4 Introduction Product Description This EVB is a demonstration and evaluation platform that provides two main boards in this EVB package. You can use one board for transmitter and the other one for receiver function. Also you can select video daughter boards for evaluating video function. Wi-Fi module is available for wireless evaluation. You also can use 4 transmitters for multi-channel connection DEMO. Copious video interface is an advantage of this EVB. It can be used to evaluate various video inputs and outputs. The SD card function is used to store video files on transmitter site or receiver site. You can also playback video files on the platform. AL582 SDK and DEMO boards DEMO cases are compatible with this H/W EVB. Please refer to the AverLogic website ( or contact your AverLogic representative (see the last page of this document) for more information. 5 1. EVB Quick Setup The EVB default DEMO code is Home Smart Cam project (HSC Project). You can find the sample code in the SDK. 1.1 Attach Wi-Fi modules to main boards Attach Wi-Fi modules on the TX and RX main boards. CMOS sensor daughter board Also have to check the accessories on EVB. TX main board - Video input is CMOS sensor daughter board and the video output is HDMI daughter board. HDMI daughter board RX main board - Video input is CMOS sensor daughter board and the video output is HDMI daughter board. Wi-Fi daughter board 1.2 Attach power cable The power adapter unit itself will be attached to the Plexiglas. Attach one end of the power cable to the adapter and the other end to a wall socket with the appropriate voltage. 1.3 Attach TV monitor (requires HDMI connector) Attach your monitor to the video output daughter board connector of receiver site. Turn on your monitor. 1.4 Turn on board power After you turn on your TV monitor, toggle the power switch (S1), which is located on the main board near the power adapter connector ~2018 Copyright by AverLogic Technologies, Corp. 5

6 RX Board - Power on OSD RX Board When TX is detected and connected, you can select video from RX CMOS to TX CMOS by pressing keypad. RX Board - You also can press keypad for operating menu tree. Please refer to SDK s DOCs for more details ~2018 Copyright by AverLogic Technologies, Corp. 6

8 2 Download a binary code to the EVB There are two ways to download binary code to the flash. One is using the SPI bus (SPI Mode), and the other one is through UART bus by using AL582 s In- System-Programming function (ISP mode). SPI Mode - Use the AverLogic Debug Tool (windows AP with an USB to Serial cable for software updated) to burn Boot Loader code or System code to the SPI flash directly. ISP Mode - In-System-Programming function Upload system code to the flash using AverLogic debug tool with a system code. The boot loader code should be burned in the flash first. Window Tool The SPI Tool software named AverLogic.exe will work with AverLogic Debug Tool. The software (AverLogic.exe) can be found in the SDK. If you need the SPI/ISP tool (AverLogic Debug Tool), please contact AverLogic representative for more information. 10 B. Click the Browse button (action 1) on the tool and browse the binary files containing the code you want to burn-in (action 2). C. Click the Run button to start the burn-in process (action 3). You can see the burn-in procedure on the information window D. 12 2.2 Firmware Upload Procedure by using ISP mode ISP Mode provides an easy way for upload system code to the flash through UART interface.
