Type Maximum Capacity Admin UI Login 200 Viewer Portal Login 3000 Support for Native Windows Media Multicast The RSS 4000 v8.5 can output standard Windows Media multicast streaming video. These live WMV multicast streams are accessible from both the system s Admin UI and from the Viewer Portal. The Polycom RSS 4000 multicast add-in is no longer necessary for video broadcasts. Integrating with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 RSS 4000 v8.5 now has the ability to register natively to Microsoft Lync 2010 server to provide Lync users with the ability to record/stream directly to /from the RSS 4000 with Lync native video (RTV) and audio. Lync content is ignored by the RSS 4000; only video and audio are recorded/streamed. Lync users do not receive the standard RSS user interface ( TVUI ) in their video window, and thus can not manually control the recording start/pause/end functions (nor can they play back video in Lync window form recorded video archives). VRRs to be used with Lync clients must be set to Recording Immediately in the VRR configuration screen. RSS v8.5 is not interoperable with the Lync AVMCU. To record multipoint video calls that include Lync clients, use a Polycom RMX MCU. Detecting IP Address and DNS When you configure the RSS management service address, the system attempts to validate the IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) or DNS address. When you configure the RSS 4000 system's server address, the system also validates the reachability of the address you entered. Notice about Using Polycom SNMP MIB Files Besides standard SNMP MIB files, the Polycom RSS v8.5 also provides two proprietary MIB files: POLYCOM-BASE-MIB.mib POLYCOM-REAL-PRESENCE-MONITORING-MIB.mib To use these Polycom MIB files, please first import the file POLYCOM-BASE-MIB.mib, then POLYCOM-REAL-PRESENCE-MONITORING-MIB.mib. Otherwise, the Polycom MIB files cannot be correctly compiled. Polycom, Inc. 11

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround Downgrade PCTCRSS-2641 After you downgrade your Polycom RSS 4000 system from version 8.5 to 7.0, prelink (reservation URL) live streaming cannot be played. EP Recording PCTCRSS-2907 When an Aethra X7 system sends DualVideo to RSS4000 at 384kbps in an H.323 call, the Polycom RSS 4000 system continues to show people video only both on live streaming and recording while the call statistics on Aethra shows that it is sending content. The same symptom does not happen at call rates other than 384 kbps. EP Recording PCTCRSS-6552 If both Polycom HDX Series system and RSS 4000 system are registered to a Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (Cisco VCS), no video is displayed and the audio is distorted for AES-256 encrypted H.323 calls. EP Recording PCTCRSS-6559 If you enable Live Streaming and VRR Recording Immediately in a VRR template and use SIP recording link to RMX, the recording cannot start automatically. External media server PCTCRSS-2657 The IIS-7 Media Server cannot power down and restart automatically for every recording. You have to restart it each time manually. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2377 Integration with Lync server does not support multipoint VRR. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2866 After you upgrade the Polycom RSS 4000 system from version 7.0 to 8.5.1, some WMV files can't be opened in the Polycom RealPresence Media Editor (these files cannot be transcoded by Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 SP2). Interoperability PCTCRSS-2884 During a SIP call with a live streaming in WMV between the RadVision Scopia XT1000 system and the Polycom RSS 4000 system, when the RadVision Scopia XT1000 system sends DualVideo (BFCP based People+Content) to the Polycom RSS 4000 system, the Polycom RSS 4000 system shows the content only. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2885 When the Polycom RSS 4000 system dials into a conference hosted on a Codian MCU 4505 system (version 4.3, build 1.68 or build 2.30) at a call rate between 2048 and 4096 kbps in SIP, the connected rate shown on the Codian's call statistics is always 2000 kbps instead. Re-transcode the archive after in upgrading to v Polycom, Inc. 13

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround Interoperability PCTCRSS-2893 If the Polycom RMX 1000 system uses a recording link to live stream a call with a Polycom HDX system, you cannot play the generated MP4 file from the RSS system s Admin UI. The preconditions is that the conference's Video Definition is set as Up to H263 4CIF 15FPS and the VRR has the option Generate MP4 Video File selected. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2376 The Polycom RSS 4000 system does not support TV UI under RTV protocol. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2887 Even if the RadVision Scopia XT1000 system sends DualVideo (H.239-based People and Content) to the Polycom RSS 4000 system in an H.323 call, the Polycom RSS 4000 system continues showing the people video only. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2889 During an H.323 call between the Polycom RSS 4000 and the SONY PCS-XG80 system (version ), if the SONY PCS-XG80 starts then stops sending content, the call connection is automatically terminated after the RSS 4000 system stops receiving content and switches to receive people video for around 90 seconds. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2890 After you record a content-sharing call at 1024 kbps or higher between a Polycom HDX system and a Polycom PVX system, you cannot find the recording from the View All Archives in the Polycom RSS 4000 system s TV UI. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2891 If a Polycom RMX system uses a recording link to live stream in WMV format a SIP VSW conference with a Polycom HDX system, the RSS 4000 system always records at the secondary rate when the conference line rate is set as 128 kbps, 256 kbps, or 384 kbps. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2892 If a Polycom RMX system with an MPM+ card uses a recording link to live stream a call (at 128 kbps) with a Polycom HDX system, the Receive Video Frame Rate of the recording shown on the RSS system s TV UI goes merely around 20 kbps. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2888 During a 1920 kbps H.323 call between the Polycom RSS 4000 and the SONY PCS-XG80 system (Version ), if the PCS-XG80 starts and then stops sending content, the Polycom RSS 4000 system stops receiving the content accordingly but cannot switch to the people video. A black screen appears instead. Polycom, Inc. 14

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround Interoperability PCTCRSS-2375 The Polycom RSS 4000 system does not support multi-endpoint Lync conference (CCCP). Live Streaming PCTCRSS-2687 If you live stream an audio-only meeting using a VRR that selects the option Reservation VRR, you cannot view the live steam from the URL included in the notification. Live Streaming PCTCRSS-2883 When an Aethra X7 system initiates a live streaming by placing an H.323 call to the Polycom RSS 4000 system in the DualVideo mode, the recording and live streaming cannot be rendered properly in the RSS 4000 system s Viewer portal. Live Streaming PCTCRSS-2922 Live Streaming in 1080 p60 is not supported in the Polycom RSS 4000 V8.5. Live Streaming PCTCRSS-3646 If the secondary rate is set to 128 kbps and the layout is set to Dual window for content, you cannot see the content and a black screen displays. Live Streaming PCTCRSS-3647 You cannot use dual windows while live streaming with Windows Silverlight. LPR PCTCRSS-2690 If you configure the Polycom RSS 4000 system in connection with a Polycom RMX 2000 system using a recording link that uses a LPR-enabled VRR, during a multipoint call hosted by the RMX system, you find that the LPR are not activated on the Tx side of the recorder. Lync Integration PCTCRSS-2448 The Polycom RSS 4000 system s Lync client does not enjoy the following login status: Available/Busy/Do Not Disturb/Be Right Back/Off Work/Appear Away. Lync Integration PCTCRSS-2450 The Polycom RSS 4000 system does not support video control for Lync client. Lync Integration PCTCRSS-2491 The Polycom RSS 4000 system does not support content sharing with Lync client. Lync Integration PCTCRSS-2447 If you start recording between the Polycom RSS 4000 system and Mac Lync client, the archive status shows error while the audio type of the RAW file is none. MCU Recording PCTCRSS-2819 Recording with MGC Recording Links does not start automatically though the Polycom RSS 4000 system is connected from MGC. The Polycom RSS 4000 system is not interoperable with Aethra X7 when the latter works in the DualVideo mode. Polycom, Inc. 15

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround Others PCTCRSS-2634 Sometimes, if your browser is Windows Internet Explorer 9, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome, the browser hangs when you try to view MP4-format archives from the Polycom RSS 4000 system s Viewer portal. Others PCTCRSS-2731 When an endpoint is connected to the Polycom RSS 4000 system, the system name doesn t work if it contains Chinese. Performance PCTCRSS-2910 You recorded a conference on MGC RecordingLinks at 128K. The archived video is stopped to play after a while when you play back the recorded WMV file using Windows Media Player. Playback PCTCRSS-2903 On RMX RecordingLinks, the Receive Video Frame Rate of the recording goes merely less than 25fps when H.264 4CIF/4SIF is used as the people video resolution. Playback PCTCRSS-2743 When you play WMV format archives with thumbnails on Silverlight player from the Polycom RSS 4000 system s web portal using the Windows Internet Explorer 8, time jumps without maximizing the player window. Playback PCTCRSS-2897 When you play a multicast streaming of an archive (with thumbnails) from the Polycom RSS 4000 system's Viewer portal, no thumbnails display and no time shown on progress bar either. Playback PCTCRSS-2689 After you place an audio-only call (64 Kpbs) with a Polycom HDX, sometimes, you cannot play back the recording from the Admin UI using either Quicktime plugin (7.7.1), Windows Media Player ( ), or Microsoft Silverlight player ( ). Playback PCTCRSS-3659 A black screen displays when you play back online transcoded WMV format archives in Mozilla Firefox browser. Playback PCTCRSS-3669 Audio and video are unable to sync when you dial into the RSS 4000 system from the Polycom RealPresence Mobile application when using a multipoint VRR and are watching offline transcoded archives. Restart the browser. This is the design behavior. Use another Web browser. Watch the transcoded archives online. Polycom, Inc. 16

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround Playback PCTCRSS-3661 Thumbnails do not display when you play Windows Media Server archives using Chrome 29 on Windows XP. Pre-link PCTCRSS-2817 Once the predetermined VRR is created, if you need to modify the template content, restart the Polycom RSS 4000 system to apply the changes. Pre-link PCTCRSS-2926 When you view a QuickTime Streaming Server streaming on a MAC computer, you cannot double click the player window to maximize it. Pre-link PCTCRSS-3663 Virtual Recording Room (VRR) streaming is incorrect when you dial into the RSS 4000 system from another endpoint using a predetermined VRR. P2P PCTCRSS-3670 When you use two endpoints dial into the RSS 4000 system using multi-point VRR under CP mode, you cannot view the second endpoint s video in offline transcoded archives. Use another browser to play archives on Windows XP, or use another operation system. None for MAC servers. For other MAC systems, right-click the player window and select Full Screen. One endpoint joins one predetermined VRR. Play the transcoded archive online. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2086 The Polycom RSS 4000 system configured to stream live to an external QuickTime server results in green, unusable video for about four seconds, until the key-frames are sent from the Polycom RSS 4000 system to QTSS and received by the web-viewer. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2582 Sometimes QTSS authentication fails (randomly) when the Polycom RSS 4000 system is configured to stream live to the external QTSS. Behavior is random and not reproducible. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2617 The second rate archive is not translated to ISMV file so does not support VoD the second rate archive file. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2801 If two publishing points are configured in the RSS External Media Server settings, but only one call rate is set in the VRR template, the RSS 4000 system will send the same bit rate to both publishing points. Configure the VRR Template for (2) bit-rates. Polycom, Inc. 17

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2757 While live streaming to a QuickTime Server that requires authentication, if the QuickTime server experiences network problem, the Polycom RSS 4000 system is disconnected from the QuickTime server accordingly. It cannot reconnect to the QuickTime Server even after the latter resumes its network connection. Try one of the followings: Stop and then restart the recording. Hang up and redial to restart the recording. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2822 You cannot play audio only streaming (WMV and MP4) on Silverlight player. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2827 On Wowza server, the latency time for live streaming is about 30 seconds. RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2841 When the Polycom RSS 4000 system creates publishing points on the external Windows Media Server, it requires full permission to be enabled for everyone in Windows Media Server publishing points ACL authorization. Ensure this is configured on the Windows Media Server. Security can be preserved by limiting the Windows Media Server to accept requests to/from the Polycom RSS IP address. SIP PCTCRSS-2526 Polycom RealPresence Mobile clients cannot use DTMF to control the RSS 4000 v8.5 when the call is via SIP. SIP PCTCRSS-2805 The Polycom RSS 4000 system supports BFCP over TCP only and the far end systems that support BFCP work only on BFCP over UDP in case if dual stream in SIP failed. SIP PCTCRSS-2853 When you place a SIP call to a pre-configured conference on Codian MCU 4505 (version 4.3 (2.30)) with a SIP URI dialing in a format <conference ID>@<IP address>, call connection cannot be completed. None (if the 3rd party devices don t support BFCP over TCP). If you would like to directly dial in to a pre-configured conference on Codian MCU 4505 from an endpoint using a conference ID, you need to register both Codian MCU 4505 and the endpoint to the same SIP registrar server. Polycom, Inc. 18

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround SIP PCTCRSS-2894 If a Polycom RMX system uses a recording link to live stream a SIP call (call rate: 128 kpbs kpbs) with a Polycom HDX system, the Video out frame rate shown on the RMX side is significantly lower than the call rate. S_PKI PCTCRSS-2635 If you select the option System Config > Client Certificate > Enable web client certificate validation, you cannot log in to the system after the system's self-signed certificate expires. S_IPv6 PCTCRSS-2540 You cannot access Polycom RSS 4000 web portal via Firefox browser using IPv6 address. SNMP PCTCRSS-2412 The Polycom RSS 4000 system does not support SNMP trap. Transcoding PCTCRSS-3662 Live streaming of video is poor quality when you record video at 128 kbps or 256 kbps, set the layout Dual window for content', and send content from endpoint. Upgrade PCTCRSS-2882 After any Polycom RSS 4000 system upgrade / downgrade, you need to clear the Internet Explorer caches - delete all temporary IE files, close and restart Internet Explorer to ensure the normal operation of the Polycom RSS system. Disable the option Enable web client certificate validation before the self-signed certificate expires. Use IPv4 address for Firefox browser or IPv6 address for Chrome browser and Internet Explorer. Set the recording rate to > 256 kbps. Clear IE cache and restart IE. Video PCTCRSS-2923 When you dials in to a meeting using a Polycom RealPresence Mobile application (with call rate < 1 Mbps, online encoding), the video aspect ratio is 4:3. If a Polycom CMA Desktop user dials in later and changes the video aspect ratio to 16:9, your local video becomes fuzzy. VRR PCTCRSS-2686 You cannot modify a normal VRR to change it into a reservation VRR. Web Portal PCTCRSS-2501 When generating a Polycom RealPresence Media Editor presentation in the VRR template, the pre-set interval for thumbnails doesn t always match the thumbnail interval shown in the video player in the user portal. Polycom, Inc. 19

Category Issue ID Descriptions Workaround Web Portal PCTCRSS-2583 When you generate a Polycom RealPresence Media Editor presentation with an MP4 live streaming template and with the option generate WMV video file disabled, you cannot see thumbnails when playing archives. Web Portal PCTCRSS-2633 When using an external Windows Media Server for live streaming or VoD, the streaming link on Polycom RSS user portal delivers the streams to Mac users via the Polycom RSS native streaming server instead of the external WMS. Web Portal PCTCRSS-2749 When you play an archive on Polycom RSS web portal, the video stops playing when you double click while in full-screen mode. Web Portal PCTCRSS-2783 When you play a WMS archive or live streaming using a Mozilla Firefox browser, the video cannot be played back. Web Portal PCTCRSS-2911 When you play a WMV streaming on Polycom RSS 4000 system's web portal without Windows Media Player installed, you will not see any prompt or installation link but always in loading status. Web Portal PCTCRSS-3660 If the archive's access right is granted to the group, you cannot search for it by user group on the RSS 4000 system s viewer portal. Web Portal PCTCRSS-3668 You cannot live stream in WMV format using Windows Media Player from Windows 7 virtual machine when accessing the RSS 4000 system's Viewer Portal using the Windows Internet Explorer 9. Web UI PCTCRSS-2456 Detecting server address function cannot validate IPv6 IP address in System Config > IP Settings. Web UI PCTCRSS-2688 The Polycom RSS 4000 system generates ZIP files using the format.tar. You may need a WinRAR or 7-Zip application to decompress the file. Web UI PCTCRSS-3637 The RSS 4000 system does not support importing Active Directory users across multiple domains. Web UI PCTCRSS-3664 Active Directory displays a maximum of 1000 imported users If you plan to output for use in Media Editor, you must enable WMV. Don t double click in full screen mode. Press "Esc" key to exit full-screen mode. Search on the administrator s UI. Double-click Windows Media Player to go to full screen mode. This is the design behavior. Active Directory users can log into the RSS 4000 system directly without importing users. Polycom, Inc. 20

V8.5.2 Corrected Issues The following table lists the corrected issues for the version release. Category Issue ID Descriptions Others PCTCRSS-5855 An attacker using a carefully crafted handshake can force the use of weak keying material in OpenSSL SSL/TLS clients and servers. This can be exploited by a Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack where the attacker can decrypt and modify traffic from the attacked client and server. Polycom, Inc. 23

V8.5.1 Corrected Issues The following table lists the corrected issues for the version release. Category Issue ID Descriptions API PCTCRSS-3622 If you record video on the external Wowza server and use API getarchivebyid to get archive's streaming URLs, all of them were using external Media Server's IP addresses. This issue did not exist on Viewer Portal. Certificate DSTC-1367 You can install intermediate certificate on the RSS 4000 system. External media server DSTC-1205 With Microsoft IIS Streaming Server, the publishing points no longer need to reboot for every streaming session, and there is no delay in the streams after every reboot. External media server DSTC-1232 The Polycom RSS 4000 system authenticates with an external Windows Server 2008 R2 Media Server External media server DSTC-1299 When using an external media server, you can specify different hosts for publishing server and playback server. Web UI DSTC-1421 Archives continue to play without stopping or buffering in Windows Media Player on the Polycom RSS 4000 system s web portal. V8.5 Corrected Issues The following table lists the corrected issues for the version 8.5. release. Polycom, Inc. 25

Category Issue ID Descriptions Calling PCTCRSS-2331 The Polycom RSS 4000 system doesn t support FECC (Far End Camera Control) in SIP calls. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2279 If a Polycom RMX system uses a recording link to live stream a SIP call (call rate: 128 kpbs kpbs) with a Polycom HDX system, the Video out frame rate shown on the RMX side is significantly lower than the call rate. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2283 When a Polycom RMX system uses a recording link (with the Video Definition set as Up to H263 4CIF 15FPS) to live stream in WMV format a call with a Polycom HDX system, if you play back the recording from the RSS 4000 system s TV UI, the playback starts with a blue screen for a short while. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2286 After you record a content-sharing call at 1024 kbps or higher between a Polycom HDX system and a Polycom PVX system, you cannot find the recording from the View All Archives in the Polycom RSS 4000 system s TV UI. Interoperability PCTCRSS-2276 If you live stream in MP4 format a multipoint meeting by dialing out to a Polycom RealPresence Mobile application and a Polycom Telepresence m100 application using the same multipoint VRR, the incoming video freezes on the Polycom RealPresence Mobile application when the received video protocol is VGA. MCU Recording PCTCRSS-2277 If a Polycom RMX system uses a recording link to live stream in MP4 format a VSW conference with a Polycom HDX system, you don t hear the audio in the live streams that are recorded at 128 kbps, 256 kbps, or 384 kbps. Others PCTCRSS-2261 The Polycom RSS 4000 system is expected to extend the validity period of the Multicast ActiveX control certificate. To date, the default expiration date of the certificate is January 23, Polycom RSS Delivery Proxy PCTCRSS-2267 If authentication is needed, you cannot connect to the IIS7 Media Server for streaming. Pre-link PCTCRSS-2272 After you start a live streaming using a reservation VRR and call this VRR from a compatible endpoint, if you then disconnect and reconnect the endpoint repetitively, the live streaming shown on the Viewer portal hangs. Pre-link PCTCRSS-2265 During a recording using a reservation VRR, if the Polycom RSS 4000 system reboots, after the reboot, the recording archive status shows Ready. However, the media file size is zero. RTSP PCTCRSS-2259 When a user with poor network condition connects to a WMV live streaming, the live streaming quality worsens for all users. Polycom, Inc. 26

Category Issue ID Descriptions Web UI PCTCRSS-2268 When you play a WMV format archive on the Polycom RSS 4000 Viewer portal, the video stops playing after you fast forward, or fast rewind it. Web UI PCTCRSS-2273 When you view WMV format archives from the Polycom RSS 4000 system's Viewer portal, If You select Zoom > 200%, the player window does not show the new setting. Web UI PCTCRSS-2274 When you view WMV format archives from the Polycom RSS 4000 system s Viewer portal using the Windows Internet Explorer 9 version as your browser, you cannot double-click to view the archive in full screen. Interoperability Your Polycom RSS 4000 systems are tested extensively with a wide range of products. The following list is not a complete inventory of compatible equipment; it simply indicates the products that have been tested for compatibility with the release. Video conferencing systems use a variety of algorithms to compress audio and video. In a call between two systems, each end transmits audio and video using algorithms supported by the other end. In some cases, a system may transmit a different algorithm than it receives. This process occurs because each system independently selects the optimum algorithms for a particular call, and different products may make different selections. This process should not affect the quality of the call. Interoperating with Polycom Products (H.323) The following table shows the interoperability between the Polycom RSS 4000 system and other Polycom products when you record H.323 calls. Type Product Release Gatekeepers, Gateways, and MCU s Polycom CMA4000/ Polycom DMA , 6.1 Polycom RMX 1000/ , Polycom RMX 1000C/500C 2.4.2, Polycom RMX 1500/2000/ , 8.4 Polycom MGC Polycom, Inc. 27
