5 3. Dependences Minimum requirements to install ConsolePlus software No. Prerequisite 1. Computer with Windows Operating Systems, One of the following OS installed Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 2. The standard USB 5-pin to Mini-B cable is available (for imini series data loggers) 3. Microsoft Excel application is installed Important Notes: To install ConsolePlus, the user must have administrative rights on the computer where installation is being performed. If not, installation may return with error. Please contact your network administrator for the installation. Adobe reader (latest Version) must be installed on the computer. 6 4. Accessories For all imini data loggers Type A to Mini-B USB cable is required to connect data logger to the workstation. ConsolePlus will auto detect the logger (no need to select COM port) IMINI to PC connection To connect the USB interface gently pull the USB cover from the rear side of imini and plug in the Mini-B side of the cable to the female connector. Connect other side of the cable to Computer s available USB port. Device driver is automatically installed during installation of ConsolePlus, so no separate driver installation is required. iminiusb pdf data logger is Plug and Play data logger, with USB onboard, no interface required. 7 5. Installation Setup disk can be purchased from CVT / local distributor or setup file can be downloaded from our website or for free. File name: ConsolePlusSetup.exe / ConsolePlusSetup.zip 5.1. The installation must be performed by the user with administrative rights on the computer Double click the zip file and browse to EXE file of setup. Now double click on setup file Once double clicked ConsolePlusSetup.exe file, it may ask for security approval to proceed with the installation. Press OK to proceed through installation wizard: Important Note: Version number can be different than displayed here as the ConsolePlus software is being updated regularly for various features and fixes. 8 5.4. Select the desired destination directory for installation or leave it as default directory and click Next 5.5. 9 5.8. Setup will continue installation 5.9. A window will pop up with a message to install necessary COM drivers installation, click Install to install the necessary drivers After the device drivers installation, setup will successfully complete installation and display message to close the wizard. Click Finish Desktop icon will be created and placed on desktop (if selected in step 4.6) 6. Introduction ConsolePlus shortcut icon is created and placed on desktop after the installation is completed. Launch ConsolePlus a. When ConsolePlus application is launched for the first time, by default options window pop up (general tab) where user input is required for setting up default directory and other settings b. On the top Left Corner next to ConsolePlus *.** denotes current version of software c. Default path is highlighted in red, where user can set the default path d. 12 6.1.2 Auto download logger If enabled, data will be downloaded automatically from the connected data logger (supported product). When a logger is connected as soon as ConsolePlus application is launched the data of the logger will be automatically downloaded and displayed in all available tabs of ConsolePlus. If the logger has no recorded data, it will show blank graph, histogram & table. Summary and program settings of previous trip can be viewed. If multiple loggers connected, ConsolePlus will auto download all the connected loggers. To view the data of more than one connected logger, use have to select the particular logger from left hand side pane. If a logger is connected and data is not saved before the ConsolePlus application is closed, a warning message is displayed for user to confirm if the downloaded data is need to be saved before the application quits. Now user can confirm or ignore the message as needed. Warning Message, when data is not saved! Auto Save logger This option is very supportive to user and being it fully automated it saves time and user does not need to remember if the data is saved. If enabled, data will be downloaded data of connected logger will be saved in *.cvt format to default directory. CVT format is very unique, encrypted Cryopak s data file type. The data of this file can only be viewed with ConsolePlus application only. Auto saved data *.cvt file is saved in default directory automatically without any user input. The process is very quick and is not required any waiting time. No confirmation will be displayed upon file save as the process happens in background. Auto saved files are saved in very nifty way, filename appears as: (Logger s serial number)_(trip number).cvt Example: MX-CD _0004.cvt If a logger is downloaded multiple times, next file is saved as (Logger s serial number)_(trip number)_(file number).cvt Example: MX-CD _0004_001.cvt Auto generate TXT file This option will save the data of the connected logger in *.txt format, which can be viewed in any text reader application (notepad/ WordPad). The filename will be same as in with the extension *.txt. (Logger s serial number)_(trip number).txt Example: MX-CD _0004.txt or MX-CD _0004.txt Or MX-CD _0004 or MX-CD _0004 On some computers extension can be hidden. Rev. 3.2 Page 12

13 6.1.5 Auto generate CSV file This option will save the data of the connected logger in *.csv format, which can be viewed in Office application (Microsoft Excel). The filename will be same as in with the extension *.csv. (Logger s serial number)_(trip number).csv Example: MX-CD _0004.csv or MX-CD _0004_001.csv Or MX-CD _0004 or MX-CD _ Auto generate PDF file This option will save the data of the connected logger in *.pdf format, which can be viewed in any PDF viewer application (Adobe Reader). The filename will be same as in with the extension *.pdf. (Logger s serial number)_(trip number).pdf Example: MX-CD _0004.pdf or MX-CD _0004_001.pdf Or MX-CD _0004 or MX-CD _ Auto open PDF If this option is enabled, the auto generated pdf of connected & downloaded logger will be automatically displayed in default pdf application. Auto open pdf may be greyed out if the latest version of adobe reader is not installed or if not set as default pdf reader. If third party pdf reader is installed and used by default, in that case auto open pdf may be greyed out as well, however pdf generation from the menu icons can be performed. Important Note: This option can be disabled on some computers due to some registry issues Unit Display ConsolePlus supports C / F temperature units. Units can be set on general tab and they are globally effecting the units in auto save features. User can change these units at any time as required. Downloaded data and saved *.cvt files are not affected, data will display with the set units accordingly MKT Act. Energy Mean kinetic temperature (MKT) is a simplified way of expressing the overall effect of temperature fluctuations during storage or transit of perishable goods. User can set is the Activation Energy according to their SOPs or as required. Default value of Activation Energy is kj mol - 1 ConsolePlus allow users to customize activation energy. User can view Mean Kinetic Temperature; on summary tab or generated pdf (on page 2 under alarms section) Time-Zone When ConsolePlus is installed, it is advised to set the time zone to local time-zone as the ConsolePlus do not collect this information automatically. Time-zone must be set prior to use of the application. Current local time is displayed in the window above time-zone Time- Zone Daylight savings option must be selected for the effective regions. Ensure to verify the time is matching with computer s time before using ConsolePlus. Rev. 3.2 Page 13

14 Default Path Ensure to select the destination folder carefully here, by clicking by creating a new folder at desired location. Default Path All the files with which are manually saved or auto saved will be stored in the designated directory. and browsing to desired location or Multi-link / Analysis Refer to page User Admin add-on To enable User Admin Package add on for ConsolePlus application, which is 21 CFR part 11 compliant. Please contact your local distributor on Cryopak to purchase serial number to enable this feature. For more information refer to User Admin Package user manual Version number Software versioning is the process of assigning unique version names. It is advised to use the latest version available View Tab In View Tab, Graph and Histogram color settings can be changed and set as required. 16 7. Main Window Once the desired settings have been made, click OK on the options window to view the application. Home page is displayed and most of the tabs and functions are greyed out (when no logger is connected). User can change settings any time as required by selecting options. Main Menu Main menu has three key options, File: General options, including open/close files, load/save template, print functions and updates Logger: Program, download & program lock functions Help: Information about software releases Most of the functions in the tree are disabled initially and will be highlighted or available depending on if the data logger is connected or if a file is open. Logger Main menu: Logger Logger Menu has basic functions to download data of connected logger, lock function to lock the program settings to program multiple loggers with same settings and program function Logger/file list This window display the following information, If it is a logger or a file is opened. COM port number of connected logger (if available). Filename / path of an opened file. Serial number of logger. Quick alarm status. Alarm status is displayed with the colored icons as described in the table. If the connected logger is in ready state or no data is available then a green icon (OK) will be displayed. 18 8. Icons & functions The information of the action icons is displayed below. These icons will be enabled only if the logger is connected and assigned action is conceivable. Action icons 9. Tabs Tabs Home: Cryopak homepage is displayed on this tab. Program: Program settings of a programmed logger, or to program a connected data logger. Graph: Graph view of downloaded data of a logger or a file. Histogram: Histogram view of downloaded data of a logger or a file. Table: Data/readings of all sensors of downloaded data of a logger or a file. Summary: Summary view of downloaded data of a logger or a file. 10. Program & Configure To Program any ConsolePlus supported product, first of all a logger must be connected to computer (imini, iminiusb pdf or new released supported loggers). As soon as the logger is connected ConsolePlus will recognize it automatically and display the connected logger s information on left hand pane (logger/file list). Important Note: In order to program the logger, data of the logger must be downloaded first. Program icon will be disabled if the data is not downloaded. The program option will only be enabled if it is downloaded first. Program tab (to set the program parameters or view previous settings) will appear Progress bar - Download Rev. 3.2 Page 18

19 only when the data is downloaded. If auto download is not enabled, ConsolePlus will wait for user input to press download (by clicking download icon or from main menu, selecting logger and then clicking download). If auto download is enabled, ConsolePlus will immediately download the data. A progress bar of download will appear below logger/ file list (as shown on main window). After the download, by default graph tab appears, from tabs browse to program tab. Program window will appear (as shown below). In this window all the previous program settings of the logger can be viewed. For the ease, all the program parameters can be set in same window instead of going multiple pop-up windows. Screenshot (above) display MX-HE-S-16-L, it has three supported sensors. Title of the sensor tabs will be different depending on sensor type (NTC / Digital sensor). Password can strict program and download functions. 22 When logger is connected next time, ConsolePlus ask for a password depending on the option selected, if Allow RD is selected during program, Read Without Password READ button will be highlighted and clickable. After the click Download button will be enabled and data can be downloaded manually by click or if Auto Download is enabled if Allow WR is selected during program, Write Without Password WRITE button will be highlighted and clickable. After the click Program tab will be enabled Pre- defined Settings User can use set of pre-defined settings to program the logger by selecting the list of pre-set no. of days from drop down list. Pre- defined settings Settings of 1 day to 60 day are available. Program will use full memory of the logger and set the time interval between each reading automatically accordingly. Pre-defined settings will overwrite the manual settings of, time interval between each reading and number of total readings Program Template Program settings of a data logger can be saved as program template. Which can be used in future to program the loggers with same settings when needed. The program template will only work with same product code of loggers. To create a template, enter the desired settings on program tab (when the logger is connected) or open a previously saved data file. Save Template Program: From the main menu, click on file and select save program template. A popup window appears linked to default path, where a file name to program template can be assigned. Template will be save with extension *.xtp (ConsolePlus template file). Once the name is assigned press OK. Now this template can be used in future to program one or more loggers with the same settings. Load Template Program: User can use previously saved template (*.xtp) when required. A data logger must be connected to computer (template cannot be loaded if no logger is connected). To use previously saved program template from the main menu, click on file and select load program template. A pop-up window appears linked to default path or can be browsed to the location where the program template is Rev. 3.2 Page 22

23 saved. Once right *.xtp file is located (if multiple *.xtp files exist), select the file and press OK, ConsolePlus application will auto fill all the settings in the fields and will be displayed in red color fonts (as shown) Program lock icon will be locked and program icon will be highlighted as soon as the logger is plugged in and can be programmed with these saved settings Important Note: If a program template is loaded that belongs to a data logger with a different product code, an error will be displayed immediately. Template function is similar to lock program settings function, only difference is, Error message! Lock function works with the same session of programming multiple data loggers (without closing the application). Program template can be used anytime in future Lock Program Settings Lock function/ Template Multiple logger programming made easy with this unique function. Lock function can be accessed from icon bar or from main menu under logger. This function helps to program multiple loggers with the same settings. This function is very similar to program template function. To use this function when the logger is connected, at program tab enter the desired settings for new trip. Once all settings are in place, click the (lock icon) from the icon bar. Most of the parameters (as shown) will change from black to red color and the lock icon will appear as locked. Important Notes: For Lock and template functions: These can only be used with the loggers, which has same product code. If a different logger is detected, lock icon will turn into unlock icon and the red color parameters will turn black. All the settings will be reset. Rev. 3.2 Page 23

24 10.6. Program: Final Confirmation Once the program parameters entered correctly, click program icon. A confirmation dialogue will appear for the final approval. If pressed OK on dialogue box, new program settings will be sent to the logger. Progress bar will quickly grow from 0 to 100%. Depending on the logger type and program settings, loggers will exhibit successful program confirmation. Logger with LCD display may display ready or ready in delay and loggers without LCD will display the LED flash sequence (refer to the logger s user manual for more information). Important Note: Multi use loggers can be programmed with the option to start with timer and/or start button (immediate start or with some delay). Please select these settings carefully as required. In the version or above the progress bar of program will have red fill color, once logger is successfully programmed it will turn green Program confirmation Progress bar - Program Progress bar - Program 11. Download Data of ConsolePlus supported logger can be downloaded easily and very quickly anytime even if the logger is logging or it has stopped logging. Important Notes: iminiusb pdf logger will be stopped automatically when connected to computer. Logger with no data will still be downloaded however the graph, table & histogram will display empty windows, previous program settings can be viewed. Summary will display some information Auto download If the auto download setting is enabled in options, data of a logger will be automatically download when connected to computer and ConsolePlus is launched (refer to section 6.1.2) Manual download: If auto download is disabled, the detected logger will display information Logger/file list and greyed out download icon will be enabled. User can click the icon to downloaded data of connected logger. Depending on the memory size of the logger and size of stored data it can take few seconds to few minutes (for 128K memory loggers). Progress bar will grow for the download status. As soon as the data is retrieved, by default graph tab will appear and a graphical view of data will be displayed. Now all the disabled tabs will be enabled. Data can be viewed (graph, histogram, table, summary, program settings), saved in different formats and also can be analyzed. Rev. 3.2 Page 24

Auto- open PDF ConsolePlus generates PDF automatically if selected in options " auto save PDF. If the next option " auto open PDF is enabled, generated PDF will open automatically as soon as the logger is connected and data is downloaded. Adobe PDF applications must be installed on the computer. If Adobe PDF is not installed, user may receive a message during installation of ConsolePlus. 31 19. MKT User can view Mean Kinetic Temperature; on summary tab. Mean kinetic temperature (MKT) is a simplified way of expressing the overall effect of temperature fluctuations during storage or transit of perishable goods Activation energy (typically within kj mol - 1 for solids or liquids), ConsolePlus allow users to customize activation energy. This option is available in Options / settings on general tab 20. 36 21. Battery Status Logger s battery status is directly displayed on program tab. Software can detect the status and report with icon OK battery Low battery If the data logger has low battery, low battery symbol is displayed on LCD of the data logger (if logger supports LCD) 22. Print / Print- preview Print / Print- preview functions are available in ConsolePlus, when a file is open or logger is connected and downloaded. Available in main menu and icons are at the top of the application 23. Update ConsolePlus software will check for updates automatically and will display a confirmation message when application is launched. In the event of non-responsive upgrade, CANCEL the upgrade and re-launch ConsolePlus 8. Now deselect Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity 9. Now press OK 10.
