3 1 Introduction 1.1 Purpose / Applicability The following chapters describe the installation of the required driver and application on a new PC/Notebook, used to operate a SkyRAY Light antenna system. Further the first setup of the required parameter to operate the antenna. The last chapter describes how the Antenna is connected to the Flight Case. 4 2 Installation of device drivers 2.1 Install the CAN-Bus to USB-Adapter Driver Insert the CD Produkt CD Peak Systems Select your language ND SatCom GmbH

5 Select the Button Drivers Select PCAN-USB and press Install now to install the driver for the PCAN-USB converter ND SatCom GmbH

6 Uncheck PCAN-View CAN-Bus Monitor. Finish the installation by press next or Weiter Plug in the USB-cable from the Adapter a new USB attachment should be identified (pop up window) Let Windows automatically find and attach the installed driver ND SatCom GmbH

7 2.2 Moxa Server configuration Start the Moxa Server configure your PC - IP address: i.e XXX connect the Ethernet interface of your PC to the Moxa Server enter IP address into your browser in the GUI you have to change the serial settings of Port 1 and Port 2 Port 1 (serial settings) o Alias: GPS o Baud Rate: 4800 o Flowcontrol: none o click submit and the save/restart button in the next menu ND SatCom GmbH

9 2.3 APS - Server Installation Start the application Setup-NDSatCom-APS-SNG-Server-3.x.x.xxx.exe from CD and follow the installation screens as below: Press Next Press Next ND SatCom GmbH

13 2.4 JAVA Installation Start the j2re-1_4_2_14-windows-i586-p.exe from CD and follow the installation screens: Press Next Click Custom and Press Next ND SatCom GmbH

14 Click Change Change the folder name C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_14\ to C:\Program~1\Java\j2re1.4.2_14\ Click OK ND SatCom GmbH

17 3 GUI Installation Note: Before continuing with further installations, make sure you have the JAVA Version JRE 1.4.2_14 installed on your PC! You find this free software also on the APS installation CD. Start the application Setup-NDSatCom-Germany-APS-SNG-HMI-3.1.x.xx.exe from CD and follow the installation screens as below: Press Next ND SatCom GmbH

22 4 GUI - Antenna Pointing System (APS3) The following chapter describes the GUI of APS and the specific parameters required to configure and operate the antenna system 4.1 Start-Up Screen ND SatCom GmbH

23 4.2 Administrator Mode Select System in the Menu bar Select Administrator and input the Password aps3 Press Enter or Execute ND SatCom GmbH

24 4.3 Configure the APS NOTE: This mode is for experts/administrators only, who setup or maintain the antenna system Enter the ACU Odu over System Antenna ACU Odu Enter the panel maintenance make sure all motors and the inclinometer are working correctly (lighted green) Note: if not, try to pull the plug from the antenna and/or try to restart the APS service Referencing the Antenna NOTE: Only required for the first factory setup in Friedrichshafen or in case of malfunction of a drive system!! Reference azimuth, elevation and polarisation motor while the antenna is stowed by clicking the 3 corresponding buttons. If the antenna is not stowed correctly, please follow instructions in How to get to Stow position to get the antenna down ND SatCom GmbH

25 4.3.2 Reference an Limit switches Change in the reference & limit switch settings panel change the 3 Hide values to Show and execute (see below) ND SatCom GmbH

26 Change in the Motor Speed Settings panel set the motor speed for all purposes to 30% ND SatCom GmbH

27 Change in the Ext Ref & Switch Settings Panel set Left and Right End Switch for Azimuth to none connected ND SatCom GmbH

28 Change in the General Motor Settings panel set the motor offset to a value between 72.8 and 73.2 and the stow position 0.1 less (The exact value will be determine during the manufacturing of the antenna system) ND SatCom GmbH

29 4.3.3 Manual Control Within the Manual Control panel, the operator can move the antenna either by using the up, down, clockwise and counter clockwise buttons or the stow and unstow buttons. ND SatCom GmbH

30 4.4 How to get to Stow position If the antenna doesn t move and is not stowed follow these steps: Note: The Antenna should be in the Azimuth Reference position before stow the Antenna 1. Reference the elevation drive in the current position 2. set the motor offset (general motor settings panel in the Odu) to 0 3. drive down as far as you can but stop before the antenna hits the bumpers 4. if the antenna stops because the 75 border is reached repeat step if you are close to the bumpers use stepwise movement (see picture below)(click the big round antenna button in the main window to get to this window) to close the antenna completely(you can set the quantity of degrees for each step in the Step Size field, Execute to save it) 6. reference the antenna as described in a previous chapter. 31 4.5 How to change the satellite To change the satellite the APS will point to you have to select System APS Config in the menu bar of the main menu to get to the following screen: Here you can select the desired satellite and change the Pol. Offset, e.g. to get horizontal or vertical polarization. Click execute after changing something to save it. ND SatCom GmbH

32 4.6 How to configure the SkyWAN connection To configure the SkyWAN connection click the SkyWAN bubble in the mainmenu. Then click Edit Properties to get to the Sio Dialog. Here you can enter the IP-Address of the SkyWAN (Peer) and its port (Peer-Port). Click Execute to save changes. ND SatCom GmbH

33 4.7 How to configure the GPS To configure the GPS click the GPS bubble in the main menu. Click Edit Properties. Here you can change the settings of the Moxa-Server your GPS is connected to. Click Execute to save settings. ND SatCom GmbH

34 4.8 How to configure the Compass To configure the Compass click the Compass bubble in the main menu. Select the Info panel and the click Edit Properties. Here you can change the settings of the Moxa-Server your Compass is connected to. Click Execute to save settings. ND SatCom GmbH

35 SkyRAY Light 5 How to connect the SkyRAY Light Connect the antenna main connector plug to the base of the antenna. The other side of the cable has to be connected to the rear side of the box containing the power supply and communication equipment. ND SatCom GmbH 2007 HB_0531_1000_draft

36 SkyRAY Light Connect the CAN-Bus, the GPS and Compass connector to their corresponding socket marked by labels. Connect the 24 VDC connector for the antenna and the 230 VAC cable connected to the mains power. ND SatCom GmbH 2007 HB_0531_1000_draft

37 SkyRAY Light Connect your PC to the front side of the rack. Connect the computer to the USB Port (Computer) of this front panel and the Ethernet Port (Ethernet). Don t forget to switch on the power supply at the front side of the rack (illuminated when on). The antenna is now ready to use. ND SatCom GmbH 2007 HB_0531_1000_draft
