This DAC will accept an input signal on any input except USB, (the USB input on the MOON 300D accepts a digital audio signal of up to 16-bits/48kHz. Jeff Dorgay, TONE Audio review of 300D It s interesting to note that MOON does not consider the USB the best solution for high resolution digital playback and chose to focus their efforts on the intrinsic advantages of other digital inputs. MOON opted to provide the best possible power supply, D/A converter and analog stage in the 300D at this price point. Keep in mind that USB was never intended for use with hi-resolution audio; there are latency issues which compromise sound quality (i.e. jitter and phase errors, etc.). The back panel features a total of 4 digital inputs (USB, SPDIF x 2, and TosLink) and both balanced (XLR) and singleended (RCA) analog outputs. The balanced outputs provide a significant improvement in dynamics and midrange transparency.
