2 What s New in Release RealPresence Media Suite includes the features and functionality of previous releases and also includes the following new feature: Added 60 Days option to the Content Expiration Setting drop-down menu. This release resolves a number of important field issues. Please refer to the Resolved Issues table for the list of issues that were resolved in this release. Media Suite Cannot Support SSTR from v2.6 As Microsoft end of support for WMS and IIS, the support of streaming protocol SSTR to the external server is discontinued and the support of WMS and IIS as external third party server is removed from v2.6. Along with Silverlight, player through SSTR streaming was replaced by Flash player by RTMP streaming from v2.1, so SSTR streaming protocol is not supported from v2.6. If the customer still wants to get the streaming from RealPresence Media Suite through SSTR for Silverlight player (for example, integrates with RealPresence Media Manager), the customer has to keep using Media Suite v2.5. 4 Security Updates Please refer to the Polycom Security Center for information about known and resolved security vulnerabilities. License Control Starting with RealPresence Media Suite version 2.0, RealPresence Media Suite has introduced new license types. All current users of Capture Server 1.x who upgrade to RealPresence Media Suite 2.0+ are entitled to the basic license. A Pro License and Platinum license can be added to provide additional functionality. Based on the size of deployment, a Scalability Mode license may also be available. While upgrading the system from v2.8 to v2.8.2, you do not need a new license key of v2.8.2 to active the system. For RealPresence Media Suite VE edition, when you upgrade the system to v2.8.2, system will use default 6/3 trial license before you activate the new license key. Polycom RealPresence Clariti Support RealPresence Media Suite is now available as part of Polycom RealPresence Clariti, a Polycom collaboration infrastructure offer that features simplified concurrent user licensing and add-on options. RealPresence Clariti customers should consult with their Polycom representative to ensure they have the correct licensing information before upgrading. Polycom RealPresence Clariti customers who have a Polycom RealPresence Resource Manager System version 10.0 or later must use the RealPresence Resource Manager system to license their product. If you have not deployed a RealPresence Resource Manager system or if you have not upgraded your RealPresence Resource Manager system to version 10.0 or later, you must license your product using the RealPresence Platform Director System version 3.0. If RealPresence Media Suite has been upgraded from a prior software version, the system will use an Activation Key obtained from Polycom Service & Support page of the Polycom website. If your deployment includes RealPresence Resource Manager 10.0 or later, you cannot use RealPresence Platform Director 3.0 to license your product. Polycom, Inc. 4

Products Tested with this Release RealPresence Media Suite systems are tested extensively with a wide range of products. The following list is not a complete inventory of compatible equipment. It indicates the products that have been tested for compatibility with this release. Polycom recommends that you upgrade your Polycom devices with the latest software versions, as compatibility issues may already have been addressed by software updates. See the Current Polycom Interoperability Matrix to match product and software versions. Video conferencing systems use a variety of algorithms to compress audio and video. In a call between two systems, each end transmits audio and video using algorithms supported by the other end. In some cases, a system may transmit a different algorithm than it receives. This process occurs because each system independently selects the optimum algorithms for a particular call, and different products may make different selections. This process should not affect the quality of the call. 19 System Installation and Upgrade Notes Software Installation If you have purchased a new RealPresence Media Suite as a single product or as a component of the RealPresence Clariti solution, see the Polycom RealPresence Media Suite Getting Started Guide for instructions on how to install and license your product. Note that installation of new RealPresence Media Suite is managed through Polycom Global Services. For more information, contact your Polycom representative. RealPresence Clariti customers as well as virtual edition customers must use the RealPresence Platform Director system to license the products. The RealPresence Platform Director system is available for download at Documents and Downloads at Polycom Support at no additional charge. Software Upgrade Make sure all configuration files are backed up before upgrade. The customer will have to upgrade to each version in order to get to v2.8. After upgrading to v2.8.2, Polycom recommends to do the following: The administrator is required to change the default console password when log into the admin portal. Please log in to the system through SSH (default console user name and password are polycom\polycom) and set a new console password. The backup configuration files can only be used by the version it was backed up on. So version configuration backup file can only be used on a version system. Once the system is upgraded, back up the configuration file and media data. Download and install the latest RealPresence Media Suite Easy Capture from User Portal if the old version cannot sign in or upgrade properly. Make sure the Native Client on page chrome://flags and chrome://plugins is enabled. Polycom, Inc. 19

20 From v2.6, RealPresence Media Suite does not support IIS and Windows Media Server as external media server. If RealPresence Media Suite is upgrade from previous release to v2.6, all configurations related to IIS and Windows Media Server will be cleaned (including VRR, event, and external server status). Software Fallback If RealPresence Media Suite falls back from v2.8.2 to v2.8, all configuration data (for example, channels, categories, and local users) created in v2.8.2 is lost. All new recording and new UGC files created in v2.8.2 can be synced up from admin portal. So if decide to fall back RealPresence Media Suite from v2.8.2 to v2.8, you should do it as early as possible. Known Issues The following table lists known issues in all releases of RealPresence Media Suite. These release notes do not provide a complete listing of all known issues that are included in the software. Issues not expected to significantly impact customers with standard voice and video conferencing environments may not be included. In addition, the information in these release notes is provided as-is at the time of release and is subject to change without notice. Known Issues Category Issue No. Description Workaround AKAMAI PCTCRSS The start time of AKAMAI live streaming always begin from 20:22:55. - Backup and Restore PCTCRSS The configuration under System Setting in the User Portal Admin menu cannot be restored. Restore the configuration manually. Device Management PCTCRSS When add a Media Node to the RealPresence Media Suite Center, the Media Node status is maintenance, the Local Disk cannot be listed when edit Media Storage of the Media Node. Time variances between devices that exceed one minute may affect OVA deployments using DHCP. Make VMWare host time consistent with NTP server time.nist.gov before deploying OVA. Interoperation PCTCRSS IVR notifications cannot work after doing hold and resume in Group Series. Interoperation PCTCRSS When RealPresence Media Suite dials out to Sony XG80 by SIP, people video is dark. Interoperation PCTCRSS If RealPresence Media Suite administrator password has been changed and RealPresence Resource Manager try to refresh RealPresence Media Suite license, RealPresence Resource Manager gets wrong message from RealPresence Media Suite. Interoperation PCTCRSS Sometimes after you deployed the RealPresence Media Suite using EDU, you cannot access the RealPresence Media Suite administrator or user portal. Interoperation PCTCRSS This issue occurs only in Aqua environment. RealPresence Media suite cannot dial SIP call to Aqua with dial string of @plcm.vc IWA PCTCRSS Non-IWA enabled PC have to input twice credentials when access RealPresence Media Suite User Portal. Log PCTCRSS Rarely happens, no log files are displayed on System Logs page on Admin Portal. Do not hold and resume during the recording. From Sony XG80, dial into RealPresence Media Suite to start recording. - Manually restart the RealPresence Media Suite VM instance. - Add RealPresence Media Suite User Portal to IE s local Intranet trusted sites. Playback PCTCRSS When play back video recorded by Polycom VVX to meeting, few seconds scrambled video appears. Playback PCTCRSS When Media Suite dials QDX using SIP after call is established, no people video is displayed on QDX. The scrambled video will disappear automatically. - Recording PCTCRSS PCTCRSS Call is disconnected after doing hold resume on Cisco EX90 or Group Series in a VRR Call. Do not hold and resume during recording. Recording PCTCRSS If one Group Series calls another Group Series with call rate more than 3,072 kbps through SIP, and start recording through H.323, the recording falls back to audio only (M4A). Recording PCTCRSS If make the calls constantly and the time interval between the calls less than 3 seconds, the DSP recording capacity is unstable. The maximum number of recordings cannot reach 36.
