5 iii Typographical Conventions General Typographical Conventions Convention code font bold code font italic font Key combinations Use The following typographical conventions are used in this manual. Code font identifies commands, code examples, filenames, pathnames, and output displayed in a command window. For example: Use MyCommand to start the foo process. Bold code font is used in the following ways: In procedures, to indicate what a user types. For example: Type admin. In large code samples, to indicate the parts of the sample that is of particular interest. In command syntax, to indicate the default parameter for a command. For example, if no parameter is specified, MyCommand is enabled: MyCommand [ enable disable] Italic font is used in the following ways: To indicate a document title. For example: See Concepts. To introduce new terms For example: A portal page may contain several portlets. Portlets are mini-applications that run in a portal. 8 Release Notes 2 New Features This section lists features added since the last release of this product. Release The following are new features in this release. Bullet Graph A bullet graph visualization has been introduced. It is a miniature visualization that can be included in the graphical table or the text area. The bullet graph is considered a superior way of displaying information usually visualized by a speedometer. Specifically, bullet graphs are used to compare one value, represented by a horizontal bar, to another value, represented by a vertical line, and relate those to qualitative ranges. Support for Matlab as Statistics Engine Via Data Functions it is now possible to take advantage of MATLAB engines connected to TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services. Support for SAS as Statistics Engine Via Data Functions it is now possible to take advantage of SAS engines connected to TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services. Enhanced PDF Export The PDF Export has been improved. There are now options to export visualizations as vector graphics, greatly improving image quality. More options for headers and footers have been added, giving more control of the final result. It is also possible to batch export a series of sheets from one and th e same analysis. A user can select to export several versions of the analysis at the same time, based on filter options and bookmarks.

9 Release Notes 3 Changes in Functionality This section lists changes in functionality since the last release of this prod uct. Release The following are changes in functionality in this release. Improved Spotfire Web Player startup behavior If the Spotfire Web Player Server cannot reach the Spotfire Server, or if there is an error, during startup, the Spotfire Web Player Server enters a polling mode where it waits for a certain amount of time, then restarts itself. Improved request performance and simplified configuration The Web Player application pool now uses managed pipelin e mode Integrated. This improves request performance for ASP.NET requests and makes more of our settings available in web.config, reducing the need to use the IIS Manager for configuration. Improved request and session management to improve performance when executing lots of parallel request in the Web Player. This will increase performance when running many parallel analyses or when using analyses with many plots or plots with many items, like spark lines. Increased the number of parallel requests that a client can use when calling the Spotfire Server, to increase performance for multiple on - demand data tables. Improved Scheduled Updates service integration, when using forms based authentication The web service to update items in Scheduled Updates has been updated to simplify integration with other systems, when using Forms based authentication. The ASP.NET forms authentication cookie detection setting has changed, to remove a redirect. This removes then need to add the AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport parameter when calling the web service.

10 Release Notes 4 Deprecated and Removed Features Release Deprecated Features No features are deprecated in this release. Removed Features The following features are removed in this release. Tickets can no longer be used to transfer authentication between clients Tickets are no longer used to transfer authentication between clients, when using non single-sign-on based authentication. In the Tibco Spotfire save to library dialog, when clicking on the link to the Web Player file, the user must now login to the Web Player, credentials are no longer transferred automatically. Download ing and opening a file from the Web Player in Tibco Spotfire, now will require the user to login to the server, credentials are no longer transferred automatically.

11 Release Notes 5 Migration and Compatibility This section explains how to migrate from a previous release to this release. Release Installation Follow the instructions in the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player Installation Manual to install TIBCO Spotfire Web Player Installation Notes 1. Installing the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player from a network drive is not possible; the installer must be run locally. 2. While technically possible, it is not recommended to install TIBCO Spotfire Web Player on the same machine as the TIBCO Spotfire Server. Performance for both prod ucts will be affected negatively, and there are complications concerning port numbers. 3. The installation program creates a virtual directory called SpotfireWeb under the Default Web Site in IIS. If there is more than one web site on the server, it is important to select the port for the correct web site during installation, as described in the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player Installation Manual. 4. If you want to configure TIBCO Spotfire Server 3.3 to use Kerberos authentication, we strongly recommend using port 80, see also KB For additional information see the Spotfire Server Installation and Configuration Manual. 5. It is particularly important to install TIBCO Spotfire Web Player and TIBCO Spotfire Server on separate machines when using Kerberos authentication. 6. Additional information and advice on troubleshooting are available in the installation manual.

Key TSWP-2821 Summary Error when opening analysis in Web Player - " Interpretation error during update (Object expected)" TSWP-2796 Old Property Control value is (sometimes) used in PDF Export TSWP-2786 Left Y-axis selector is missing in Web Player view when having multiple scales. TSWP-2783 KeepAlive.ashx returns 'OK' even when web player has lost connectivity to server. TSWP-2774 Link renderer cannot create links containing values with spaces. TSWP-2768 Hierarchy Checkbox filter generated from on-demand not working. TSWP-2760 Filters panel not scrollable in Safari on ipad. TSWP-2746 Date and weekday does not match in Web Player range filter for DataType Date. TSWP-2732 Crash when displaying Tooltips in Web Player. TSWP-2723 Error message thrown when choosing Unmark Marked Rows action link, if active/highlighted visualization is not marked table. TSWP-2720 Checkbox filter not working properly in Web Player when opened in Firefox 9 and IE9. TSWP-2697 Crash when large number of nodes resulting from a plot axis expression TSWP-2494 One-finger scrolling is missing from Text Areas on ipad. TSWP-2365 Web Player Size on iphone Safari should not include URL bar.

Summary/Workaround Summary If JavaScript is disabled in the web browser, analysis files will not appear and the application cannot be used. Summary When exporting a map chart to PDF using vector graphics, the map is not rendered correctly. Workaround Use raster graphics when exporting a map to PDF. Summary Tiled markers in a scatter plot have a line drawn diagonally over them when exporting to PDF. Summary Bars disappear (or become too thin to see) when exporting to PDF, when there are many bars in a bar chart. Workaround Use raster graphics when exporting to PDF. Summary Exporting a heat map with many rows to PDF with vector graphics becomes empty. Workaround Use raster graphics when exporting to PDF. Summary When exporting a table visualization with columns rendered as links to PDF, the underline will become a strikethrough. Workaround Use raster graphics when exporting to PDF. Summary Hebrew characters in visualizations and header or footer are not correctly rendered in exported PDF. Summary If session cookies are turned off in the web browser, a "Communication error in Ajax.poll" error may occur when trying to open an analysis file. Summary If regular cookies are turned off in the web browser, the Remember Me function will not work properly. Summary If you use impersonation between a TIBCO Spotfire Web Player and a TIBCO Spotfire Server that uses NTLM authentication, the impersonator account (that is username and password) must only contain US ASCII characters. This is not applicable to end user accounts.. Summary If the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player and the TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services is installed on the same machine (with IPV6 installed), make sure that the address does not contain localhost. For example, if it is set to / localhost:8080/ SplusServer, change it to / :8080/ SplusServer. Summary If the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player is configured to use certificates it is not possible to login with an ipad using the ios version

15 Release Notes 9 Key Summary/Workaround Summary Analysis files that require prompting, other than prompted information links, are not supported in the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player. Summary Value renderers developed with the TIBCO Spotfire 2.2 API are not supported. Summary A cond itional coloring rule based on a custom expression including a property will be initially disabled when the analysis is opened. Once the property value is updated (typically through a property control on a Text Area), the rule will be evaluated and applied to the visualization. Summary Using the built-in zoom function in Internet Explorer 7.0 or later may affect the interaction in such a way that marking in visualization d oes not follow the movement of the mouse pointer.
