Quick Start Guide V5.0
IDair, LLC Per the Unites States Government Code of Federal Regulations Title 47, Chapter I, Federal Communications Commission (FCC), this device complies with Subchapter A, Section 15 of the FCC rules. The ONEprint is a Class A digital device. A digital device that is marketed for use in a commercial, industrial or business environment, exclusive of a device which is marketed for use by the general public or is intended to be used in the home ( 15.3h). CAUTION: Do not change or modify the ONEprint device without express approval from IDair, LLC. ONEprint Quick Start Guide Version: June 2016 ONEprint Product Number: OP 108 IDair, LLC 6767 Old Madison Pike, Suite 410 Huntsville, AL Copyright 2015, 2016 IDair, LLC IDair, LLC ii
INTRODUCTION Congratulations on purchasing the new ONEprint non contact fingerprint reader by IDair. Your compact ONEprint unit is designed to provide fast, automated access, with very little maintenance required. The ONEprint box should contain all of the following items: One ONEprint unit One metal mounting bracket for mounting ONEprint device Two security screws for attaching ONEprint to bracket One auxiliary cable One quick start guide, Warranty Card, and EULA NOTE: The metal bracket provided is essential for proper grounding of the ONEprint unit and must be connected to Earth ground. The versatile ONEprint can be installed as a single unit or installed with multiple ONEprint units that communicate with each other. ONEprint integrates seamlessly with your access control system to streamline access and provide greater security. When ONEprint matches a user s fingerprint to the fingerprint in the onboard database, a message containing the user s unique ID or badge code is sent to the access control system (not provided) over an industry standard Wiegand interface. This information is used by the access control system to provide access for users in much the same manner as a traditional badge reader. Software Version 3.0 and higher support Modbus over TCP, enabling an inexpensive, standalone access system using an Ethernet to relay adaptor supplied by several vendors. NOTE: Consult your access control system instructions to find out how to integrate devices such as badge readers. NOTE: This ONEprint Quick Start Guide V5.0 describes the behavior and functionality corresponding to software release V5.0. For more information on installation and use of the ONEprint device, the Installation and User Guide is available at the following web address: IDair, LLC
ONEPRINT HARDWARE INSTALLATION The hardware installation procedure for the Enroller Reader and for all Client Readers is the same except for one step. Make sure that ONEprint Client Readers have the EnA and EnB wires on the auxiliary cable connected as described below. Perform the following steps to install ONEprint hardware: 1) Use the bracket as a template to mark the wall on which the ONEprint will be installed. For best results, the mounting height of the top hole of the bracket should be 46.5 inches (118 cm) from the floor. 2) Connect the metal bracket to ground. 3) Pull the Ethernet cable from the PoE switch and the Wiegand cable from the accesscontrol system (if applicable) through the hole in the bracket. 4) If you are using an access control system, attach the ONEprint auxiliary cable to the access control system cable, using the information shown in the table below. 5) If the ONEprint is to be configured as a Client Reader, connect EnA and EnB using a wire nut to wrap them together. The table below describes the signals defined for each wire of the auxiliary cable. If the ONEprint is to be configured as an Enroller Reader, do not connect EnA and EnB. NOTE: If you are using an Ethernet to relay adaptor instead of an accesscontrol system, then the auxiliary cable is not necessary for the Enroller Reader. However, it is necessary for each Client Reader. IDair, LLC
8) Connect the PoE cable to ONEprint and apply power to the PoE switch or PoE injector. ONEprint begins its power up sequence as soon as the PoE cable is attached and powered: a. The red status indicator light then goes out. b. ONEprint performs a self test, flashing through red, green, blue, and white before the green status indicator light and blue light come on and stay lit. c. Write down the MAC address and location of the installed ONEprint. 9) Place ONEprint on the bracket ensuring the bracket tab fits into the slot in the cap of ONEprint. 10) Insert two security screws through the bottom of the bracket into the tapped holes under the base of the ONEprint unit. Secure the unit to the bracket. Any networked computer or mobile device on the same network as the ONEprint should now be able to access the Enroller Reader via the web interface. IDair, LLC
ONEPRINT DISCOVERY AND CONFIGURATION Out of the box, ONEprint obtains an IP address from the network s DHCP server (typically on the router). You will use the Discovery Application to obtain the IP address that your DHCP server has assigned to the ONEprint. You will need the IP address to upgrade the software and configure the ONEprint network. Later, you can set the ONEprint Enroller Reader to a fixed IP address that has been assigned by your IT administrator. NOTE: The static IP address for ONEprint should either be outside of the DHCP server scope or set to reserved within the DHCP scope to prevent the DHCP server from giving that IP address out to another device. If a ONEprint s IP address is served out to another device you may not be able to connect to the Enroller Reader. Perform the following steps to discover and configure ONEprint hardware: 1. DISCOVER ONEPRINT DEVICES A. Download the Discovery Application from to a Windows PC. B. Connect the computer to the network on which the ONEprint Enroller Reader and Client Readers are installed. C. On the computer, run the ONEprint discovery application. The discovery application returns the IP address of all ONEprint on the network segment. Make a note of the IP address of the ONEprint Enroller Reader for later use. For the network to function correctly, only one Enroller Reader should be shown. Other ONEprint devices shown should be configured as Client Readers. 2. SET ONEPRINT IP ADDRESS A. On the computer, open a web browser, enter the address that you noted in step C above into the address/location bar, and wait for the Home page for the ONEprint Enroller Reader to appear. B. Click <Admin Login>. C. When the Admin Login appears, enter the default admin login is as follows: name: admin password: admin D. Select <Administrator Tools> from the black menu bar. E. Next, click <Security Settings>, then <Set IP Address>. F. In the fields on this page, type in the static IP address, net mask, and Gateway address provided by your IT administrator. G. Click <Change IP Address>. H. ONEprint will show a status page instructing the user to wait one minute and then remove power from the ONEprint. IDair, LLC
I. Wait 10 seconds before re applying power to the ONEprint. The ONEprint should boot up normally using the new static IP address. J. Clear your browser s cache before proceeding. K. Using the new (not the old) IP address or hostname in the browser s URL field, login to the ONEprint again. NOTE: If there is any doubt, use the Discovery application to verify ONEprint is reporting its new static IP address. 3. UPGRADE ONEPRINT SOFTWARE NOTE: It is not necessary to update software on Client Readers. Client Readers are updated automatically from a paired Enroller Reader. A. As a precaution, the user database should be backed up prior to all software upgrades. B. Download the latest ONEprint software from to the computer and unzip to reveal an update file (.updt file) and a README file. C. Connect the computer to the same network as your ONEprint. You may verify that the ONEprint is on this network by running the Discovery App. D. Open a web browser and type the hostname or IP address of the ONEprint Enroller Reader. E. When the Home page for the ONEprint Enroller Reader appears, click <Admin Login> and type in User ID and Password, if prompted. F. When the User Maintenance page appears, select <About> on the black menu bar. G. Click <Update Software> and the Select Update File page appears. H. Click <Choose File> to select the.updt file that was downloaded and unzipped. I. Select <Upload Update File> to install the update on the ONEprint Enroller Reader. When the update is complete, the ONEprint reboots. The reboot is complete when the ONEprint beeps and the green LED illuminates, indicating the device is back online and in Normal Operation mode. This may take a few minutes. WARNING: Do NOT remove power to Enroller Reader or any paired Client Reader during the update process. Doing so may seriously damage the unit, and the unit may require servicing. The update is complete when the status indicator on the unit stays green. J. The user should clear the web browser cache after the upgrade to ensure all new software changes function properly. IDair, LLC
K. On the black toolbar, select User Maintenance to force a webpage refresh. This effectively logs the administrator into the ONEprint again. L. On the black toolbar, select <About> and then <Software Version>. M. Verify the Software Version page shows the active software version listed in the README file. IDair, LLC
ONEPRINT USER ENROLLMENT Integrating ONEprint with your existing access control system is as simple as enrolling new users using the same Facility Code and User ID numbers for users in both the ONEprint and the access control system. Perform the following steps to enroll new users: 1. ENROLL NEW USERS NOTE: A. Obtain a valid Facility Code (1 255) and User ID number (badge number) ( ) for the new user. B. Using a computer or mobile device, open your browser, clear your browser s cache, and enter the IP address or name that identifies your ONEprint Enroller Reader. For example, or C. From the Home page, click on <Admin Login>, and enter the User ID and Password if prompted. D. When the User Maintenance page appears, click on <Enroll New Users>. E. Type the Facility Code number, the User ID number, and the user s name into the appropriate fields. F. Select <Enroll User>. G. Once the Ready to Enroll message appears and the indicator lights on the Enroller Reader turn yellow, the unit is in Enrollment mode and is ready for the user to place a finger into the Finger Channel of the Bay. H. For best results in fingerprint recognition, instruct the enrollee as follows: [1] It is necessary to repeat a single finger enrollment three times before a user is successfully enrolled. [2] Slight amounts of finger rotation are preferred during enrollment. Slightly roll the finger to three different positions (straight up, roll left, and roll right) for each enrollment. [3] Put the enrollment finger in the Finger Channel of the Bay making sure the fingerprint is facing upward (toward the ceiling), with the back of the finger resting on the blue plastic of the Finger Channel. [4] Keep the finger still. [5] When the finger is detected, a white light appears on the ONEprint. [6] After ONEprint emits a short beep, take the enrollment finger out of the Finger Channel of the Bay. ONEprint unit will beep in specific ways to indicate correct or incorrect enrollment. IDair, LLC
Correct = One short beep; green lights flash and then go yellow when ready for next attempt Incorrect = One short beep; red lights flash then go yellow when ready for next attempt [7] If the first finger enrollment attempt is successful, the Again page is displayed. If the finger enrollment is not successful, the Retry Enroll page appears and the user should try the same finger again. [8] If a finger enrollment attempt is successful a second time, the Once More page is displayed. [9] After three successful enrollments of the same finger, the Success page appears and the status indicator turns green indicating it has returned to its normal matching mode. [10] After three consecutive unsuccessful attempts at enrolling a finger, the Failure page will display and enrollment mode will be canceled. At this point, the user should restart the enrollment process. I. Once successfully enrolled, the user will be able to place the ID finger into the Finger Channel of the ONEprint Bay the same way the user did during enrollment and: [1] The ONEprint will issue a short beep when it is ready for the user to remove the ID finger from the Bay. [2] If the user is successfully matched, the ONEprint issues a short beep, flashes a green light, and then sends the ID number to the access control system, which unlocks the appropriate door. [3] If the user does not match, the ONEprint issues a short beep, and the red LED flashes. The door does not unlock. J. The Enroller Reader s updated user database is automatically shared with all paired Client Readers within a few minutes so that the new user can use any of the ONEprint on your network. K. Note: Only PAIRED clients will match fingerprints in the database. If a Client Reader ONEprint on a network has not been paired to an Enroller Reader, follow the instructions in Pair Client Readers. IDair, LLC
PAIRING ONEPRINT CLIENT READERS Client Readers in a ONEprint network can be added, removed, or replaced as necessary so that the Enroller Reader can share updates to its fingerprint database and software. The process for adding Client Readers to an Enroller Reader s network is called Pairing. NOTE: ONEprint Client Readers that are not paired to an ONEprint Enroller Reader do not receive software or fingerprint database updates. Perform the following steps to pair ONEprints : 1. PAIR CLIENT READER WITH ENROLLER READER A. Connect the computer to the same network as your ONEprint. You may verify that the ONEprint is on this network by running the Discovery App. B. Open a web browser and type the hostname or IP address of the ONEprint Enroller Reader. C. When the Home page for the ONEprint Enroller Reader appears, click <Admin Login> and type in User ID and Password, if prompted. D. When the User Maintenance page appears, select < Administrator Tools> on the black menu bar. E. Click on <Client Reader Configuration> to view the pairing options. F. Click on <Pair Client Readers> and select a client Reader from the dropdown list. NOTE: The default Client Reader name is the Client Reader s MAC address. The unit s MAC address is found on the label located on the back of the unit. Reader names may be changed to user preferred names once the Client Reader is paired with an Enroller Reader. G. Click on <Pair with Enroller Reader>. H. Immediately after the Pair with Enroller Reader button is clicked, the status light of the Enroller Reader will turn red. Once the light returns to green, the selected Client Reader is paired with the Enroller Reader. IDair, LLC
