HP SmartStream Designer 22 for Illustrator Installation System requirements Adobe Illustrator CC2018 (64-bit) Mac: Intel based Mac OS 10.13 or Mac OS 10.12 or Mac OS 10.

4 HP SmartStream Designer 22 for Illustrator Installation System requirements Adobe Illustrator CC2018 (64-bit) Mac: Intel based Mac OS or Mac OS or Mac OS Windows: Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 10 At least 8 GB of RAM Installation Follow these steps to install the HP SmartStream Designer 22 for Illustrator CC Close the Adobe Illustrator application. 2. Double-click the installer icon. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation. 4. (Mac only, for OS 10.11) Confirm the following settings: a. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. b. In the Allow apps downloaded from pop-up list, select Anywhere. 5. After the installation is complete, the Smart Stream Designer Workspace is added to Adobe Illustrator. Note: To update to Illustrator CC2018 while keeping Illustrator CC2017 (side by side installation), select Advanced Options and clear the Remove old versions check box. During installation HP SmartStream Designer Dynamic Personalization applications requires Java version 8 or version 9 application installed. During the installation, the installer performs a check to verify if the required Java version exists on the computer. If not, it suggests to install it and directs the user to the right URL. In the page that opens, select for PC Windows Offline and for Mac the DMG file format. See both marked in the below screen shot. Note that 64bit is required. CA Page 4 of 11

(Note that the steps and screen shots below refer to Java 8, the SmartStream Designer version supports also Java 9) Windows 1. Go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.

6 Post-installation A. Install Java o HP SmartStream Designer Dynamic Personalization applications require Java 8, or Java 9. If you did not use the Java check and install step during the installation, you can perform it as a post installation step. o Follow the following steps to install Java 8 (64.bit). (Note that the steps and screen shots below refer to Java 8, the SmartStream Designer version supports also Java 9) Windows 1. Go to 2. Select JRE Download, and then follow the prompts to download and install the software. Mac 1. Open a Terminal window, type java-version and then press Enter. Figure 2: Mac Java Tool prompt 2. Click More Info to open the Oracle site. 3. Select a Java Download. 4. Accept the License Agreement, and then choose the Mac OSX x64 package to download. 5. After the file is downloaded, double-click the installer package to install Java 8. Figure 3: JDK Installer Package 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation. 7. After the Java installation is complete, confirm that the correct version of Java is now installed. a. Open a Terminal window, type java-version and then press Enter. CA Page 6 of 11

b. Verify the correct Java version. Figure 4: Java version 8. If an older version of Java is still installed after installing Java 8 (1.8), perform the following steps.

Note: Even though Java 8 (1.8) is installed, the computer might still recognize Java 6. c. If Java 6 is still installed, remove the Java 6 SDK provided by Apple, from /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines d.

7 b. Verify the correct Java version. Figure 4: Java version 8. If an older version of Java is still installed after installing Java 8 (1.8), perform the following steps. You will need to be logged in as an Adminstrator. a. Open a Terminal window, type java-version and then press Enter. b. Review the results to check if the computer is still recognizing Java 6, which is provided by Apple. Note: Even though Java 8 (1.8) is installed, the computer might still recognize Java 6. c. If Java 6 is still installed, remove the Java 6 SDK provided by Apple, from /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines d. Install Java 8 (1.8) 64-bit. e. Restart the computer. B. Set the Workspace In the Illustrator Workspace: select SmartStream Designer C. Insert License code - Insert the SmartStream Designer for Illustrator Registration License Code. 1. Open the main HP SmartStream Designer menu, click the About button, and then click Register. Figure 5: Register 2. Enter the registration code in the Register window and then click OK. D. Connect to HP SmartStream Composer L&P (Lite) (recommended) Open the SmartStream Designer menu and select Preferences. In the Preferences window, in the Composer Name / IP Address pane, click New.

In the Preferences window, in the Composer Name / IP Address pane, click New. HPD Files In the Name field, type the SmartStream Composer name or IP Address, and click OK. This definition enables the use of the Pack and Submit feature, where the destination of the created HPD is Composer. HPD files created using Designer 22 for Illustrator CC2018 can be processed on SmartStream Composer L&P (Lite) 4.0 HPD files created using Designer 21 for Illustrator CC2017 can be processed on SmartStream Composer L&P (Lite) 3.0 and 4.0 Uninstall Windows 7 1. Click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click Programs, and then select Programs and Features. 3. Select HP SmartStream Designer for Illustrator, and then click Uninstall. 4. Click Uninstall in the confirmation dialog box to proceed. Windows Click Start, click Settings, and then click System. 2. Select Apps & Features from the left pane. 3. Select HP SmartStream Designer 22 for Illustrator, and then click Uninstall. Mac 1. Double-click the HP SmartStream Designer for Illustrator installer file for the version you want to uninstall. 2. In the Installation Type window, select Uninstall from the dropdown menu, and then click OK. CA Page 8 of 11

9 Known Issues Installation CR13513 Java The installer alerts to upgrade Java even if 8 is detected (The installer checks if there is Java8 or Java9. And should alert to upgrade/install only if earlier or none is detected) If you know Java 8 is installed, then ignore the alert of upgrading Java General CR5694 Assets Folder Windows Library folders, e.g. Documents folder, Pictures folder, are not working as Assets folder. CR5679 General Note that he selected PDF Preset affects the output files from HP SmartStream Designer. CR11957 Illustrator Marks CR12831 Panels size Adding Crop Marks in Illustrator's PDF Preset is shifting the elements in Composer output. Designer's panels cannot be resize Do not select Windows Library folders as the job s Assets folder. Make sure the correct PDF Preset is selected in Adobe Illustrator before creating the job in HP SmartStream Designer.
