IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 Firmware S77 Release BULLETIN ID: , Rev 1 PUBLISHED: STATUS: Active REGION: APAC CALA EMEA GC NA PRIORITY: Minor TYPE: Bulletin Background: Nortel is pleased to announce the general availability of a maintenance release of firmware (2310S77) for the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 providing general quality improvements. Nortel recommends an upgrade to this maintenance release of firmware for all applicable sites at the next scheduled maintenance window. This firmware can be downloaded from the Nortel website (instructions later in this document). This maintenance release is being provided as a no charge update to all customers. This firmware upgrade is applicable to the following Nortel Communication Servers: - CS CS 2000 CICM - CS BCM/SRG 50 - BCM 200/400 ; SRG 200/400 - BCM 450 Corrections included in this Maintenance Release: CRQ : CICM: 09 / 2033 one way transmission (CS 2000) Notes on DHCP Vendor Options: For the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033, the DHCP discovery process works in this way: 1) IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 client is plugged in and sends "DHCP Discover" broadcast which includes the hardcoded Option 60 Vendor Class identifier "Nortel-i2004-A" and requests from the DHCP Server a list of parameters including Option 43, 128, ) The DHCP Server is configured with a Vendor Class "Nortel-i2004-A" (Must match the Option 60 value coming from the phone) which includes certain parameters, example Option 128, 191 IP Phone Compatibility: This feature release is compatible with the following IP Phone units:- NTEX11AA70 and NTEX11AA70E6 IP Audio Conference Phone 2033

[Please order NTTK power cord separately] NTEX11FA70E6 N IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 Package (ROHS) - Phone with PoE module, Universal Power Supply with 2 Extension Microphones- [Please order NNTK power cord separately] Analysis: Nortel Communication Server Compatibility and Requirements This software release is provided freely on Nortel support websites and so replaces all previous builds. Compatibility with Nortel Communication Servers is shown below, in all cases firmware S77 is recommended for the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 CS 1000 R5.5:- For details on using Element Manager to download the firmware releases and upgrade IP Phones, refer to NN CS 1000 R5.0: For details on using Element Manager to download the firmware releases and upgrade IP Phones, refer to NN CS 1000 R4.5: For details on using Element Manager to download the firmware releases and upgrade IP Phones, refer to NTP BCM 50 ; SRG 50 R2.0, Rls 3.0 BCM 200/400 ; SRG 200/400 Rls 4.0 BCM 450 Rls 1.0 CS2100:- SE08 IPCM 8.0 is the official introduction load for the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 on the CS CS2000:- SN08 MR3 is the official introduction load for the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 on the CS Recommendations: Upgrading firmware from 2310S10 to this release 2310S Upgrading the firmware of the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 from any release to the recommended release S77 can be done using the Element Manager via UTFP. This is covered in the next section. Element Manager support was introduced in load S18, therefore upgrading from S10 must be done in two steps: - TFTP to build S18; - Then UFTP (or TFTP) to build S77. This process is described below. To upgrade the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 firmware from 2310S10 to 2310S77, the phone must go through the following two steps: Step 1 - Upgrade from 2310S10 to 2310S18 via TFTP: 1. Upload the following two files to the TFTP server a) Target firmware load: 2310S18.bin b) Configuration file: i2033.cfg. Ensure the bin file name in the configuration file is correspondent to the target load. In this case: SET APPNAME 2310S18.bin Page: 2 of 5

3 Please note: the name of bin file is case sensitive. 2. Configuration on IP Audio Conference Phone 2033: a) Power up the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033, when the phone displays Nortel, press the softkeys SK1 SK2 SK3 to get into the manual config menu. b) When the phone displays: TFTP Server IP:, enter the TFTP server IP address Let the phone go through the configuration sequence. After it has rebooted, the phone will start to download 2310S18 via TFTP. Step 2 - Upgrade from 2310S18 to 2310S77 via UFTP, i.e. enhance firmware download: 1. Remove 2310S18.bin and i2033.cfg from the above TFTP server to avoid a constant loop. 2. Upload 2310S77.bin and i2033.cfg to the UFTP server. Please refer to CS1000 on how to upload firmware on the Element Manager. 3. Power up the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033, when the phone displays Nortel, press the softkeys SK1 SK2 SK3 to get into the manual config menu. 4. When the phone displays: S1 IP:, enter the S1 server IP address. 5. Let the phone go through the configuration sequence. After it has rebooted and connected to the S1, if the load on the phone is different from the load on the server, the phone will start to download 2310S77 via UFTP automatically. Upgrading from 2310S18 and later to this release 2310S On installation or rebooting, the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 automatically downloads the firmware placed on the UFTP server. [Use the procedure described in step 2 above]. Required Actions: Firmware Download Instructions To download the files from the Nortel web site, follow these instructions (Note - You will need to log in to complete the steps below): 1. Access the < web site and log in. 2. Select 'Phones, Clients & Accessories'. 3. Select 'IP Audio Conference Phone 2033'. 4. Select 'Software'. 5. Select the 'IP Audio Conference 2033 Release S77' link and download the file. Complete the encryption questionnaire and download the file to a UFTP or TFTP server. 6. Refer to the applicable NTP for instructions on loading the firmware on the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 from the server As stated in the NTP , Procedure 113 Downloading the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 firmware Note: Nortel recommends that the user ends an active call before performing firmware upgrade. Otherwise results may be unpredictable. 1. Download the latest IP Phones firmware from the Nortel web site as above. 2. Load the latest version of the IP Phones firmware and place it on the TFTP Server. Ensure the TFTP Server is started. The files required are: - i2033.cfg - firmware binary file (2310S77.bin, for instance) 3. If you statically assign IP addresses, ensure that the IP address, TFTP Server IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway information are accurate. If you are using a DHCP Server, ensure the DHCP options are configured. 4. Enter the TFTP Server IP address in the configuration menu, and reboot the IP Audio Conference Phone Page: 3 of 5

For Additional Information: Known Problems and Recommendations ) Signaling encryption - Upgrading the Primary Key Upgrading the Primary Key on the SMC 2450 should be performed only when the IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 is online. All IP Audio Conference Phone 2033's that are offline when the Primary Key is updated will not be able to receive the new key and will be blocked by the SMC 2450 when being returned to online status. Sets impacted in this way will require a manual installation of the Primary Key before service can resume. Refer to the appropriate IP Audio Conference Phone 2033 NTP's for the procedure. 2) Authentication - Characteristics of the deviceid The deviceid that is used to authenticate the conference unit has to be 4 or more characters long. This is design intent to eliminate the use of less secure entries.
