1 Grand Mac SIG Newsletter December 2013 Volume VIII Number 7 Grand Mac SIG December 16 Meeting 4:30 PM Apache Room The Mac SIG December meeting will feature Tech Gifts for the Mac User Tech Gifts for the Mac User Join us for our monthly Mac SIG meeting, at which the topic will be Tech Gifts for the Mac User, which is sure to give you ideas on gifts for family and friends, but also for you! Joyce Kloncz will be facilitating this presentation, with lots of input from our Mac volunteer team. Note that the monthly schedule showed the topic to be DropBox. However we ve found that the majority of our members are using icloud, rather than DropBox now. Plus we didn t have a DropBox presenter! 2 Welcome New Mac SIG Members Welcome to these new Mac users since our November newsletter: Ann Avard, Alice Braly, Chuck Dowdell, Carol Hvidsten, Dianne Luckett, Nancy Michels, Diane Reinsmoen, Linda Shaw, Marcy Sparks, Bruce Williams, Lynne & Lorren Zink. There are 221 Mac users on our list to date, up from 148 users Mac users since November. There are 915 members in the Grand Computers Club. The 221 Mac members are 24% of the club. MAC CLASSES FOR WINTER SESSION The winter class schedule beginning in January is being fleshed out now. Classes will be offered at 8, 10:30, 1:00 & 3:30. We will continue to offer some 4:00 PM classes in the open space room for classes that are smaller in attendance. We are offering 20 different Mac classes this session. Information about Mac classes will be available online on December 31; online and at the club registration will begin January 13. Classes will begin January 20. We thank our Mac instructors who give generously of their time to provide classes for our Mac users! Join us! November 18 Mac SIG on Mavericks On Monday, November 18, our Mac SIG monthly meeting was on Mavericks, presented by staff from MacMedia in Peoria. After giving us a background on how MacMedia can help our members, the presenters talked about the new operating system OS 10.9 Mavericks. They also explained how Mavericks works with icloud.
