Hardware Grid MIDI Controller - Novation Launchpad MK1/S/Mini(Non-RGB), MK2(RGB) & Pro - Akai Professional APC mini - Behringer CMD TOUCH TC64 (Launchpad S Emulation Mode) CTRL App for Android Get it on Google Play for free. Connect to the computer with Wi-Fi. Programmable MIDI Controller See Reference Manual for details. Windows Tablet Use a device running also as a Controller. Mouse (for trial) With a Controller Screen by software. 4

5 Computer Windows / Mac Running Software available on NOTE: is originally made for Windows, and software for Mac is converted by Wineskin. DAW Synth DAW / Software synthesizer Connect to via Virtual MIDI Cable. Examples of Virtual MIDI Cables: Windows: LoopBe1, LoopMIDI (Search the internet) Mac: IAC Driver (Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup) Pre-installed software synthesizer (for trial) Windows: Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth NOTE: Some audio latency (delay) exists in this case. 6 3. Setup Computer Windows Extract the downloaded zip file and double-click the execution file pracq.exe to run. (No need to install it.) NOTE: If SmartScreen pop-up appears when you try to run this program, click "More info" and then click "Run anyway." Mac Double-click the downloaded file Pracq.app to run. NOTE: If security warning pop-up appears when you try to run this program, press the Control key, then click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu. 6

CTRL App for Android Make sure that computer and Android device are connected to the same network. On computer program, select " CTRL App" at CONTROLLER TYPE. (If a security pop-up appears, allow to access the network.) 3. On Android app, press [CONNECT]. If you are having problems, check the settings of firewall, antivirus program, and network router. uses port for UDP communication. Windows Tablet / Mouse Open the Controller Screen. When a controller connection is established, this pad will turn lit in Amber. 7

8 DAW Synth Select a MIDI device (Virtual MIDI Cable) that is used to connect software and DAW/synthesizer from INSTRUMENT OUT menu. On the DAW/synthesizer side, set this MIDI device as a input. If you use Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth or CoreAudio MIDI Synth 0, select them directly. 9 4. Notice for using a Mouse If you use a Mouse to operate, check the following point. How to operate by two fingers Illustrations on this Manual for Hardware Grid MIDI Controller & Tablet PC Instructions for Mouse The first Finger must be held down. Right and left mouse buttons emulate two fingers to operate pads. Both buttons are the same function. Then press/click by the second Finger. While holding a button, you can move the mouse cursor to click another pad by the other button. (This operation doesn t work as a Drag operation.) 9

10 5. Tutorials Sketch 1Play the Keyboard Press any Keyboard Pads. By default, C Major Scale appears on the Keyboard Pads. HIghest Keyboard Pads You will hear the synthesizer sounds. Otherwise, check the connection. Lowest 2nd Lowest 2Put a Note into a Step Hold down any one of Step Pads. Press any one of Keyboard Pads. 3. Release both Pads. 4. After that, this Step Pad will keep lit in Amber to indicate that a Note is in this Step. 1st 2nd Step Pads 32nd Here is a Note! 10

11 Refinement 1Listen to a Note in a Step Press a lit Step Pad to check a Note in this Step. Corresponding Note 2Change a Note in a Step Hold down a lit Step Pad. Press an unlit Keyboard Pad, and this Pad will turn lit. 3. Release both Pads. 3Remove a Note from a Step Hold down a lit Step Pad. Press a lit Keyboard Pad, and this Pad will turn unlit. 3. Release both Pads. 11

12 Playback 1Start playback Press the Playback Pad. By default, BPM(Tempo) is 120. (Press it again to stop playback.) 2Move a Playback Position Hold down the Jump Pad. Press a Step Pad that you want to move a Playback Position to. 3. Release both Pads. Playback Position (Red Pad) Playback Pad Corresponding Note Jump Pad 3Make a Loop Region Hold down a Step Pad that you want to begin a loop at. Press a Step Pad that you want to end a loop at. 3. Release both Pads. 4. Press the Loop Pad, and then a Loop Region will apply to a playback. 5. Press the Loop Pad again to clear this Loop Region. 13 Edit 1 Enter the Command Mode Press the Command Mode Pad to enter the Command Mode. Pads in lower three rows will change to Command Item Pads. (Press it again to exit this Mode.) Command Item Pads Command Mode Pad 2Select Steps Hold down the first Step Pad that you want to edit. Press the last Step Pad that you want to edit. 3. Release both pads. SELECTED Steps (Green Pads) 3Select a Command Item For example, press the Clear Pad to clear (remove) Notes in the SELECTED Steps. (Press it again to cancel this selection.) CL"(CLear) Clear Pad 13

14 Edit (Continued) Execute a Command 4Press the Execute Pad to execute selected command. Notes in the SELECTED Steps are cleared. Execute Pad 14

15 Setting 1 Enter the Setting Mode Press the Setting Mode Pad to enter the Setting Mode. Pads in lower three rows will change to Setting Item Pads. (Press it again to exit this Mode.) 2Select a Setting Item For example, press the BPM Pad to display the BPM(Tempo) value.
