3 Unable to connect to Sage data When you click on the Cache Sage Data button and the below error appears, please follow the steps outlined below: 1) On the Add-Ins Ribbon, click on Settings. 2) Re-type all the information, including Company Name, Username, Password, Data Path and Version Number. For your Prior Year data to also appear, please ensure that the PY option is ticked. Note: if you do not have a password for Sage, click on the password field, erase the content and click tab. (You can find the Data Path in Sage by clicking on Help > About > Data Directory) 3) Now when you click on Cache Sage Data, the following screen should appear. 3

5 Macro Error - Re-adding the Add-In The error above suggests that the macro has not been enabled for the machine. Go to File, Options, click on the Trust centre at the left hand side of the screen, and then Trust Centre Settings. 5
6 On the macro settings, click on enable all macros. Next follow the below steps to re add the add in. 6
7 Not a valid add-in This error suggests that you may be running a 64 bit version of Microsoft Excel, 32 bit is required. To find out what version you are using In Excel, click on File/Windows sign -> Account -> About Excel Re-adding the addin: After the macro has been enabled as shown above, the add in will need to be re added. 1) In Excel, click on File/ Windows sign -> Excel Options -> Add-Ins. 7
8 Then press the Go button for manage Excel Add-ins. 2) After clicking on Go button, the above window appears. Click on Browse -> Computer -> Local Disk (C:) -> Program Files(x86)-> The Analyser-> Excel AddIns and then double click on the file The Analyser.xll. 8
9 3) Click Yes to the message and then OK. Close and restart Excel. 9
10 Access denied to The Analyser The error above shows that you do not have the full access to The Analyser folder, so please open the following paths and change the permissions for both folders by right clicking and selecting Properties, as shown in the image below. Local Disk (C:) -> Program Files(x86)-> The Analyser-> Excel AddIns Local Disk (C:) -> Program Data -> The Analyser -> Excel AddIns If Program Data folder is not visible in the C Drive, click on the view toolbar, options, change folder and search option. 10
11 Click on the show hidden files, folder and drives. 11
12 Once The Analyser Properties window appears, select the Security tab and click Edit to provide full control to the User from the list. Press OK for both windows to save the changes and restart Excel to complete the process. 12
13 Multi-company version (v4) of Analyser - Clearing the Cache If you have the multi-company Analyser (Version 4 onwards), then you will be asked the question above when you click the Cache Sage Data button more than once. Important: If you have only one set of Sage data, click Yes to this message. If you are running multiple Sage data on one spreadsheet, click No to this message. Each company will then have to be cached individually. 13
14 Error 1001 in the installation 1) When the above error occurs in the installation process, leave the message on screen (do not click ok), then browse to the desktop. In your desktop create two folders and name them programdata, programfiles. Then browse to the following paths: a) C:\ProgramData\The Analyser\Excel AddIns b) C:\Program Files (x86)\the Analyser\Excel Addins Copy all the contents from each folder above and paste into the corresponding folder created in the desktop. 2) Now back in the install screen, click ok to the error 1001 message. Open the two folders created in desktop, copy all contents and paste to the corresponding folder shown in directory a,b. 3) In Excel add the addin as below: Tip: refer to pages 7-8, for detailed instructions: - File, Options, addins, manage excel addin, go. Browse: C:\Program Files (x86)\the Analyser\Excel AddIns\The Analyser.xll 4) - Close and reopen Excel, then view, macros, and type in changelicence all as one word. Tip: refer to page 10 for detailed instructions. 14
15 This will bring up the licencing box, the unique identifier key to who will then send the licence key. Using v4.04 and budgetbal value is #value Issue is 4.04 is a multi-company and even if not using more than 1 company budgetbal needs to know that, therefore reference the company field in(). 15
16 Budget File Error When clicked on cache sage data: the above error appears, this message indicates a problem with the Excel budget file. 16
17 Open the directory of the budget file in Sage (help about click on the data directory hyperlink). Find the budget.xls file and open the spread sheet. Click on File, Save As. Save the spreadsheet as a.csv file, and close Excel. Note: save the file in the default path. 17
18 Open the data path of the budget file again, (Sage, help, about, data directory). There should be two Excel files: budgets.csv and budgets.xls. Delete the budgets.xls file. Open the budgets.csv file and resave back to.xls format. Close Excel. Now back in the budget data directory, delete the budgets.csv folder. You should now only have one budget.xls file. Please note: the budget spreadsheet should not contain any illegal characters ie: -/&\,: *!. () 18
