Notepad software, is a simple text editing software. In Notepad we can save,open and create a new file for text formatting. Basic shortcut keys:- To cut text-select the text then press Ctrl+X To copy text-select the text then press Ctrl+C To paste text-select the text then press Ctrl+V Choose from the options and label the parts of the NOTEPAD window MENUBAR TITLEBAR WORKAREA CONTROL-BUTTONS VERTICAL-SCROLLBAR HORIZONTAL-SCROLLBAR 5

A file name extension is a set of characters that helps Windows understand what kind of information is in a file and what program should open it. It is called an extension because it appears at the end of the file name, following a period. In the file name myfile.txt, the extension is txt. Fill in the blanks:- 1. NOTEPAD Notepad is the most basic text editor, which allows you to open and create text files. You can use bold and italics formatting, and change the font, size of the text. Graphics. Notepad has no capabilities to insert graphics. File extension is.txt. WORDPAD WordPad is similar to Notepad, but gives you more formatting options. You can use bold and italics formatting, and change the font, size, and colour of the text. You can also create bulleted lists and centre and justify paragraphs. Graphics. You can insert graphics into WordPad, as well as edit them. File extension is.rtf.(rich text format) 7

A global Web of computers, the Internet allows individuals to communicate with each other. Often called the World Wide Web, the Internet provides a quick and easy exchange of information. Internet Browser An internet browser is a software program that enables you to view Web pages on your computer. Google chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox are commonly used for viewing the Internet. There are other browsers available as well. Frequently, new versions of browsers are made available to computer users; normally they are available to be downloaded from the Internet at no charge. Web Site A site or area on the World Wide Web that is accessed by its own Internet address is called a Web site. A Web site can be a collection of related Web pages. Each Web site contains a home page and may also contain additional pages. Each Web site is owned and updated by an individual, company, or organization.
