1 ShipWeight Patch Update Info, Patch.3, January 04 SHIPWEIGHT.3 PATCH NEW FUNCTIONALITY Note: Some of the new main functionality for the upcoming.0 release of ShipWeight has been released in beta versions in the.3 and is presented here. The functionality has been fully implemented, but testing and documentation is limited and the functions should be used with caution. SUMMARY OF ANY CUSTOM CODE IN THE MAIN WINDOW In the Options dialog (menu: View >Options ) from the General tabsheet, the user can now select any custom code defined and use this as the quantity that will be shown and summarized (including corresponding CG values) in ShipWeight s main window, as long as the custom code is a number field. This means that calculated codes including various margins, not to exceed weights, and other alternative weight calculation can be shown in the main window. Even non weight fields, like Cost fields can utilize this function although CG values may not make physical sense in some cases.

2 USER DEFINED KEY SETTINGS FOR THE ITEM TABLE ShipWeight Patch Update Info, Patch.3, January 04 A single item in ShipWeight is defined by a unique combination of weight group and item number (WgtGrp and ItemNo field). Functionality has been added to let a user with administrator permissions define the properties of a unique item. From the menu Database >Administrator >Item Table Primary Keys a pop up dialog lets the ShipWeight user with administrator user permissions define the keys for the item table. For example one may define the ItemNo to be the only key field by removing the WgtGrt key, to only allow for items with unique item number in the database, or one may add extra fields as key to allow items with similar weight group and item number, but distinguished by other fields. Note: This functionality is only available when starting a new project database in version.3 or later. It will not be available on existing project databases. GLOBAL FILTER Item filters are well known to ShipWeight users, but up until version.3 these filters have only been possible to apply locally in windows and dialogs, such as the item dialog, the weight distribution dialog, the gyration dialog, etc. New functionality from version.3 allows global filters to be defined and set in the ShipWeight main window and these filters will be applied to all windows, dialogs, functions, views, calculations and results in ShipWeight when activated. A filter can be defined as follows (numbers refer to the picture below):. Push browse button to open the global filter window.. Use this area to define the filter. Note that you need to put text strings in quotes and that some of the grids have dropdown lists for selections of values. 3. The filter defined in the area will be shown as string text in area 3. It is also possible to write the filter directly in this area and skip area. 4. A name may be given for the filter defined and previously saved filters can be found in the droplist of this combobox. 5. There are buttons to save, delete, and import filters. 6. Activate the filter by selecting it in the listbox.

3 ShipWeight Patch Update Info, Patch.3, January 04 PHASE CODING Phase code filters are a special type of custom code and filter that allows the user to perform reliable weight tracking and reporting with configuration changes and multiple similar vehicles. Phase coding means looking at the series production as a timeline, where: The timeline is starting with vehicle and ending at vehicle n You define the necessary phases, ranging from any start and endpoint on the timeline Weight items are tagged to a phase, meaning that they are to be included for vehicles in this phase The total weight of an individual vehicle is the sum of all items tagged to the phases that the time of the vehicle corresponds to The method allows you to set a Time In and Time Out to define the time or phase an item is to be included and counted for and to be combined with the global filter function to report and track weight of an individual object in the series production. See next page for an example. 3

4 ShipWeight Patch Update Info, Patch.3, January 04 Say you are about to do a series of 0 hulls. You have one baseline and 5 modifications that apply to various hulls in the series. In this case you can define a phase code in ShipWeight to apply to items to define if they are part of the baseline or one of the modifications. This would be defined in the Code Definition dialog and could look like this: So far this would be like any other custom code, but the next step is to define for which hulls the various modifications are valid in the new columns Start (Time in) and Stop (Time out). As shown below, the baseline coded items will be valid for all hulls ( > 0), Modification will be active for hulls 3, 4, and 5, Modification for hulls 5, 6, 7, and 8, while Modification 3 will only be applied to hull no 6, and so on. The next step is to tag the items to the phase codes, if not already done. This is done like you would for any other custom code. 4

5 ShipWeight Patch Update Info, Patch.3, January 04 At this stage we will have all items for all modifications summarized, but now we may slice through the project to obtain weights for a single hull. In the example we want to get the weight of hull number 7, which from the definition of our codes would mean getting the baseline items and the items from modifications and 4. The figure below shows graphically how the phase codes are defined related to the hulls and also how we slice to obtain the value of hull number 7. Hull no Baseline Mod. Mod. In the Options dialog (menu View >Options ), set the custom codes used for phases as the Time code. 5

6 ShipWeight Patch Update Info, Patch.3, January 04. In the global filter, set the Time to 7 (which here would refer to hull) to slice through the project. Now ShipWeight will be calculating on only the items that are relevant for hull number 7. The phase code method can also be used on configurations, in addition to series production. Also, still problems with calculations when X.dir=. Should be same values as X.dir=+ except T_AP = T_FP. Main When there is a moment change in a 0 weight weight group, the change is not taken into account in parent groups. We need a special treatment for these groups, moments, not CG, needs to be tranferred to the parent group during calculations. 3 9 Error. Project/New When a project database prefix is set (Options >Database >Project database Prefix), the Project/New function does not work properly. When you pick the project there is an error message saying cannot pick EI_SW00 SW00_Database (if EI is prefix and dbname is Database). 3 Change Error Error New Change New Error New New Weight Report Setting Administer Project Database Make it possible to edit comments in a separate window with only one single EditBox. Must either take effect when closing the dialog, or the user must be told to restart ShipWeight Change Item dialog It would be very nice to have something in the toolbar that would show more strongly that a filter is on (something more visible than the Apply Filter button) Error Item dialog If you add a new line without pressing enter, but going to the line above without adding ItemNo, error comes but not the error message to say that ItemNo is missing. 4 0 Error Log dialog (Comment dialog) If I make a new estimate, do not save the project, go to close it and then say "Yes" to save it, clicking "Get Wgt.Grps." button in Log dialog will make ShipWeight crash. Shold we rename log dialog to Comment dialog? Some users are confusing it with the log database Error Code Mapping When there are no mappings at all in the Code Mapping dialog: Error message CCodeMapDlg::OnImportasciibutton when clicking "Import ASCII" or "Import SW" in the Code Mapping dialog. Not possible to select file to import or project to import from. Works OK if other mapping exists in the dialog. 0

If I close the dialog, open again and then delete, it works OK Change Custom Import A wish from Randi to also have wash functions to remove 0. Because in ShipWeight she has and digit SFI numbers, but in department spreadsheet these have 0's. In example SFI in ShipWeight is 0 in spreadsheet Error Custom Import Error when importing Department spreadheet with "Replace existing" option toggled on, and existing items exists in the database Error Item Dialog Calculated custom codes does not update in Item view when values are changed.
