration 1.15pm to 2 pm: : Lunch Break 2pm to 3.45pm : Demonstration 3.45pm 4 pm : Tea Break 4 pm pm : Demonstration 5.30 pm : Session Ends am -10 am : Assembling in koti concepts 10 am : Session Started am am : Tea Break am 1.15pm : Demonstration 1.15 pm to 2 pm : Lunch Break 2pm to 3.45pm : Demonstration 3.45pm 4 pm : Tea Break 4 pm -6pm : demonstration 6 pm : Session Ends. The topics covered during this workshop are

6) Addressing Scheme of TCP/IP IPV4 7) Addressing Scheme of TCP/IP IPV6 8) IPV4 Multicast 9) IPV6 Multicast 10) Understanding Routing Logic First day the workshop started at 10 am the class started by discussing the agenda for both the days. Then the theory started by explaining about The OSI model layer, the first layer is physical layer this layer conveys the bit stream through the network at the electrical, optical or radio level. It provides the hardware means of sending and receiving data on a carrier network., Second layer is data link layer this layer sets up links across the physical network, putting packets into network frames. This layer has two sub-layers, the Logical Link Control Layer and the Media Access Control Layer. Ethernet is the main data link layer in use. Third layer is Network layer this layer handles the addressing and routing of the data (sending it in the right direction to the right destination on outgoing transmissions and receiving incoming

transmissions at the packet level). IP is the network layer for the Internet. Fourth layer is transport layer this layer manages packetization of data, then the delivery of the packets, including checking for errors in the data once it arrives. On the Internet, TCP and UDP provide these services for most applications as well. Then we discussed about IP address, An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. IP Address = Network ID+ Host ID.Then we discussed about its importance, routing logic and so on. Various protocols such as ARP (Address Resolution Protocol), ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol), FTP (File Transfer Protocol), HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) was discussed in detail and demonstrated. Then the demonstration was given on How to work on virtual box, installing windows and cloning the windows. A small example of LAN with four routers and five systems was created in GNS3 and systems were created virtual box. And the session at 5 pm Session 2: 19/01/2018 Second day the workshop started at 10 am.we started the practical class with the knowledge from the first session. We installed the windows server 2003 in the virtual Box and cloned the windows with different Mac address. We stared by giving IP address manually to each system. Then changed the name such a way it s easy to identify the system. The routers in the GNS are configured with the IP address and the all the connected system then the small LAN was designed in GNS3 with four routers and the five systems. Cisco Routers were used, Steps to design the LAN in GNS3 Open GNS3, New project, Drag and drop router, to start the router right click on the router and click on start, drag and drop cloud so that one or more systems can be kept in the cloud. Fast Ethernet port is used to connect Cloud and the Router, and serial port is used to connect between the router and the router. Once the connection are made the system and the Cloud and the Routers had to be configured. To configure the cloud right click on the cloud and add the virtual box host only network. To create the virtual box host only network open virtual box, go to file and host network manager and add network. If we want to keep more than one system in the cloud. Go the system we created right click,

setting, network, Host Only adapter then chose the virtual host only network. and to configure the router right click the router open console write configure terminal, interface which the router is connected to (fast Ethernet or serial ports) then the ip address and the subnet mask, no shutdown. By this the GNS3 and the system in the virtual box is connected. The connection is checked by pinging the other system(icmp). We used network monitor to capture the packets. Once all the connection is set then we made one system as WEB server, one ad FTP server and one DNS server. In the afternoon session which started at 2 we had 1 hour of lab and then we started with the theory session about the analyzing the packets and the fields in packets. And we also had a hands-on for the same. We had the small photo session, took some group photos. And the class ended at 6 pm It was the great experience. We all got a better hand-on experience. And the explanation was very simple and instruction was given is very simple we all could follow and work on it effectively. We look for forward for similar workshop in future.
