1 Runtime Software Version Release Notes

2 This document provides the release notes for the Silicon Software runtime software version for Windows and Linux. In the following sections, new features, changes, and compatibility information is provided. 1 New Features PoCL Disabled per Default on marathon and LightBridge Camera Link Boards The automatic PoCL detection feature is disabled on marathon ACL/VCL and LightBridge VCL when running one of the new applets (applet sets 2.0 or higher). To use PoCL: With this change, PoCL support now needs to be enabled actively by the user via microdiagnostics (menu Tools -> Board Settings). This new option in microdiagnostics is available since runtime version (or higher). New Frame Grabber Boards LightBridge 2 VCL With LightBridge 2 VCL, Silicon Software offers a new stand-alone Camera Link frame grabber that links the frame grabber to the host PC via Thunderbolt 2 1 and supports the Camera Link 2 standard on 2 camera ports. A set of standard acquisition applets for LightBridge 2 VCL (version 2.0) is available. The applets included offer the same features as the applets in the applet set available for LightBridge VCL Pre-Production. You can design custom applets for LightBridge 2 VCL in VisualApplets (version 2.2 or higher, recommended version: 3.0.6), using platform settings and platform library LightBridge VCL. 1Thunderbolt 2 certification in progress. 3 microdiagnostics New Dialog Board Settings microdiagnostics provides a new dialog (Tools -> Board Settings) that allows to enable/disable the automatic PoCL detection feature for a marathon or LightBridge Camera Link frame grabber board. Applet Sets Camera Link marathon and LightBridge Applets (A Series and V Series) The following new applet set versions are available: me5 marathon ACL: Version 2.0 me5 marathon VCL: Version 2.0 LightBridge VCL Pre-Production: 2.0 LightBridge 2 VCL: 2.0 New features: The automatic PoCL detection feature is per default disabled on the frame grabber boards running one of the new applets. When PoCL cameras are used, PoCL support needs to be actively enabled by the user via microdiagnostics (menu Tools -> Board Settings). Three new bi-linear bayer line applets are included in the applet set: Acq_DualBaseLineBayer_RG_GB Acq_SingleFullLineBayer_RB_GG Acq_SingleFullLineBayer_RG_GB The tap sorting options have been extended for some Camera Link line applets. The following new tap sorting modes have been added to the following applets: Acq_SingleFullLineGray and Acq_SingleFullLineRGB: Tap sorting mode 4X2E is supported now, too. (6848) Line Applets: When defining the line trigger, via parameter FG_IMGTRIGGERINSRC an external trigger or a software trigger can be selected now. (In earlier applet versions, the option to select a software trigger was missing. Fixed.) (6483) Line Applets: The Exsync output is correct now. (6608) Line Applets: The parameters FG_LINPERIODE, FG_LINETRIGGERDELAY, FG_LINEEXPOSURE, and FG_LINETRIGGERMODE now work as expected. (In earlier versions, these parameters showed wrong dependencies, as settings of some of these parameters influenced the value ranges of the others in an unexpected way. Fixed.) (6567) Applet Acq_SingleFullAreaGray now also supports output bit depth 10 bit packed. Applet Acq_SingleCXP6X4AreaBayer now also supports a processing bit depth of 14 bit per color component. 5 Line Applets: When defining the line trigger, via parameter FG_IMGTRIGGERINSRC an external trigger or a software trigger can be selected now. (In earlier applet versions, the option to select a software trigger was missing. Fixed.) (6483) Line Applets: The parameters FG_LINPERIODE, FG_LINETRIGGERDELAY, FG_LINEEXPOSURE, and FG_LINETRIGGERMODE now work as expected. (In earlier versions, these parameters showed wrong dependencies, as settings of some of these parameters influenced the value ranges of the others in an unexpected way. Fixed.) Line Applets: The Exsync output is correct now. (6608) ROI Fix: Now the ROI settings work correctly with all CXP camera models. (In earlier versions, some settings for the ROI frame height lead with some specific CXP cameras to incorrect image acquisition. Fixed.) (In earlier versions, some settings for the ROI frame height led with some specific CXP cameras to incorrect image acquisition. Fixed.) (6461) Applet Acq_DualCXP6x2LineGray12 (me5 ironman AQ8-CXP6D): The applet delivers correct images with all image dimension settings also when the camera simulator is used in trigger mode free run. 7 Image Source = Camera Simulator Camera Simulator Trigger Mode = Free Run, some image dimension settings (specific combinations of image with and image height settings) led to damaged images. Fixed. (6236) Runtime Installer During runtime installation, path variable GENICAM_GENTL32_PATH / GENICAM_GENTL64_ PATH is correctly concatenated to environment variable %sisodir5%/bin. 1 (In earlier versions, path variable variable GENICAM_GENTL{64,32}_PATH was overwritten during runtime installation so that all GenICam GenTL path information was lost. Fixed.) (6968) Miscellaneous CXP Control Channel The amount of control data that can be transferred between a CXP camera and a Silicon Software frame grabber board (via control channel) has been extended. In earlier runtime versions, depending on the used camera model, error -69 /-70 occured when the packet size was too big. This has been fixed for all Silicon Software CXP frame grabbers (me5 marathon ACX-QP, me5 marathon VCX, me5 ironman AQ8-CXP6D, me5 ironman VQ8-CXP6D). (6923) 1Path variable GENICAM_GENTL{64,32}_PATH holds a list of directories that contain GenTL producers. Each producer registers here via concatenating its own path. 8 2 Changes and Bug Fixes Fg_getLastPicNumberBlockingEx(): me5 marathon, ironman, and LightBridge When using SDK function Fg_getLastPicNumberBlockingEx() on me5 marathon, ironman, or LightBridge frame grabbers, long-time tests ended in timeouts. This has been fixed. (6578) Improved stability after receiving invalid pixel signals (Camera Link) SDK Improved stability after invalid pixel signals from camera on Camera Link frame grabbers me4 AD4, me4 VD4, me5 marathon ACL, me5 marathon VCL, me5 ironman AD8, me5 ironman VD8, and LightBridge VCL: The filter system has been improved so that now after start of acquisition the first line/- frame sent by the camera is processed also in cases when invalid pixels have been sent by the camera before start of acquisition. (In earlier firmware versions, when the frame grabber received invalid pixels from the camera before the acquisition was started, the first valid line/frame sent by the camera after start of acquisition was discarded (due to a filter system implemented to discard invalid signals). Fixed.) Library display_lib.lib: When CreateDisplay and CloseDisplay had been called multiple times to open, close, and re-open windows, the function CreateDisplay did not return after a previous call to CloseDisplay. The program hanged. Fixed. (6873) Runtime Tools, web link in "About Dialog" The link to the Silicon Software home page in the About dialog of the runtime tools microdiagnostics, microdisplay, and GenICam Explorer has been updated. Now, the link points to the current website of Silicon Software. (6906) Applet Sets for microenable 5 AQ8-CXP6B and microenable 5 VQ8-CXP6B discontinued As both ironman frame grabber boards (providing 4 BNC connectors for CXP connection) have been discontinued since 2015, applet sets 2.5 will be the last officially released applet set versions for these frame grabber modells. 9 bers are microenable 5 ironman AQ8-CXP6D and microenable5 ironmanvq8-cxp6d (providing 4 DIN connectors for CXP connection). microdiagnostics Board re-sorting: After you change the board IDs for the frame grabbers installed in your host PC (in microdiagnostics via menu option Tools -> Re-Sort Boards), the Silicon Software generic service (gs) is restarted automatically, and the boards are re-scanned. (In earlier versions, after assigning new board IDs you had to restart the generic service manually. Otherwise, error messages occurred after board re-sorting. Fixed.) (5663) Flashing an me4 frame grabber: If you want to flash a firmware version available on your system that is newer than the firmware version that is flashed on your frame grabber board, in a first step you select the new firmware version for flashing. Both buttons that allow to select the newer firmware are functional now: Button "Replace Firmware" and button "Replace All". 12 microenable 5: When you are using microenable 5 frame grabbers, firmware and applet are both incorporated in the *.dll or *.hap file you flash onto your frame grabber. Make sure the runtime version you are using on the host PC supports the applet version you are using on the frame grabber 1. Otherwise, install the latest runtime software (that always supports the latest firmware versions and is downward compatible to older firmware versions). All listed microenable 5 device driver versions are backward compatible to Runtime Matching Runtime, Firmware and Device Driver Versions Incompatibilities between a newer firmware version and an older Runtime Software version cannot be excluded. New features may require the newest firmware and device driver version. To use the newest firmware/applet set version, make sure you install the matching runtime version. We explicitly recommend to use a specific Runtime Software version only together with the corresponding (frame-grabber specific) firmware version/applet set version and device driver version. 15 me4 Shipment Our me4 frame grabber products are generally shipped with the firmware version released together with the latest Runtime Software version (major release or service release). Nevertheless, during roll-out of a new Runtime Software version it may happen that due to production-technical reasons frame grabbers with the former firmware version are delivered. Exceptions are communicated via the Silicon Software Product Info channel. Special shipment agreements are not affected.
